The Laughing Gravy
Relaxed and inviting, we offer an incredible menu of fresh, seasonal dishes with a well-chosen wine list that reflects our attention to detail.
Occupying the ground floor of an original foundry building, the restaurant, which is in walking distance from both the Old and Young Vic, seats up to 50 diners and has a buzzy bar.

Very lovely staff, Sunday roast was fantastic, drinks were great. Definitely going there again!
Fantastic roasts. After all these years, still the best in London! A lively, cosy restaurant. Very busy (as you would expect) but good value and always a fun experience.
A little out of the way up Blackfriars Rd, unassuming frontage, inside contemporary and pleasant atmosphere. Food great, service excellent attentive without being hovering. Overall a great place to eat.
Highly recommended for amazing food and great service!
The Laughing Gravy (which I’ve only known as the name of a dog in a Laurel & Hardy movie!) is a true gem. Faultless service, inventive and delicious dishes in a relaxing environment. Never fails to impress me or my companions. A definite must visit - frequently!
Amazing food & brilliant service. Never disappoints!
Had a long walk up from St George’s Circus to Holborn, Bank & back.
Looked for an independent place to eat & so pleased we found this.
enjoyed lunch here on the weekend, nice bright dining room, good choice on the menu. For my starter I had a scotch egg (with scallops rather than ham) presentation was gorgeous and I loved this starter. Had market fish for main, portion was very large but enjoyed it nonetheless. didn't have dessert. The place was very quiet with only one other table which made it lovely and quiet but I did feel bad for the business! hoping that things pick back up soon. Enjoyed the Gavi and some coffee.
Consistently good - we are so lucky to have Laughing Gravy on our doorstep!
Awesome food and great dining area as always - great to see it still going strong after the lockdown
Amazingly good beef on a Sunday lunchtime, with efficient and charming service. would thoroughly recommend.
Lovely place! delicious roast and excellent service!
Great return visit to one of our favourite London restaurants for Sunday lunch. Always great food and great service.
An excellent meal served in a comfortable ambience.
The service was good, staffs are nice and friendly. Sunday roasts were tasty but beef was chewy. The lamb was nice and tender. The dish was big but the meat portion was too small few slices of beef and lamb. Love the doughnut and blueberry tart that we had for dessert
Best roast I've had in London. Highly recommended for a nice quiet Sunday lunch.
Very attentive Waiter and staff, pleasant and friendly.
Favourite Sunday roast in London, the food is always beautifully presented and staff are very friendly. Definitely recommend
The quality of the food is superb, quality ingredients and wonderfully cooked. Service was friendly and attentive
It’s a long time since I was here and it’s got even better. The food was excellent and the service timely and friendly.
We had a really nice lunch.
Really good food and staff.
There’s a reason why we keep coming back to this place - it’s superb!
Amazing as always. I do think the menu need a little updating, probably do a special once a week? Just a thought. Can’t fault the food, just maybe I tried everything on it already! Friendly service, good banter :)
Never disappoints - friendly, great food and wine. My favourite local restaurant.
Delicious roast lunch at The Laughing Gravy - between us we had the chicken, lamb and beef and they were all excellent.
Thank you so much.
What a gem this place is. The place was busy without being noisy, service was top-noth and the food was creative and absolutely outstanding. Each course, from the scotch egg starter, fish mains banana delice dessert was so well executed. Definitely visiting again.
Amazing service, food and drinks. Love it! Thank you
Lovely meal again at the laughing gravy would recommend if anyone is in the area. Last night service was very slow but the meal very tasty. Be prepared to pay a bit more for it though!
This felt like a hidden gem. It was a perfect setting for any occasion. I felt I could have come with a friend for a classy evening and it worked perfectly as a date meal this time around. Lovely staff, delicious food and beautiful restaurant. The venison wellington was insanely good.
Brilliant experience from start to finish. We were offered the opportunity to eat either inside or outside. We were quickly provided with "old fashioned" paper menus when I was struggling with the APP (so if you prefer these do ask!). Service was impeccable and very patient with our slow decision making. The food was absolutely delicious. It was very quiet, perhaps owing to its location and it being a weekend. Definitely hope to return.
Fantastic food, excellent service. Staff were friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. Lovely atmosphere.
Returned to The Gravy for the first time since October and all 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teens) loved it. Food beautifully presented and delicious, staff very friendly and very relaxed environment. Small independent restaurants like this really stand out to me these days as the kind of place that I want to visit and enjoy.
We got to the Laughing Gravy late so, unfortunately, we’re fairly rushed. However, the croissant pudding was outstanding. Ticked every box for me!
Amazing food and service, would recommend to anyone (especially the Wellington!)
Starter was disappointing, main courses very good, and desert average.
Food was great as always, so nice to be back in restaurants again.
Welcoming little restaurant, nice atmosphere, food good presentation and delicious. The salted caramel sticky toffee desert was memorable topped with good service.
The best sunday roast south of the river! - and more besides. Delicious food served by friendly and attentive staff with good wines too. As for the gravy, well it's so tasty you should ask for a spoon to take up every last drop.
I hadn't been for a few years but have always loved this place and it still does not disappoint!
Sunday roast was nice🍽
