About this restaurant

Seasonal Local American Cuisine. We use many local products from local farmers. We are located about a mile west of the University of Virginia campus. Historic old home turned into a restaurant. Three small intimate dining rooms upstairs, one on the ground floor and a large weather protected patio. In the winter the Patio is heated. Family owned since 1995. Special diet needs met upon request.

    Amazing place. Loved the food and the service was excellent. My only complaint is that I have a new service dog that I still have a little self-conscious about taking to certain places because of people’s reactions. He wears a vest that clearly states he is a service dog. We notified the individual at the hostess stand to ensure he knew and we had reserved a spot on the covered patio so we are outside and not in the main dining room and he stated there was no issue. I try make sure there is as little inconvenience as possible. However, once the hostess walked away there was an older lady who worked there who walked over and said they don’t allow dogs, even though she could clearly see his vest that stated he was a service dog. This made me a little uncomfortable but I stated he was a service dog. She did not give us any further trouble but I don’t understand why she had to make the comment in the first place when she clearly saw he was a service dog. If she debated whether or not he was an “actual” service dog she could have asked the questions she is allowed to. Would have definitely come back, but that comment left a sour taste.

    A wonderful restaurant with great food and attentive, but not intrusive servers. The interior is cozy and intimate. The patio open and airy.

    If you are ever in Charlottesville, one restaurant you do not want to miss is the Ivy Inn restaurant. It is small but has certainly a great atmosphere and the food is excellent. The menu is quite varied with something that could please anyone’s pallet. We celebrated our anniversary there and they certainly made it special.!!

    The Ivy Inn made my parent's wedding anniversary dinner so incredibly special. The food was perfection and the service was fantastic! The Ivy Inn staff even made them a special menu. My parents loved it so much they wanted to go back the next day but they were booked full. Highly recommend this restaurant!

    Not one to write reviews, but Ivy Inn deserves one. The trout was amazing! Kyle did a perfect job, making sure we had what we needed without interrupting our meal. Takes a special person to do that just right. We ended with the creme brulee, which was heavenly. If you are ever in Charlottesville - this is the place to dine!!!

    Exceeded expectations which were high given multiple previous visits but none for 15 years. Highlights were the chilled pea soup, tuna crudo, crab cake and trout were amazing. Big piece of fish perfectly prepared.
