Went for dinner to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. Everything was excellent. Great service, good drinks, timely arrival of food. The rock fish was grilled to perfection, moist and delicious with lump crab, risotto, and sauces. Salmon was also delicious. Dessert was an amazing pineapple bread pudding with coconut sauce. Menu may be pricey for some, but well worth it. About $55 per person including drinks and dessert.

Easter brunch. Expected a brunch ( buffet). Service started slow (watching later determined the waiter also had tables outside so looked like management had spread him a little thin) but the food made up for everything.

Our experience was a bit mixed. The service was quite slow. We very much enjoyed the appetizers (duck stew and charcuterie board), but my beef was not cooled to the temperature I requested and my husband's scallops were fine, but not great. Additionally, I question why they continued to seat people on either side of us when there were other open tables. I'm on crutches and it made it a bit cramped, not to mention less private. Probably will not return soon.

This was a birthday celebration. The food tasted wonderful! Our server was attentive. It was a little noisy, but it was very casual. We opted to take the drive to get here (over 25 miles). Not sorry at all. It is hard to find places with such good flavors that try not to be really exotic. I had the crab-stuffed flounder and my husband had the NY strip which was on special. Both of us totally enjoyed our food. They were cooked perfectly. Everything was top-notch. This is a great place for special occasions.

family and friends met at the landing for dinner and we all had a great time. the food was very good, especially the salmon! Our server Kim was very friendly and helpful. was a bit loud in there but not a problem. you probably need a reservation...all tables were full.

My wife and I had the haddock special and it was excellent although a bit pricey at $36 per entree. The price point given the quality of the food would be appropriate if the restaurant didn’t have the feel of one if the mid priced chain restaurants. Overall the food way outshines the ambiance. Any seat on the left side (away from the bar) will have have somebody looking into the service entrance to the kitchen. The food quality is clearly a strength but there are many other restaurants in Virginia Beach that have equal quality but offer some ambiance at equal or lower prices.

Outstanding experience. We happened to go during restaurant week and had an amazing three-course dinner. Service was on-point, and the manager came over to check on us. The dinner was fantastic. Lobster bisque was perfect - not just loaded with heavy cream. We had the seared scallops and sweet potato encrusted salmon. Both we would get again in a heartbeat. I had the bread pudding for dessert, which was also delicious. Again, impressive meal all around and great service. So happy we decided to go.

Was really surprised and disappointed by this restaurant. There is no atmosphere or ambience... it was pretty dead the night we were there but I was told it can get loud. The waitress was very good. The food was hot... the 1st course was fried shrimp and they were pretty good not Steinhiblers quality but good. The salmon was good and there was a sauce on the plate which was tasty. The small bit of spinach was good but could have been more of it and then there was a hugh amount of an unidentifiable starch, which was lumpy and tasteless. My husband thought it was potatoes... dessert was a lemon something cake which was not memorable...

I was very excited to try this restaurant because I heard good reviews, However, I met worst waiter and he ruined our girls night out.
He showed irritation toward us because one of hour guest showed up hour late of reservation time, and told us usually guests not stay two hours and because she was late they had to push our time 5:30 to 8pm, means extended 30 min. I did not know Restaurant policy but I would understand and be pleased if he explained nicely! He was very rude, gave us pressure to order, and eat and leave..
He did not deserve any tips, he was so fake as a waiter. Because of this reason, we had a very bad impression of this restaurant. I hope they hire better waiter.

Food was delicious and perfectly prepared. Our waiter, Chris was great and made great suggestions. The hostess was a mess. We had reservations and were shuttled around three times because our table wasnt ready. After telling us we could go the bar, she came back and told us we couldnt sit at a table next to the bar, then several minutes later told me that our table was ready and while I paid the bartender, she came back and over explained why she couldn't give us the table after all. Another several minutes and she finally seated us a half hour after our reservation. Again, food was amazing and we will be back. Just not on a holiday.

At booking I was asked to provide a credit card to hold my reservation since it was for Valentine's Day, which I didn't have a problem with. My problem was being told after I had given them my credit card number that if I cancelled it was a 150.00 cancellation fee and there was a preset 4 course meal, but the menu was not provided. First I ordered a Malibu and pineapple juice, they were out of rum. For my first course I ordered the she crab soup, it was too thick for my liking, I told the waiter I didn't like it, he picked up my bowl, headed to the kitchen, came out of the kitchen and walked pass me numerous of times without saying a word. My friend finally called him and asked if I could get a salad in place of the soup, he said he would ask his manager. I guess he said yes because they brought me a salad, which was good. My second course was fried shrimp, that was good. I was happy to see lamb chops on the menu for the third course, but that was sold out and it's only 6:30, so I ordered the steak. We sat there for 30 minutes waiting on our food while people who had came after us had their food. So I called the waiter and asked about our order and he said it was coming out. Then he comes back and tells us the kitchen had lost our ticket, and offered us a drink while we waited. My food came out cold, so I told him to just bag it up to go. My friend had the duck, I wish I had taken a picture of it, he said it tasted like it came out of a can. For the fourth course I had the cheese cake to go, which I didn't like at all, my friend had a brownie which he said was ok. We were there for 2 hours and not once did our waiter offer to fill our water glasses. He was very engaging to the tables beside us. We left there and went to Dairy Queen and had chilli dogs, best meal of the night. So basically we wasted our time and 200.00. I would never go to the Landing again.

Overall a great experience! The appetizer took a while to be served and the waitress seemed busy. However, she was very knowledgeable and very nice. The food was great and the bourbon and wine lists were impressive. We will definitely come back and bring friends.

Awful brunch. I went to the restaurant after it was recommended by a friend. We were so disappointed. We ordered steak bites and pork belly tacos for appetizers. The steak bites were unimpressive - no char on the outside...just grey meat. The tacos on the other hand were very good. We had 3 salads ordered and one seafood omelette. One salad was to come without dressing and the other without dressing or croutons. Both came with dressing and croutons. That wouldn't be so bad, but the salads were doused in dressing. The chicken on the caesar was so salty it made you cringe. The 3rd salad was ok. The omelette was nothing exciting and lacked flavor, although the tator tots that came with it were very good. Overall I was VERY disappointed considering I heard such good things. Perhaps dinner is better?? Based on this experience though, I won't be going back and neither will our friends.

Everything was excellent. Good variety on the menu, lots of choices. I had the fried green tomatoes which were a little harder than I would have liked, but they are not in season either. The salmon was very good and the risotto that came with the salmon was outstanding.

Food terrific! Service terrific! Enjoyed it very much.

As always the food was beyond excellent. We started with the scallop appetizer with literally melted in my mouth. Then we had the Sweet Potato Salmon and Crub stuffed Flounder and both were amazing.

I have been waiting to eat there for quite some time and I finally had the opportunity. I was not disappointed. The food and service were top notch. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. The food is a little pricey but the quantity and quality were worth it. Maybe not a place I would eat everyday but definitely a great place to go for a special occasion.

First time visiting for dinner,the food was excellent esp. the Oyster Rockefeller! Probably the best I have ever had! I suggest they need to update the menu price for the oysters to be more accurate. I just wanted one as the menu suggest 2.50 per price. But the waiter stated there was a 4 oyster rockerfellar minumiun. Would be better that they mention that on the menu as $10 not 2.50 a piece. A little misleading. The freshest, local seafood was outstanding. Enjoyed the salmon which was crispy on top, a little overcooked inside but overall the flavor was yummy! Our server was prompt and very up to date on drink recommendations. Great service overall! Highly recommend the fabulous home made desserts too! We enjoyed a hefty size portion of the peach & whiskey bread pudding to split. More than enough to share. The only negative experience was after we had made reservations, when we arrived on time, we were told to wait for a table to be cleaned while waiting in a tight entrance and other customers were seated before us that came after we arrived. Not a great first impression but Overall I highly recommend due to our server and the food and will come back.

We would absolutely recommend The Landing to all. I had the crab cakes which were lump and moist and my husband had the paella which was a rare find in this area. Will definitely go again for a great dinner.

The Landing is always good. It's a favorite of ours now. However, the food this visit wasn't as good as we've come to know or expect. If the bar wasn't so high there, we would have been fine with it. But, the bar is high there...a little disappointed this time.

This was my first visit to The Landing and it will not be my last. First of all, I can't speak for the other servers, but Kirk was awesome! He has this wonderful demeanor, very knowledgeable and most of all, experience. I didn't catch his name but the head server who told us everything on the charcuterie board was very helpful and even though we weren't his table, he came back to ask how we were enjoying the cheese and meats. The atmosphere is upscale casual and the tables are far enough apart not to feel crowded. We started with the charcuterie board and it's one of the best I've ever had. From presentation to taste and textures, it touched every part of my senses. My friend had the lamb shank and she loved it. She liked the fact they put potatoes with it (not something too fancy - it was perfect for such a luxurious protein) and it felt like upscale comfort food. I had the sweet potato crusted salmon and it was wonderfully cooked (I left that to chef's recommendation) and the parmesan risotto was amazing!
I could have made a meal out of the starters. An entire page of those plus an abundance of proteins, etc. The wine list was also quite extensive. If I had one knock on our evening, it was the dessert selection. With so many well thought out main courses and starters, the 5 selections of desserts were uninspired. The only thing with any exotic flair or personal touch was the Peach Whisky bread pudding. Everything else was just... well, simple and what you can find at any other restaurant. I would have expected a place with such an amazing menu to develop more. At least one dessert with berries or any fruit (not in a bread pudding) for that matter. Bananas Foster isn't seen around here that much and would have fit in nicely.
One last note. When I left my credit card at the restaurant they made sure to secure it for me and were so helpful when I went back in to get it!
