Jay was amazing
The service was great. The ambiance was amazing. We really enjoyed our night at this location.
The service by Kayla was impeccable and the manager came up to us to ask how we were doing which was nice. I love the ambiance, it's darker and cozier compared to the UTC location which is more open, brighter, and louder.
The thing that was disappointing was that the menu has changed since the last time I went and I really don't like being able to choose what I want. They now have groupings and no longer have the ahi or garlic shrimp and other items I liked. My friend and I got the 4 course dinner for 2 that was $115.95 BUT we had to pay extra - $8.95 for the Steak Lovers and $5.95 for the Land & Sea. We each got a bottle of wine, $36 for Zen of Zin and $43 for KJ Vintners Chardonnay. We added cream puffs for $4.95 for our dessert fondue. The total with tax AND an $8.00 surcharge was $240.07. Gratuity was about $50.
I am so disappointed because while the food was good and the service great, our meals were NOT worth $150 per person and I won't be going for a big meal without a coupon again. If I do go again in the near future, it will be on a Girl's Night Out, before a show, or happy hour.
Our server, Thomas was wonderful!
Great service, and the food is always good. I think it is a little overpriced, but most things are in the gaslamp. I would definitely go here again for a special occasion.
Love this place! Fun!
Ask for Thomas! He is the best!
My boyfriend and I had a late Valentine’s Day/ birthday date at The Melting Pot. He had never been before and we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the special menu.
Brian was absolutely awesome, very attentive! We celebrated Valentines Day as a family and he went above and beyond to ensure our 7 year-old felt very special! The food was delicious, the drinks too... but it’s was the warm, caring service Brian provided that made the night memorable. We’ll be back to celebrate again soon.
Jay was an excellent server! He was prompt and made us feel welcome.
Super great fondue appetizers and chocolate dessert. Main courses leave something to be desired. Be super careful; don't put raw chicken on the plate you will Be Eating cooked food from. Overall I'd return for multiple apps with fondue and dessert, and leave out the overpriced "main course". And the 4% bogus surcharge is something that must leaves a bad taste after paying the bill. Shame on you for gouging customers with a surcharge to hide your real pricing.
Really enjoyed ourselves, our server was awesome. I would leave him a review as well but I lost my surgery card. 100% amazing service, and he had a great beard!!
Great time as usual. Jay our waiter made the experience even better. Ladie’s Night is a great deal. Great food, great staff, great time!
Let me start by saying this restaurant is an amazing and unique experience in san diego. This is my 3rd time to visit and thats saying a lot. There is only one thing that bugs me. They dont give you enough batter to dip your meat and veggies in to fry. And when you ask for more they are hesitant to give it. Even after our second container which he said was four times the amount they give a table i still didnt have enough. Definitely not enough sauce for 4 people either. The food is amazing either way and we will be back. Great fondue is hard to find!!!
Thomas was a great server and made our first time experience incredible. Will definitely be coming again and requesting Thomas for future outings :)
Dining here was so much fun. I had no idea how they served, etc. Very entertaining and wonderful! We look forward to dining there again! Maybe next time we'll just do desert fondue!!
server was great, food was delicious, enjoyed restaurant week
We went out for date night for restaurant week. It was great! Loved the berry mojito and ambiance. It was overall fun and unique, not something I would do frequently. This would be more for a special occasion.
The melting pot is situational in San Diego historical building, very nice.
We went there for the restaurant week, a bit pricey still but overall a fun meal. The quality of the food was great but the highlight had to be the chocolate fondue. Must have!
Great Service, Good Food (specially Cheese and Chocolate options (though very rich), Cool older historic building. A bit expensive
Was so excited that it was a part of the restaurant week so I could try the gluten free menu cause not everyone can pull off GF. It was delicious 😋 Eddie was our server and made my birthday mommy feel special
We visited for SD Restaurant week and greatly enjoyed! We added on the chocolate fondue and the whole experience was fun. Do not go in with any time constraints because a meal like this takes time. We were there for more than 2 hours! But they do ask and are very courteous. Highly recommended
Great time with family! The food was awesome!!!!
Took the train down from Orange County. The restaurant is within walking distance of the downtown station. Had a nice cozy alcove to ourselves personable server(s). The meal was three hours and well paced.Fondue is a great experience and the Melting Pot presented great options and flavors. Our desert (Bananas Foster) was a little disappointing was expecting it to be more like New Orleans style and flavor, sadly was not. But overall a great evening.
The service was excellent. Food was delicious. Waiter and staff went above and beyond. They stayed open over an hour past closing to accommodate our party and even gave my friend a fun little dance for her birthday. Would definitely recommend!
Usually my experiences at The Melting Pot are fantastic. However, we had some issues with our server. I really wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she just did not deliver. Our party of 7 arrived at 5:30 and we were seated within a few minutes. No one came to our table to greet us for over seven minutes. I immediately told our server that we needed to be out of the restaurant by 7:40 in order to get to a show at the Civic Center. She expressed concern that two hours would not be enough for 3 courses. I appreciate that she was up front about her concern, but we have dined many times at The Melting Pot before a show, and we've always been able to get out in time for the show. We placed our order for 2 cheese fondues by 5:45. It took a while for it to come, but once we were done eating, we waited forever for the dishes to be cleared and for the main course to arrive. The pots for cooking the main entrees did not arrive until 6:45. At that point, I said to our server that I was getting worried about our timing. She replied, "I'm worried, too, especially because I have two other tables that also want to get out in time for the show." At 6:50, our entrees were brought to the table and I said to our server, "please bring our chocolate fondues out by 7:15." We ordered the chocolate fondues and we quickly ate our entrees. We were done with our entrees by 7:10. No one came to clear our dishes or take the cooking pots until 7:25. 15 minutes we just sat there stressed wondering why no one was helping? Although the chocolate arrived at 7:25, the fruit and desserts to use to dip, did not come. By 7:31, we realized we just needed to pay and leave. The manager took the dessert off our bill and gave us coupons for free chocolate on our next visit, but we were SO disappointed. Our kids look forward to the chocolate more than anything. I don't understand why our server wasn't able to make this happen. There were long lags of time when we sat there with no food or service.
Fondue is always a fun treat! The pri fixe menu for New Year's Eve was a bit pricey, but it was worth it for the fun and delicious dining experience. Waitress was a little sassy at times (maybe salty about working nye?) but was otherwise attentive and nice. Would go here again for a special occasion.
Cena de navidad
We go every Christmas Eve. Fun tradition!
Excellent dinner. Great service.
First time. Expensive but nice unique dining experience. Ordered the full 3 courses (cheese , oil then chocolate dip) and might opt for the cheese and/or chocolate next time. Great waiter and great experience.
Janice our server was fantastic! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and she made it extra special with her personable and attentive service.
Melting Pot San Diego is my favorite restaurant. Thomas made the night even more special with the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. He was prompt and helped get us out on time to make a showing at the civic theatre. The historical building really sets the ambiance.
We had a blast! I love the melting pot, it was my guests first time and they really enjoyed themselves as well. We will totally be back. Thank you Melting Pot!!!
Can't wait to come back. Great date night. Food was amazing and staff was lovely.
An experience not just a meal. A special treat for special occasion. We treated my parents as a thank you dinner- they felt very special.
It was absolutely perfect; the food was amazing, the server was experienced in great service, and we love the dark ambience. It’s a romantic and beautiful place for a date.
Great experience if you are into trying new stuff around
Amazing! Best melting pot experience ever! Our guy Zane is the best! 👍🏻👍🏻 The building is super cool too! Used to be a bank built in 1913 or something like that.
