The Ivy Inn Restaurant
Fabulous ambience and wonderful food. Great space for parents weekend or graduation. Wide variety of seafood and steak. Excellent service.
We have dined here several times and been impressed by their consistently wonderful food and gracious servers. A trip to Charlottesville is not complete without experiencing The Ivy Inn!
Wonderful environment, extensive wine list, great food. There were three of us dining and all loved our entries - Lamb, trout and sirloin. We’ll be back. Thank you!
As always, fantastic.
Incredible food and excellent service! Enjoyed it very much!
The Ivy Inn never fails to delight. We have been here many times and this dinner was no exception. We had bison, and Angus tenderloin and they were wonderful. The suggested glass of wine was perfect with the tenderloin. The only thing that wasn't over-the-top was the patio. It's just meh. Nice and quiet though, and the service was top notch as always. I do love the in-door dining rooms' ambiance and will remember that for next time. Which I hope will be soon.
Incredible food, service was very accommodating to allergies, and extra touches made it an overall wonderful experience for celebrating a special occasion.
It was a wonderful meal in every way!
We've never been disappointed when we dine at the Ivy Inn. We were celebrating our 41st anniversary. Upon arrival ( and we were a bit early) we were seated at a table for two in a quiet dining room upstairs in a beautiful candlelit filled room. We were promptly greated by our waiter with a friendly smile and our menu printed with "Happy 41st Anniversary "@ the top. We selected appetizers and wine. (the shrimp and grits are amazing!) Our entree selections were wonderful. My husband chose the bison and I , the salmon. We split dessert which again wished us a happy 41st anniversary written out in a chocolate sauce. The attention to the smallest details were so appreciate. We'll be back......thank you so much for making our evening so special
I ate the trout. Delicious. A must if you are in the area.
Good and service were great
The service was completely excellent. We were very pleased
Everything about this restaurant was EXQUISITE! We chose it for our 45th anniversary and were overwhelmed with how great the food and services were. One of the best means we every had.
Gave us some extra special touches when we told them it was our anniversary. Friendly atmosphere makes you feel like family. Every single thing we ate was incredibly delicious.
Food is creative and delicious. Drinks and wine on point. Service is first rate. Not to missed.
My husband and I wanted to try somewhere new for our Anniversary and we were very pleased with The Ivy Inn. It’s in an old farm-type house and I appreciate that they kept the house pretty intact. The set up makes for small, cozy dining nooks in the different rooms. Our server was great- attentive but not too impeding. We had the polyface chicken and the bison. Both were excellent. The real standout, though, was the Toffee Sticky Pudding. It was phenomenal. The price was very reasonable considering the high-level of service and quality of the food. We will be back!
Food was excellent but the service was a bit slow. It seemed like our server was stretched a bit to far. That said she was extremely welcoming and technically very good.
Excellent food -- and great service (including knowledgeable server helping me navigate my dairy allergy by offering adjustments to almost every dish -- in a cozy country inn atmosphere. I enjoyed the rack of lamb dish and my daughter loved bison plus a salad and vegetable side dish (so for us a meat-eater's celebration but the menu had many other options)
We had been wanting to go here for a while and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect restaurant for an anniversary dinner. The food was delicious, the lighting intimate, and the service was great. Not noisy at all. We will definitely be back. Delicious pear and ginger tart for dessert! Thanks Ivy Inn. Well done!
Lovely place. Our favorite in Charlottesville!!! My wife and I have become regulars for their cozy environment and the extraordinary cuisine. We are over the moon with this place!
I can't recommend The Ivy Inn enough. The meal and the experience are always and consistently superb. The entire crew (hostess, wait staff and kitchen team) are phenomenal and experts in their craft.
Visiting from Kansas. Read reviews online and the restaurant lived up to what I had researched. Good food and service. Wife is Vegan and she found it to be very accommodating. I am a meat guy and had the Bison. Excellent. If we lived closer or are ever in the area again, we will definitely dine here again.
Excellent as always. An very pleasurable experience is always offered by the entire staff. Thank you !
The Ivy Inn is a charming restaurant. We ate there for our 45th anniversary. They have a varied menu which can certainly satisfy everyone. I would give my server 10 stars if it was available. She was polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients .
It was nice to find a restaurant in Charlottesville that cuts it teeth NOT ON BURGERS AND PIZZA. The plates were original, well-prepared and the ambiance was relaxing.
Some of the pricing could be relaxed but if you haven't been here, GO! And write your own review.
Can't find a single thing to complain about, except perhaps that I had no room remaining for dessert!
Food was fresh, organic, local and delicious. Sophisticated but simple. The service impeccable, and the patio dining room perfect for our party of 4 plus one (dog)! He was so warmly received and welcomed.
My husband would recommend only a more diverse wine list, since he likes French and Argentinian lines, and the restaurant only offered local or California...Small quibble to me, but I don't drink wine...
All said, bravo!
Best restaurant in Charlottesville. Food is always superb, and Inn is charming. Chicken and Shrimp gumbo was tasty while duck confit was excellent. Crab cake was huge and meaty.
The service was incredible. A bit disappointed past items were not on the menu. Although I understand the menu changes and that is expected. I wasn't thrilled with the table near the door but did not ask to be relocated. Overall, a great dinner.
Fabulous restaurant and the food was excellent. Would definitely go there again.
Great local sourced food. Excellent staff. Fine dining in Cville
The restaurant staff was professional and courteous. Our menu (and dessert later on) had a special message indicating our special event. We had a beautiful evening and appreciate the effort the Ivy Inn put forth on our behalf
Excellent Cuisine & Service!!
My husband and I were in Charlottesville for a football weekend and were looking for a place to eat with good food, and an interesting setting, that was not super expensive. The Ivy Hill Restuarant fit the bill perfectly! I had She Crab Soup and fork tender Blueberry marinated baked quail and my husband had gumbo and beef tenderloin filet done to a perfect medium rare. Each was accompanied with seasonal vegetables fixed in a most interesting way. The restuarant itself is located in an historic frame house that at one time operated as an actual inn. The rooms in the house serve as small dining rooms with 5 to 6 tables for 4. The candles and low watt incandescent bulbs set an intimate mood. Our waiter, Simon was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient.
There is a wine list with enough choices to appeal to most tastes. The wines we had we were so good we called back the next day to make sure we had the name right so we could purchase a bottle to take home.
The menu changes weekly, but always includes beef, lamb, poultry, pasta, trout and vegetarian choices. There are also several appetizers and several salads.
After ordering we were served 2 different kinds of bread, and creamed butter. In addition we were also served toast points with delicious homemade pimento cheese.
I would not recommend this restaurant for young children as there is no child's menu and not the place for bored youngsters.
There is no real dress code, but business casual is appropriate. This restaurant is a good place to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. Reservations are recommended.
Crab cake was the best I ever had. She crab soup was outstanding, The pudding/toffee/ice cream was a perfect ending.
Anniversary dinner, everyone made the day feel as special as it was. Definitely would do dinner here again
This has been and still is our go to restaurant. They get everything right every time!
Best tomato pie I have ever tasted!!!
Great food, service and ambience.
We enjoyed talking with Jess and she took a few pictures of us as we were celebrating a late anniversary. We have a picture from 1981 where is where at a wedding reception and are now celebrating 37 years of marriage. We had Charlie as our server, and understand he was new, but he did an amazing job and would enjoy having him again. The food was delicious. We had the ham biscuits, fried green tomato and baby arugula salad, grilled certified angus beef tenderloin, and Maryland style jumbo lump crabcake. The only suggestion we have is we each had the pear dessert with vanilla ice cream and it was good but very sweet. Either serve half of the amount and reduce cost, serve the pears and ice cream only, or keep like it is with less crumble on top of pears, it was just too much and too sweet. We are diabetics so maybe even have a dessert for diabetics. We definitely will be back. Thanks for an amazing and delicious dinner. Lee and Tammie Belew
Perfect dining experience! Our server, Lauren, was excellent, as was the food. The lemon meringue ice box cake was truly exceptional. It's no surprise the restaurant has been around for 25 years.
