The Mariner's Inn
Bill and Betty’s sons, Bill, Jack, and Robert, along with their crew, now carry on the tradition of outstanding hospitality of von Rutenberg Ventures. Waterfront dining on the patio and a sunset over the marina make dinner at Mariner’s an evening to remember.
Excellent food! Excellent service! They always make you feel welcome!
Perfect setting for a celebration or romantic dinner.
Ask for Martha. What a delightful server!
On the water so nice of you
We had a great meal. The staff is also excellent
Beautiful restaurant with beautiful view. Food was fair and was very pricey. Way too pricey for the quality of food we had. I would not go back there. Too pricey for fair food.
It's our favorite steakhouse in Madison area. I've been going since 1971!
Took some visiting relatives to Mariner's. They loved it. It is my favorite place to take friends and family.
Food and drinks were excellent. Our waiter, though, rushed our dinners while we still were eating our salads and then ignored us while smooching up a couple who were obviously spending more. I’m a big tipper for good service—too bad our waiter didn’t find out. Being regulars, it was rather off-putting. We go to other restaurants where we’re treated like family, not simply a dollar sign (or lack thereof) and it will be awhile before we come back.
Great dining experience. Food was perfect and the service was great.
Have never had a bad meal. Steak is always done the way I order it. Meals come with the sides none of that ala carte business. The staff is very friendly and helpful they are willing to accommodate your needs the best they can . I had a wedding rehearsal dinner there and Jack did an awesome job setting it up for us.
Great food! Great service!
Everything was very good, if there was one thing I would say, other than the shrimp the other food could have been warmer. We will definitely be back. The taste of all of the food was very good.
A nice evening of fun good food and a wonderful place to celebrate birthdays
We had a very nice family dinner. We were not seated until quite a bit after our reservation and ended up by the kitchen area but overall, it was very nice. We look forward to our next visit.
I have never been disappointed at the Mariner! The food is excellent. The service is impeccable.
It was excellent. Got there around 6. Not very busy which I was surprised. When we left at 715 it was very busy and that was good to see because the food was amazing. Waiter was very friendly as well. We will definitely be back again.
We went to the 52 anniv. Celebration. Jack, one of the brothers ( middle one) was such a great greeter. My friend couldn't believe how hospitable he was! He even talked to us at the table. We see why they have been @ this long!!
Majority of service staff were very unfriendly and appeared bitter to be working. For the price one is paying, you want to feel appreciated as a guest not an inconvenience.
Even though it was Valentine's day and very crowded, everyone there was very accommodating and kind and made our experience very special.
We had a 7:00 PM reservation and upon arrival were told that it would be 20 to 30 minutes past 7:00 before we would be seated since they had accepted to many 7:00 PM reservations. We were seated in the back (NW) dining room which has the least amount of décor compared to the other dining areas. We ordered the specialty fillet medium and it arrived medium rare at best (basically browned on the outside and red/raw in the inside) and the meat was stringy.... we were very disappointed with our experience at one of Madison's oldest establishments advertising the "very best" steaks.... On the upside, our wait staff did a great job with us.
Had to wait quite a while for a table to be ready despite reservation. Calamari, bread, and mushrooms were excellent. All entrees were “ok”.
I just wish their website would have indicated that they were going to have a reduced menu for Valentines Day. I wasn't able to get what I had wished for. Otherwise all was well
The Mariner's Inn is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always very good, the ambience is great and the service wonderful. Don't forget to order the hash brown potatoes and clam chowder.
We’ve been to The Mariner’s Inn for 4 of the last 5 Valentine’s Days, and have never been disappointed. The food is fantastic, and the staff is wonderful! We can’t recommend it enough.
Awesome awesome awesome food. My fiance returned here for valentine's day for the second time and were just as impressed this time around as the first. I ordered the new york strip steak; it perfectly cooked, hot, and was probably the largest steak i've ever eaten. My fiance ordered the chicken last time and some pasta this time and both have been incredible. The hash browns that are served on the side are to die for, don't miss out. We were seated in the back of the restaurant near a rather noisy, larger table, whereas we were hoping for a quiet meal with a window view, but this by no means detracted from the meal. Can't wait to come back again next year (or before)!
this is our go to place for a drink and an enjoyable dinner
Was disappointed with the limited “Celebration menu” and my lobster tails. Miy wife loved her salmon.
Was Valentine's Day with my best friend . Our waitress was Emily. She was very polite and helped us choose our meal. We had the salmon with stuffed lobster and fried shrimp. Great hashbrowns too. Food was awesome and the service was outstanding.
great food and service, had the salmon stuffed with lobster, very good
Great fish fry and quiet date night.
We eat at The Mariner Inn about once a month and usually attend one of their special occasion buffets, like at Easter. We are always happy with the food and service. They have gluten free items clearly marked on their menu. Their old fashioneds are very good too!
As always, the food was excellent. My steak was so tender you have cut it with a butter knife.
Our dinner was outstanding, steak and shrimp was outstanding as usual.
It was extremely over priced for the quality and amount of food served. Old-fashioned decor. Not our thing.
The whole experience was outstanding! Great food and great service! The Mariner's Inn is an awesome place to celebrate a Birthday!
My husband and I love coming here but it was our first time during Restaurant week. The atmosphere is cozy as always, the bartender and manager were so nice and our waitress, Pam, was wonderful. We had the tenderloin and lobster for our main entree, along with a side of Mariner's famous hashbrowns, and everything was done to perfection! My salad with maple balsamic dressing and my husband's clam chowder were a hit. We had Key Lime pie for dessert and it was so good! We'll be back, that's for sure. Thank you for a wonderful night out!
I would definitely recommend the Mariners to friends and strangers. You can always count on delicious food and excellent service. I encourage you to try their delicious hashbrowns as a side. Their steaks and seafood are the best. I think we have celebrated almost every anniversary at the Mariners and we've been married for 42 years.
Last day of Restaurant Week. Able to try several options. All was great. Highly recommend.
WENT THERE FOR RETAURANT WEEK. STEAK WAS GOOD, SALAD WAS GOOD, BUT NO POTATOE OR VEGGIE WITH MEAK, WAS EXTRA, DID NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL.
The Mariners has been steadily top notch dining in all area, including service, dining atmosphere, outstandingly menu items with the best quality and value. Mariners can not be beat for any occasion or time to dine out. So glad to have this place so close to home.
