The Melting Pot - Castleton
We had to ask for refills each time then had to remind the waitress we were still waiting on our refills. Our salads were brought out with our raw meats, instead of a bit before for us to enjoy while waiting. We asked for a to go box 3 times because she kept forgetting, ended up having to ask the people cleaning our table for one and a bag. When she gave us our check she waited at the table while she slid our card in a hand held device and handed it back for us to tip while she stood staring at me while I did it. No time to discuss with our party who was tipping with cash or putting on card. Poor service for the $250 we paid. Also we’ve been going here for year as a party of 5 and never paid over $150 somehow this visit with a party of 4 our total was $250.
They set us up in the "Lovers Lane" for our date night which was awesome. The server was phenomenal and she really cared about us and was working hard. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a great dinner, great time and great date night.
It was great from start to finish
The experience itself is great fun. However, the service leaves something to be desired.
From the moment you walk in you feel like a nuisance as several people behind the front desk figure out seating arrangements and hand small pieces of paper to waiters and others that make their way to the front of the establishment. It is uncomfortable and less than exciting.
Our server lacked personality. No recommendations, conversation, or help with the menu. For such a unique family outing, it felt cold. The server delivers the food and materials to the table.
Finally, when it came time to pay, the highest selection for gratuity was preselected 25%. Guest beware.
It is a special outing for our family; something far beyond our normal pocketbook expenses. It's too bad the novelty of the experience lacked some joy.
Part of 3. Cheese, salads, meals, and dessert + 25% gratuity = $200+
Wish a server would have recommended sharing the main entry.
Enjoyed the cheese fondue portion of the meal and also the chocolate dessert. We were not a big fan of the boiled meat. Our server told us the grill Was not an option due to Covid. When the manager came back he informed us that we could’ve chosen it though. A little bit confusing but our waitress had only been working there a month and she was very nice
Unhappy with hole experience , menu was not explained ,didnt tell us of all options when ordering, felt rushed to order and it was our first visit.
Birthday. The waitress was awesome she made everything better. She was great.
Great food and wonderful server. It’s expensive but worth it!
I have tip over 25% cash and I told the server. And yet when I was paying the credit card, she chose 25% tip again :( I could have change it but ... oh well. But she was a great server so :) I always love to go to this place :) going again this Friday with my son’s bday week.
Our server, T, was wonderful. She was efficient and prompt. The food was great and I enjoyed my wine. However, I was a little taken aback by the lack of social distancing. Every single table in the front room was filled. I was definitely not 6 feet away from the groups around me. I understand that it's tough to leave tables open on a Friday night, but guidelines are in place to keep diners safe. I like the Melting Pot and would like to return, but we will probably wait until I'm comfortable dining at full capacity again.
We love the experience in general, but the food!! My favorite is the cheese and chocolate fondue! I could completely skip the salad and meat portion 🤣. We love it and will go back!
The food was delicious and our server, Donavan was amazing! We had to leave a little early unexpectedly and he boxed up our desert and had it ready for us when he brought the check. We will be back for sure!
Wedding anniversary. They put us in booth by kitchen. My wife kept hearing and seeing the kitchen staff every time the door opened. They switched pots and didn’t turn on heat... so 20 minutes went by before anybody came back and fixed it. Food and dessert is what saved the day.
I've been a frequent customer for almost a decade. I've always had good experiences. This one not so much. The front desk girls were downright rude. One of the young ladies kept staring at me. It was awkward. She never had a smile. They had 2 open drinks sitting on the ledge. That stuff should be under the counter. The only one with a smile was the new employee. Our server was just OK. She forgot the main ingredient to our cheese. My potstickers fell apart in the cooking pot so they were inedible(the pastry was green, it's normally white). Seemed like she had too many tables to keep track of. Service was slower than normal. She was nice though. This is an expensive restaurant that is typically a good experience. If I was a new customer I wouldn't go back. I'm not so I'll give it another try. Also, the new decor (pics of downtown Indy) is not good. It doesn't fit the restaurant.
Loved everything about our date night at Melting Pot. Social distancing well-done. High quality food and service as usual.
It was my son’s 12th birthday. He loved it!
We had the devour menu and great service from Rachelle!
We waited for forty five minutes just to be seated even though we had a reservation then it was another twenty minutes before someone came to the table. We arrived for our 8:30 reservation and did not leave until 11:30. Our waitress was nice and the food was okay, just not worth it.
The Devour Indy menu was great - my least favorite part was the entree but cheese fondue and dessert were delicious. Two glasses of just ok wine were the same price as an entree so that’s a bit much. Biggest problem was the service. About halfway through dinner our server completely disappeared. Eventually a new guy came and started taking care of us. Apparently he was in training. Of course when it was time for the check and the tip she re-appeared. Just say “I am training someone new and he will be helping me out”. Don’t disappear.
Great atmosphere for a "date night". Quiet and you feel like you're the only ones in the restaurant at times. Always a great meal and great time.
We had a very nice dinner on 9/5, taking my parents out to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. We did the Devour/Restaurant Week 4 course menu. Overall very good - biggest disappointment was we ran out of both cheese & chocolate fondue and the vegetables that came with the entrees was kinda a joke - 1/6 of a small potato, 1 piece of broccoli, and 1 small mushroom cap per person was it! I'm glad we hade the $32 per person pricing, as it would not have been worth any more.
Our experience was great! Our waitress was amazing. I believe her name was Bri. She did a fantastic job and it felt like we had known her for years.
Amazing. Amazing waitress. Best ive ever had
This was our first time eating in a restaurant since COVID. The wait staff was very nice and attentive, but one of them did remove her mask several times while talking to us. We were also charged for the bill from a different table, but that was quickly taken care of. While I don’t think we’ll be dining inside a restaurant again during the pandemic, we will be back at melting pot in the future.
My girlfriends and I went for a girls night out during Devour Indy and it was amazing!
Took 25 minutes to get seated with reservations. Too few servers leaving us waiting w/o requested items . Booked too many table’s without the staff to serve. Had to send back items several times
NOTE: this type is WAY too small for those who can’t see , so my apologies if spelling/grammar is incorrect.
Great experience! 100% will go again!
Service was slow and food wasn’t very good until the chocolate fondue and that was amazing!
As always the Melting Pot is a sure hit and perfect for any occasion.
Almost four hours for a meal. It was crazy waiting an hour after we completed the cheese portion to get our salads. Then another hour to get the meat portion. It took so long to get the meat the cooking liquids dissipated and had to be refilled. Wish we would've chosen another restaurant to spend our $290 with. Server was friendly enough but failed to apologize for the excessive wait times and there wasn't any compensation on the bill.
We have eaten at this location before and they always have the appearance from the user end of being understaffed (slow service, drinks left empty, long gaps between seeing any staff compared to other Melting Pot locations. This visit also included multiple errors in service and the pot not being turned up prior to when the entree arrived.
Then the wait for the desert began, when the broth in the pot was in danger of boiling off completely my wife went to find the manager. Turned out out waiter had just walked out and was no where to be found. The manager was in the process of informing each of his 5 tables.
We were comped the cost of our meal, but with the errors, delays, and almost 3 hours before we gave up, honestly it did not seem to be enough.
Service was a little slow
Our servers Courtney and Donavan were fantastic, could not have asked for any better.
Food was fantastic as always, looking forward to our next visit.
Service was amazing but the food wasn’t great!
Outstanding in every way - we love celebrating our special events at The Melting Pot !
Disappointed. Our family has gone to the Melting Pot once a year for the past several years as a special treat. Upon arriving this year, the staff tried to seat us in a booth for 2 people versus an adequate table for 4. When we inquired about getting a bigger table, the Manager snapped at us and told us we didn't have anything noted in our reservation; we didn't know we needed to do that. After rolling her eyes at us, telling us she had nothing available, and making my children feel uncomfortable, we somehow got seated at the right table in about 10 minutes. Our waitress seemed like she cared little about her job, was not friendly and put in no effort to make the dinner special. She rushed making our cheese; she basically threw all the ingredients in a pot and stirred as quickly as she could. It took her 10-15 minutes to get us a glass of wine. She seemed annoyed when we had to share food allergies. When you pay almost $300 for a dinner, you expect to be treated with a bit more respect. We left feeling like we wasted a lot of money.
It was the best ever. Thank you very much. Our waitress was phenomenal.
Food and service were excellent as usual. Celebrated our 10 year anniversary
Absolutely awful service. Will never return...Ever.
