The Lion's Share
Last, but not least, they offer hand-crafted cocktails considered amongst the best in the city in an eclectic atmosphere with a friendly staff.
Extremely noisy. Maitre D very rude. Had the duck tots and deer sliders. Very little seasoning and flavor in both. Very disappointing evening.
Drinks were superb, the menu and ambience was beautiful, eccentric and mysterious. Will definitely be coming back!
Elk tartare was great
Great service and cocktails. My entree was good but not the knockout I was hoping for, but that's probably on me skimping a little because of my diet. Dark was good but a little loud for me. Overall a place worth visiting if you like good cocktails with inventive food (lots of game) and a conscientious staff.
Everything was absolutely delicious. I live NY and my wife surprised me with a trip to San Diego about 6 months ago, this is the first place I wanted to try and it didn't disappoint. The service and ambiance was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Service was great! It was definitely busy but our server was still attentive; we never had an empty glass for too long. Cocktails were delicious! Creative and something for everyone. The food menu is interesting with game proteins like venison and rabbit but also the typical chicken and burgers for those not as adventurous. We really enjoyed our evening and plan to return soon.
It was a great experience. I would do it again.
Great place for some creative cocktails with a group of friends
Place is honestly delicious and well worth the trip downtown!!
Cocktails can be very expensive, but happy hour is a good value. The ambiance/decor is great and the food is fantastic. The noise level can be a little loud, especially towards the back of the restaurant. Get a table in the front by the windows if you like more light and a quieter space.
Great food except one dinner was cold. We were given a tall bar table with stools. They were very uncomfortable, we asked to be moved as are over 60yrs but the staff were not interested. Most customers at the same table behind us chose to stand!!
Loved it! Can’t wait to come back. The food was fantastic
I made a mistake with my reservation time. The hostess was able to seat us. If you’re not used to very lean buffalo meat order something else. My son had the duck confit it was fabulous
This is often our neighborhood go-to place for dinner! Always excellent, including the service. On Saturday, our server was David who was friendly and efficient. Everything came just the way we requested. Another great meal!
Amazing food and drinks, great service and ambiance!
Bone-in fillet was exceptionally cooked with a excellent recipe.
Not sure if ownership/management or chefs have changed. This was always our ‘go to’ choice. My carpaccio was so heavily salted I had to send it back. It was literally encrusted in Himilayan sea salt. My french fries arrived and the same thing, loaded with salt and Parmesan cheese. My husband ordered the rabbit pie and it was so dry he only had a few bites.
We ordered a dessert and it was awful too. Still great cocktails, but not sure I would return for anything other than the drinks.
The Lions Share is always a fantastic meal with the best cocktails in San Diego. Restaurant got a little loud when a large conference group invaded the bar area and our server was kind enough to let us move to the front dining room while we finished our final drink of the evening. Wonderful service as well.
My husband and I took my parents to Lion's Share to celebrate their anniversary. They typically don't love dark/loud restaurants (which Lion Share could be categorized as) but they LOVED it. My dad said he had the best steak of his life here. Drinks, appetizers, and meals were delicious. The food took a little while to come out but we weren't in a rush. Definitely recommend.
Love this place !! My husband and I love the design, food and the ART at this place👌🏼
What an unusual find; tucked away by the train tracks. Happy hour & dinner menu were unbelievable. Reasonable prices for gourmet food! Server was excellent & hospitable.
We will definitely return for happy hour.
We’ve been here several times for drinks and sometimes an app at the bar but this was the first time we came to eat a full meal. I gave an extra half star for the fact that there’s always some gamey meats on the menu that you can’t always get elsewhere.
Service was CA standard which is to say it was wanting. Not terrible but the same as many restaurants out here, leaving so much to be desired.
Food and especially cocktails carry this place over the finish line.
We enjoyed an amazing dining experience at The Lion’s Share. The food creations were incredibly inventive and served by a friendly and knowledgeable staff in hearty portions. The vibe was excellent.
Happy hour is the best! Craft cocktails, and great apps!
Great food great atmosphere great service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for a very different experience
So I made reservation for 2, but had another person decide to join us... Was told by hostess that no way that she could take 3 and offered the bar which sort of worked.. There were several 2 tops and had she been creative, could have brought over a chair which while crowded, would have been better than what was offered... Food is good, a little loud at the bar.. Just a word to the wise to make sure you are exact in your reservation as there appears to be no ability to deviate from your reservation....
I usually come alone or with just a couple of folks but this time I brought a few more people and we had a great time. Josh and the team were great as always and a bigger group meant we got to try and share a lot more of the food. But as usual, it was all great and all gone but the time we left. The new seasonal menu had coffee-rubbed carrots and that was a big hit with the table. The other surprise favorite was the coq au vin as it won over one of our folks that is very picky about his CAV. The desserts were great for sharing and the drink menu left us loads to explore. See you soon!!!
We were there for Happy Hour and the food and drinks were over the top! The Moscow mules are The.Best.Ever! Made with fresh ginger. We also tried a specialty drink called Federal Buffalo Stamp that is like a whiskey sour with the same fresh ginger - so good! My husband is a hunter and we thoroughly enjoyed the antelope sliders that were perfectly prepared and the wild boar fries (yummy). The deviled eggs are the best I’ve ever had - 4 different toppings. Our waiter was extremely attentive and the service was impeccable! We will definitely return!
Great place for happy hour with clients Service was wonderful. Very unique menu. I will be back!
The meal was outstanding service excellent the better meals I’ve had in San Diego in the last 10 years I fully understand why it takes so long to get reservations definitely five stars.
Excellent vibe, friendly staff, tasty food, and outstanding drinks. My experience here was a pleasure.
New favorite spot in San Diego by far. I probably have already recommended it to at least five people. Food was PHENOMENAL, drinks were great. Service was good, but nothing outstanding to comment on. Overall, I highly suggest this spot if you want date night, or any night, to exceed standards.
I really enjoy the ambiance, the evolving menu of cocktails as well as starter plates. I also appreciate trying new dishes like the camel tacos.Personally I rarely eat main courses so I can't comment on that part of the menu.
Menu may not be appropriate for less than full on carnivor.
Interesting menu (love that), nice ambiance , attentive server, go eat there!
Hostess was rude and unprofessional but our waiter was exceptionally great.
Every drink and food item we had was phenomenal. Our server was attentive and helpful with recommendations. We sat in the front room- it was quieter than the bar, which can get loud. Try the wild boar fries and the rabbit hand pie!
It was SO loud in this restaurant that we as a group just gave up trying to talk. We asked to be moved to another table but it was a 6 top so we were told no as we were 4. About 30 minutes later a party of 4 was seated there.
My wild burger was very good. Bolognese was “ok”. Our waiter tried hard but we seriously couldn’t hear him almost the entire time. Very disappointing experience.
