The Ivy Inn Restaurant
My wife and I went to celebrate her birthday. The food was outstanding and the service attentive and friendly. Great experience and would definitely go back.
We always enjoy the Ivy Inn. Every dish our group had was perfect. We'll certainly be back.
A reliably lovely dinner every time.
Magnificent. From ambiance to service to delectable food, The Ivy Inn delivers no matter the occasion. Can’t wait to come again!
One of the few places left where you can enjoy a great dinner and actually converse with your dinner companions. Our waiter was kind and helpful. My tenderloin was tender and delicious and I noticed a lot of clean plates for those who ordered the trout. The apple crisp was great but my serving could have fed a family of 4 😉. Highly recommended.
Wonderful in all respects. Great venue, great atmosphere, and great food!
Food was excellent. Service was slow initially but was fine once several tables left. The restaurant has several small and intimate dining rooms, which are lovely but can become quite loud and possibly making private conversation difficult.
They went over and beyond to help celebrate my husbands birthday. A great place for any occasion!
UVA Meeting. Server was a bit odd, but experience overall was great
Beautiful meal, well cared for. The food was incredible. The staff treated us so incredibly well. We felt spoiled.
The food was great, what really stood out to me was the service. They were over and above.
Immediate attention and great service.
Outstanding food quality as always with excellent seasonal additions. If there is any form of charcuterie on the menu it is a must order.
This restaurant never ceases to please. It never falters. From our talented server who took drink orders by memory and returned them swiftly to the perfectly timed courses that fit together even though we ordered in unusual ways; 2 apps and a salad to fit with pasta and a meal etc. Every bite was taken (as usual) and we left with excitement about coming back soon!
It wasn't exactly Monticello, but Ivy House Inn fairly reeks southern hospitality. Though it must be hard to serve guests--spread as the restaurant is across 4-5 rooms on two levels--the wait staff never arrived at our table out of breath; they instead proved attentive, patient, and informed service to the four tables in our room. The amuse bouche and the small cookies accompanying after-dinner coffee evoked another era, though the pear martini was au courant. I appreciated the local treats we rarely see in California: collard greens with pot likker, pimento cheese, shrimp & grits while my husband and son made more traditional fine dining choices: salmon, duck, and imaginative salads. Compared to other restaurants we sampled on our visit to C'ville, we felt Ivy Inn provided good value at a more modest price.
This was only our second time to the Ivy Inn and again, we found the service, the food, the ambiance impeccable. We had one gluten-free restriction and they made each accommodation seamless and special, including the amuse-bouche and tiny sweet treat at the end of our meal. Highly recommend the gumbo, ham biscuits, pork and for dessert- apple crisp and key lime pie. The atmosphere is so comfortable (we were seated upstairs) because each room feels cozy without feeling crowded. And the waitstaff was present without being overbearing. Truly a special place for a special occasion.
The good here is outstanding!
All seasonal local produce , mushrooms, duck confit, fish.
Make sure you make room for dessert , out if this world!
We had the lemon meringue ice box ❤️to die for
What’s not to like?? Happy I finally got here...a highly recommended bucket list restaurant. We will be back!
visiting in the area saw the reviews decided to go and were not disappointed. The food was excellent our waitress friendly ,competent and attentive. My wife had the scallops and I had the trout. Casual dress a plus for the travelers.
We really enjoyed our visit. The food was delicious, and the service great! We will definitely return!
The best meal in Charlottesville! Classic, clean, delicious food, from locally sourced and seasonal offerings. Exquisite bison steak, cooked to perfection! And not above serving simple ice cream, made in house, without more. The mark of a confident restaurant! An invaluable plus: quiet surroundings for good conversation. Priceless!!
Excellent food served in a comfortable setting (building appeared to be an old house). The wedding party in adjacent room was a bit loud, but that is to be expected and it did not interfere with my or my wife's enjoyment of our dinner. Price was very acceptable for an anniversary or other special dinner. This is definitely on my list of re-visits next time we are in the Charlottesville area.
We went there for our 40th anniversary.
The food was excellent and the price was reasonable. The shrimp gritz appetizer was delicious and Trout with skin was excellent.
The place was small and old style.
A great place for special occasion.
Food/drinks were incredible....Ashley our server was over the top incredible⭐️⭐️⭐️
Everything was simply wonderful. Plan to be back in Charlottesville in 2 weeks and will eat there again
Servers were very nice but very slow (or spread thin; many dining rooms makes it hard to tell, but very nice ambiance), and often didn’t refill our drinks in a timely manner. Also, surprised at (small) portion size of empanadas appetizers...really too small to comfortably share for 2, let alone 3 or 4.
Food was outstanding, and we did appreciate the server’s completely unprompted offer of free dessert as an apology for long waits. Seemed like more of a staffing issue than a server issue.
Food and atmosphere were nice, however wait staff not friendly.
Outstanding restaurant. The service was exceptional. The food was off the charts.
I enjoyed a birthday dinner with good friends. The menu was very good and had good variety. The service was much better than in previous visits. Everyone enjoyed it.
Returned after having not had the opportunity for several years and found that The Ivy Inn is still as wonderful as it has always been. Table for 4 was ready upon arrival. Very cozy, subdued lighting with an old English feel. Our drink orders were promptly taken and served by our waitress who I wish I could rate 10 stars rather than the maximum 5.
All dinners were excellent and we stayed an extra half hour just enjoying our surroundings. Cannot recommend this spot highly enough.
My husband I went there for my birthday. Ashley was a terrific waitress, friendly and efficient. We both had a pork entree and a house salad. They were both delicious. My apple tart was tasty and the husband had some sort of toffee flavored cake, which he enjoyed. And we got free champagne and a personalized menu! It was a fun night.
It was very nice.
Food us always excellent. Quiet atmosphere. Easy parking.
I have eaten here twice before with great meals. This visit the food was underwhelming in comparison good but not great. Very attentive staff. Gave free drink for birthday. Lovely setting.
The chef is amazing. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order. We got the shrimp and grits and ivy mixed green salad which were delicious as starters. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce and the best potatoes I’ve had. Also apple crisp with pecan ice cream was icing on the cake.
The service was excellent, the food was outstanding.
Food was outstanding! One of the best steaks I’ve had in quite some time. Six of us dined together... all different items... all done really well. Our waitress was a bit stiff, that was the only down side.
Friendly staff, delicious food, attentive service. Took my friend for her birthday & they were wonderful! Sent out special treats.
Food was delicious and martini was spot on. Wait staff was very attentive. They accommodated us early due to our Uber getting us there 30 minutes before our reservation. Highly recommend this place.
Even though the inn is in an old house, the restaurant did a nice job in accommodating our group of 4 that has some accessibility issues. Several of us enjoyed the trout while others liked the multiple pork dish. And the shrimp and grits appetizer was great. Service was a bit slow but overall we really enjoyed the dinner and will be returning.
