Ivy Kensington Brasserie
Sample our extensive range of quality food and delicious cocktails at your leisure from breakfast until late, whether you are a local resident, work close by or are visiting some of London’s best loved landmarks such as The Royal Albert Hall.
Our garden terrace is situated at the back of our restaurant and provides the perfect respite away from the hustle and bustle of the high street. Adorned with flowers and foliage, it is the perfect spot to soak up the sun during the summer months. Due to the nature of British summer our terrace cannot be booked ahead, so please just pop in.
Open seven days a week and comprised of a main restaurant, bar and a semi-private table for ten for an extra special experience, The Ivy Kensington Brasserie provides the perfect setting for any occasion.
We came to celebrate my fathers birthday. Overall was a nice experience. The service was exceptional, food was ok. A bit more gravy with the dish would have been great. Also odd to specify what the occasion is we are attending for but the restaurant doesn’t then do anything with that info. In the past for a birthday at a different Ivy they gave a single bite dessert which was a nice addition. All in all a lovely experience and would recomend.
Staff should encourage diners to hang up their coats. We were given a tiny table and there was hardly any room to sit on the bench as diners left and right had deposited their bags and coats on the bench seat.
The toilets were dirty, a member of staff fetched a dustpan when this was pointed out, but some more thorough housekeeping was needed.
Loved the Christmas decorations. All in all, felt a bit scruffy around the edges compared to other Ivy cafes.
Service was pretty poor. Wrong drinks, rude waiter. Food fine and decor lovely. Try another venue as others I have been too were far friendlier.
Fantastic meal in beautiful restaurant. Great service.
It's expensive and it's noisy. But the food is excellent and the service cannot be faulted. So overall it's a great experience.
Fab birthday lunch treat for my mum. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and sat next to Brian May!
Lovely building, great food (if slightly costly) and good service for the most part. Made to feel very welcome and the table service was very good. However, as we were leaving the staff were busy chatting with each other and didn’t even wish us goodbye - I guess we’d already paid our money by then!
This place may be formulaic but it's a very good formula. The food is varied and ambitious but they do it well.
The Ivy Brasserie was a very disappointing experience. The serving lady told us we only have 2 hours, which is fine but this should have been made clear to us at the beginning. When we asked the server what was in one of the dish... her respond was i think it’s this etc... she was very unsure and did not bother asking the kitchen.
The chicken dish which I ordered said crispy skin which was not crispy at all and very tasteless.
One of my friend had tummy problem after eating the risotto rice. We would not want to go back to the Ivy again
Ambience is great, but on this visit, service really let it down. Part of order was missed, specials and menu were not explained, everything g seemed disconnected and rushed. Food also disappointed this time, colleagues salmon was fine by my chicken was very dry. Hopefully once the Christmas rush is past service and food quality will return to the usual high standard.
We had the set menu. The food is a very good standard compared to other similar priced menus I have had. Excellent service and a comfortable atmosphere made it a lovely evening for us. Would recommend and definitely go back again.
Service and food excellent. Great buzz. Would certainly visit again.
We booked in for a late lunch on Friday. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy but we were in no hurry. We had as ever an excellent meal. We are old friends meeting up, so had lots to talk about. At no point were we rushed in fact the opposite. The staff were nothing but polite and friendly. Have eaten here and at other Ivys many time. The food is served very well presented and is full of flavour. One of the best burgers I have ever had and my friends steak and eggs looked amazing. We had a lovely Gin and Tonic followed by a good Australia Shiraz. Followed by a couple more g&t’s. In total we happily lost four hours talking, eating and drinking. Lovely afternoon, thank you.
Food and food service excellent but drinks service to the table was extremely slow. Overall a great experience and would return.
Very busy - and very poor service. Our table wasn’t ready so we had to hang out by the bar - where there is absolutely no room. Once seated we ordered drinks, but had to wait for a further 25 minutes for our food order to be taken. When the food arrived it was good enough, but the waiter had clearly messed up the order and forgotten a few side dishes - which arrived ten minutes after everything else. We skipped dessert. We came once before and endured a similar experience. I’m not sure that we shall bother again...
The cocktails were very good. The food was also good although not very memorable. Our server lacked the ability to be attentive and therefore made the occasion less than it could have been with better service. The Christmas decor and hostesses made the evening more cheery and helped to balance the lack luster service.
Great food and early dinner menu is great value. Service was poor, over complicated and as a result lacking attentiveness.
Loved the ambiance and the food was delicious. I had crab cake and salmon from the set menu.
Went w 4 friends, this is the 4th time we go with the same group. While generally everything is fine this time service was a total let down. Took several attempts to get basic things. Maybe is end of the year fever!
The food was good but the service was not to a standard I would expect of a restaurant at this price bracket. We were moved on from the table quite officiously despite them have just taken an order for drinks at the end of the meal. The place is very noisy - not great if you want to have a converstion
Nice premises and good food. Will go bakc there if I am in the surrounding
My friend and I met for lunch. The Ivy Brasserie is always decorated beautifully and the food was especially festive. We both really enjoyed our squash dish with grains, and feta. Delicious.
good food. good service at the table. terrible experience at the entrance. entitled obnoxious unhelpful hosts at reception and very arrogant manager.
Much too noisy, unable to hold a conversation.
Will not invite people there in the future.
I have been here before for breakfast it was amazing. However I booked for breakfast 11.30 which it allowed me to book on open table. When we arrived they told us they were no longer doing breakfast and that the rules had changed. We were given the main menu and Lunch menu. Which I believe was about £18 for a 2 course. I ordered the onion soup it was nice, the others ordered the crab cake which were nice. Our mains were Lamb which was ok the lamb was quite fatty and the mash was not nice couldn't eat it. My mother ordered the salmon she said that was lovely. My brother and wife ordered steak egg and chips which they said was ok nothing spectacular, that they would not return. I have been to a few of the Ivy branches and have usually had a good experience. I brought my family there as they came over from abroad but they didn't enjoy it unfortunately. I would return for breakfast only if I was to go again.
Food was outstanding although service was slow. But altogether had a lovely time
Lovely ambience, especially with the Christmas decorations. Good choice of good. The eggs royale were amazing. Obviously organic very fresh eggs with a really orange yolk. Best I've ever tasted. Good service but not pushy or rushed. Perfect.
Lovely food and festive atmosphere - waitress was grumpy and obviously wished she was somewhere else which was a shame!
Too busy and little customer care. Ambience is great especially at Xmas !
Great venue but the service was awful, it took 20 mins for our coffee/drinks to arrive. A collection of different waiters got our orders wrong. Most of the staff seemed disinterested. The food was fine but the waiter forgot the side order that came with the meal. We were then ignored by most of the staff for about 20-30mins until they needed the table. Quite poor.
Poor service. Brought wrong order twice. My poached eggs were overcooked.
Very nice restaurant. Tables were a little close to each other but food and service was excellent.
We had a really nice meal - great food and service! However, it is quite noisy, but nothing unusual for London dining!
Service dreadful wrong main course later arrival of one starter order a beer 3 times waited 20 mins
All was perfect except the cleanness of toilets that needs to be taken care of.
Fish & chips mostly batter and very little fish.otherwise very enjoyable
We have been to 3 Ivys in London. The Ivy Kensington brasserie was lovely. Service was fantastic as always with the Ivys. Food was stunning as always!! They also took my request that it was my friends birthday and brought out a little cake for her!
Duck curry was amazing
As always the food is very good. Sadly the service was horrendous having to repeatedly ask for service. This is not the first Ivy brasserie to suffer from bad service. Chelsea Ivy was the same. It is a shame as the food ambience is very good.
Our arrival experience was very poor- there was an implied threat to let our table go if we were not there on time. So we left some champagne at home to arrive on time but we were told our table wasn’t ready and we should/could go to the bar. However the bar was very crowded and I asked to see the manager who appeased me to a degree and said he would give some nibbles which he did. But after that he made no attempt to check that all was well, in fact he seemed to positively ignore us.
The food and service were very good, but the noise level very high and the table, screwed in place, was very tight.
