Probably one of the worst meals I’ve endured in some time. We were delayed arriving but still arrived within the published grace period and the lady on the door tried to refuse us entry until I pointed out the time and the policy details. She also tried another confusing method to refuse us regarding the outside area being closed after 9pm despite that being the time we were booked for and was about as non-welcoming as you can possibly be but we managed to get our table. After that we were told we had limited time at the table, were then ignored, when we ordered they forgot to actually put the starters through so nothing came out, our server just dropped us and started on a different section, and the food was much worse than I’d experienced at other Ivy restaurants. The place was a complete mess with too many people inside and felt like a Bella Italia being ransacked by a boozed up mob. Awful. Avoid.

Last night was probably the worst service and food I’ve ever experienced at Ivy market grill. It very slow , the food quality was below average. Even the stuff that was served seemed like was just plopped on a plate. The staff were very miscoordinated. Something as simple as - wine was ordered with dinner, it never got served even as we finished dinner. Also, I think in an attempt to expand capacity , they have setup tables downstairs, which just had no ambience and there was an obvious disconnect between the staff and service.

The food was very good but then I expected it to be. The restraint was very busy and the wasn’t a great deal of care and passion in the service. Having eaten in the Ivy in Birmingham this particular restaurant does quite match up. The ambiance and decor was ok but thought it could have been better, just didn’t meet my expectations of the Ivy brand. It was my wife’s birthday and whilst the referenced it on entry nothing was done to mark it, unlike they did for three other diners. Perhaps because it was summer and very busy but feel very let down.

Really poor service. Got starter order wrong and all can put at different times. Got sat near bar area and had people at bar turning round asking what we were eating. Dress code dropped. Waited 15 minutes for bill then further 15 to pay

The service was shocking, the starters where taken away before one guest had finished eating, the mains where in our table less than 2 minutes later, the fish had not been cooked the batter was raw, we and to wait 15 minutes after out booking time to sit down at a table, just a complete disappointment from a restaurant I've been many time before

Food was decent but the tables were crammed in so for our table I had to shuffle sideways to the next table trying not to know over their drinks. Several staff seem to be new so saw a few mishaps with orders wrong or food going to the wrong table. Probably wouldn't go back again.

To eat a two course meal with a table booked for 5pm with a theatre curtain up at 7pm is extremely tight. This should be made clear on booking. Anxiety of slow service due to very busy staff detracts from the enjoyment. Food was of excellent quality. Would recommend, but not as a venue for pre theatre meal.

This is my 3rd consecutive visit to this restaurant with a bad experience with both service and food. My steak was over cooked, half of the order was wrong and had to be corrected - and staff acted annoyed with me and I ultimately felt unwelcome. Similar issues in my last 2 visits.

The service wasn’t great at all. Very hot day and it took over 15 mins for us to be approached for drinks, then the food arrived before the drinks. We weren’t approached again and had to track someone down so we could pay the bill. Not what you would expect in a restaurant such as this. Been to a few other Ivy restaurants, they have always been amazing. This one was disappointing.

Upon arrival (at the time we booked), we were asked to wait while the table was set up. It was very busy, there was nowhere to sit and the staff were rushing around in a frantic way. When we were seated the waitress took our order without writing it down and when the food arrived, mine wasn’t what I’d ordered. I had to ask the waiter to take my friends meal away while they cooked my order. The food was nice but expensive for what it was. We had 2 cocktails each (Mango Colada) the first was in a tall cocktail glass with garnish, the second was in a tumbler with no garnish. Very disappointed - an expensive afternoon for what have should have been a treat.

Lovely food and a happy time, but the service was very slow. It’s nice not to feel rushed but we waited almost 30 minutes to be served at the bar, then after ordering our food waited another 40 mins for it to arrive. Our table booking was 1:45. (We were a little early, so waited at the bar). Didn’t get food until after 2:45! Didn’t risk dessert as we were on way to theatre and didn’t want to be kept waiting and miss the start of the show at 4pm

It was a hot sunny day, tables were very close together, first drinks came after the first course which we waited bout 45 mins for, we’re given water after about 20 mins. Main course arrived about 1.5 hours after we were seated. We had to ask for the bill before we’d finished the main course as we were going to be late for a Show. Overall I expected much better, disappointed as we were celebrating my Uncle's 82nd Birthday

Booked for a special occasion and whilst the booking process and food where excellent the service let it down. One of our party is gluten intolerant and where informed by the staff to scan the qr code on the main menu. No advice was given. Staff constantly leaned over us to put plates on the table rather than walk around and place in front of each person. My sauce for my main meal was spilt onto the table and waiter just left it! Extra items where added to the bill but quickly rectified when we pointed them out. It was a hot evening but the staff who were serving us really looked like they did not want to be there and ruined what should have been a special night.

We did book last minute for a special occasion so it was great that we could be accommodated. I have been to The Ivy a number of times in Leeds and Harrogate but not in London. I would say the experience was quite different. It was much more lively and noisy (which I understand is the vibe at Covent Garden and didn’t mind at all). The cocktails were fab - we had the Ivy punch - and not overpriced. We ate from the set menu and this was a little disappointing. The Bang Bang chicken starter was lovely but the main - pasta with a duck ragu sauce was not great. We all had the same and we were all underwhelmed. Sauce was thin and watery and not tasty at all. Not a great meal but overall price was good for two courses and cocktails. Think we just made a poor choice from the set menu.

We were crammed in. The tables either side were so close you could not have a private conversation. The table had to be moved to get in and out. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy. Stick is all in 1 part. The waiter was curt and unhelpful. Apparently sparkling water is served at room temperature. It’s was 35 degrees! I asked for ice 3 times. Ordered a second bottle of water and ice again after main course. Eventually arrived after desert. Had to ask again for ice. Couldn’t drink it as time up on the table. I will not visit again and it is my favourite restaurant when I’m in time which is often

Love the Ivy but this was our first time at the Market Grill. Disappointed! Cramped in like sardines despite requesting a specific type of table for my birthday. Wished a Happy Birthday on arrival but nothing else - unusual. Waiter overly busy so had to remind him several times of requests. Very hot! Underwhelmed by the food. Overall not the standard previously experienced at the original Ivy. An expensive waste.

If booking a table outside, request to not be seated in the direct sun. I know it’s a heatwave at the moment but it was so uncomfortable and it took 3 separate requests until they allowed us to move. Service was quite slow, sitting (in the direct sun) for 40 minutes before we were asked what we would like to drink. Had to re ask for a glass of ice 3 times before it arrived. Waiters were polite etc, was just obvious they were under staffed. Food was delicious. Probably wouldn’t come again

I had a date day in London with my husband. The Ivy Market Grill was the perfect location for lunch. The service was flawless and the food was second to none. Our waiter did ask if it was a special occasion. I said not really, however it’s my birthday on Tuesday. They did a special dessert for me with a candle. Just thought that was a lovely touch. I had the scallops to start with followed by the salmon. All cooked beautifully. Will definitely be returning.

Ivy Market Grill was FANTASTIC!! Food, service and the whole restaurant was excellent. We went for breakfast and had the pancakes and eggs Benedict. Would definitely recommend both of the dishes. When we booked the table we wrote on the booking that it was our first wedding anniversary. Not thinking anything of it on the morning after we had finished out breakfast the staff brought us over a little treat and wished us a happy anniversary. Made both our days and finished our fantastic week in London as we traveled back home by train! If you haven’t been here before then get a table booked!!
