The ratings didn’t lie. We loved everything about this restaurant. The food was fresh (farm to table). Our server was excellent. Definitely go if you’re in town!!
We are so happy to have found this place! Beautiful atmosphere, great service, amazing food!
Dining here was a last minute decision and glad we did. The food was excellent, service great and we enjoyed the meal very much.
We chose the Market Place Restaurant as we were going to the Chihuly exhibit at Biltmore that night and wanted something close to our hotel that a picky eater would like. So we thought it would be fine but did not have really high expectations. We were blown away by how fabulous our meal was. Two of us had only appetizers -- mac and cheese, fries, cheese plate, white gazpacho, grilled peaches, and mushroom gratin (which was the evening's special), while the third had the heirloom tomato salad and pork shoulder. Everything was delicious. The pork and the potatoes accompanying it were cooked perfectly. We liked our meal so much that we plan to go back every time we're in Asheville!
Good service and atmosphere. The presentation of the food was pretty, but the substance was lacking. I’m an Asheville local and if you are looking for good farm to table fare, go to Table. For small plates/special occasions go to Zambra. Both are better food/value/experience.
Wonderful farm fresh food with a knowledgeable staff
Perfect spot to talk and enjoy wonderfully creative and delicious cuisine.
Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious! Our server had great suggestions for what was good “now” based on the season. The trout was perfection.
Best meal we have had in Asheville! The food was so creative and delicious! The service was outstanding and we had a great time!
Ordered a standard well Bloody Mary at the bar which in my opinion was overpriced at $9.63, payed at bar before being taken to our table and left a $2.00 tip. No one offered to carry my cocktail to our table. The very small portion of eggs benton was served with a very small sliver of ham and undercooked eggs.
Nothing spectacular-they didn’t recognize our anniversary, but we enjoyed our meal & the service was good.
Wonderful space, very unique location. The food was wonderful and the service was terrific.
Can't wait to go back on our next trip to Asheville.
Table of 5 ladies, enjoying an evening together with drinks, a couple appetizers, delicious food and dessert. The pan roasted quail was cooked to perfection, the striploin steak tender and the scallops delicious. Top off the dinners with the dark chocolate & dolce de leche cake and the saffron & wildflower honey creme brulee for a perfect finish.
Great venue, not crowded, excellent food and service! Everything we we were looking for!
Best meal in Asheville!!
Everything we ordered was good- just nothing showstopping that we would be dying to come back for. We had the scallops, mushroom gratin, quail, peaches with ham and tomato salad. Tomato salad was by far the best!
Our food was amazing and beautifully presented. Dj was perfect and the vibe was incredibly intimate.
We went before the theater. Great spot. The cauliflower dish is extremely spicy, only downside for me.
Showing off Asheville to my visiting relatives.
An enjoyable visit to The Market Place. Able to get a table at 8:30 on a Friday night. Shared 4 or 5 small plates between 2 of us. Mac and cheese & charcuterie board (especially the pork belly) are the best.
Service was friendly and competent, food was delicious and just the right amount (we enjoyed the quail and the snapper, and shared the rhubarb strawberry crumble). The live music, a jazz trio, was outstanding. Parking was a bit of a hassle due to an unrelated big event. Would definitely come here again. We chose to sit in the bar, for the music, so was a little more active than the dining area.
Very good restaurant w/ good service d. Definitely enjoyed the foraged chanterelle mushroom gratin & the lentils which served as the side w/ the trout were amazing.
We had a wonderful time at The Market Place. We were greeted warmly, our waiter Randal was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was energetic. We (4) shared a superb mushroom appetizer. Individually we had the steak, quail and trout entrees. They were nicely presented and delicious. The salads were fresh and interestingly plated. The wine and craft beer list was very good. This meal made our most recent trip to Asheville very memorable. Wish we would have found The Market Place sooner. We will be back.
Our waiter was somewhat friendly but the rest of the staff was not at all. My tomato, basil salad was excellent. The Mac and cheese was just ok. My husbands mushrooms were very good and his scallops tasted burnt. If the staff were friendly I could have overloooked the other nagatives!
We enjoyed every bite of the four small plates that we shared. If we are in Asheville again, we will go back and have another wonderful meal at The Market Place Restaurant.
Excellent as always. Prompt service; good menu including small plates. Nice ambiance. I highly recommend The Market Place.
Waiter and food were superb!
Celebrated our anniversary. Restaurant was quiet, food was creative and wonderful (3 small plates), service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely come back.
We were visiting Asheville for the first time and loved the food, ambience, and the service. The mussels were fantastic (and we're from Boston) as was the hand cut pappardelle, braised lamb, roasted oyster mushrooms, confit tomatoes, wild ramp pesto, parmesan, and the wood grilled pork. What a lovely evening!
Great dinner, great service, great wine and fun setting!
The food was excellent and could not ask for any better service. One of the things we had was the mushroom appetizer special which was to die for!!
Excellent as always. Great wine selections and our server was very knowledgeable regarding wines and beers. Seasonal snapper salad was superb; mushrooms less so as some were a bit rubbery although the flavors were good. Pork, beet agnolotti (one of my favorites), mussels, fries and papardelle pasta with lamb were all very good. One of our favorite places to dine in Asheville.
Delicious food and excellent service
Excellent! Will definitely be back. Our server (did not get his name) was exceptional!
Loved everything about this restaurant. We were greeted by the general manager - Justin Stoffregen as soon as we walked in. Our server, Stephanie was great. The food was delicious. We will return.
This was my first dining experience at the restaurant. Lovely decor, and wonderful creative food. Also, I have to mention that everyone could not do enough for us, and were very friendly. The patio looked great and so glad you had one, but just a little to warm that day. Thanks so much for a lovely dining experience.
We have enjoyed the Sunday brunch over the years. However, on this visit the food wasn't up to their standards. I did find the staff assistance was excellent and the ambience nice.
A solid dinner place! Not too fancy, but still good for a nice occasion. All of our dishes were great. The meat and cheese boards were a favorite for the table. It is also great for a large party (there was 8 of us).
We were given multiple recommendations for The Market Place and expected a phenomenal experience. What we got was small portions, ok tasting food, and ridiculous prices. We left $70 out for dinner (2 people without alcohol) and still hungry. We will not be going back.
