The Island House Restaurant
This was by far the best restaurant experience I’ve attended in 20 years! The restaurant was beautiful to walk up to, very well kept, the music when you walk In is perfect for a quiet dinner with friends and family or a romantic date. The server... AMAZING!! She was prompt, friendly, dressed professionaly and anticipated all of my needs right down to extra napkins! I feel like I have to beg most places for extra anything. The bar service was prompt, the server was very knowledgeable of all of the specials (and there were several) and any questions we had about the menu. She kept the dirty dishes off the table as quickly as we were done with them, and timed our appetizers and meal perfectly. The food... the food was cooked perfectly! The chef was on his game the night we were there. The shrimp was not over cooked and the scallops were great (that’s coming from someone that doesn’t like scallops!) I also have to touch on price. The prices are reasonable for perfectly cooked seafood. We had fried pickles, 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp, two salads, a glass of wine, three Coronas, Seafood island house with collard greens, roasted red potatoes, Serloin steak and red potatoes. Then!! Then we had the creme brûlée. Our bill barely broke $100. Please go enjoy the food and the view! You won’t regret it!
Great place great seafood! We drove 2 hours to get there because we had heard such great reviews! They weren’t kidding! This place is awesome! We will be back!
First visit. Valentine's Day specials gave my husband and I delicious food choices. Service was very good. Will definitely eat here again.
We love everything about the Island House! The food, the staff & the location are all amazing 💕
Excellent all the way around !!! My first experince there, my wife has eaten there many times !!
Enjoyed the meal and, Briane, our server was a delight.
This was amazing. Best flounder and crab cakes I’ve ever had. Best place on the shore. Do not miss it! Service is delightful too.
Just ok . Not worth a long drive to get there . Flounder was broiled , but dry . Salad was 99% lettuce , two pieces of cucumber and two cherry tomatoes. Green beans were good .
Spectacular setting in a small town in Accomac County, Virginia. Oysters and crabs should be the reason to venture off of US-13 to visit.
The dining area was extremely dark. It made it difficult to read menus or see our food. The food came out hot and fast. The steak was cooked appropriately too. We checked the dress code before we went and they said they accepted and welcomed all. We were pleasantly surprised that some locals came in casual work wear and others were dressed for date night.
We are visiting but we would return if we were locals.
On the way to OBX. Great bisque.
We made reservations, we were seated immediately because it wasn't that crowded. Then 20 minutes went by and no waitress came to even take our drink orders. It wasn't until my sister informed the hostess that we had been waiting nearly 20 minutes that someone came. She didn't let us know of the specials, which you expect from a high-class restaurant. The food was ok, very pricey for a lunch menu. We were disappointed with this experience.
What seafood restaurant do you know that has no cole slaw???? Food was just ok. Crab cakes had way too much filler. Overall very disappointing.
My partner and I stopped here on our way home from the North Carolina beaches. I was worried about being under dressed because we were in travel clothes, but it was very casual. The fried oysters were the best I’ve had, and the crab cake was very meaty. My partner didn’t care for the clam fritters, but they had unbeatable prices for seafood so we weren’t upset about it. We wished we weren’t just passing through, so we could stay for a drink on the deck. Overall, it was a cute location with good service, views, and cheap prices.
Our family visited the Island House on vacation and were very pleased with what we found. Beautiful restaurant, great service and the food was delicious. We especially loved the sweet potatoes biscuits.
It's always nice when the owner greets his customers. The food was exceptional.
Greatly enjoyed our dinner here while we were in the area. Sat outside on a beautiful night and enjoyed good food and service. We would go back if in the area again!
Very lovely restaurant with marina view. Deck available for outside dining. Service extremely good as is the food!
Ordered shrimp scampi special and since I don't eat red meat thought I was safe. There was bacon in the scampi sauce and it over-powered the shrimp. Next time will stick with the crab dishes.
The staff are always friendly and professional. Food is fresh and the view is unbeatable
Our server was great. We asked for no old Bay on the shrimp scampi. It had none but it did have a spicy salty blend on dish that was unnecessary. Otherwise portions we're good. Crab dip needed more crab tasted like mayonnaise. Very enjoyable meal and our server was great.
We were looking for seafood for 2 and drinks on our 25th wedding anniversary, with a view of the water, for less than $100 including the tip. All criteria were met. I had the Fisherman’s special and my wife had the Island Seafood combo. If I went again, I would get the crab cakes again. Reserve sooner to get better views of the water. Our view was OK but not the best view. There was a wall partially blocking our view. We are thankful and pleased nonetheless!
I was a little disappointed with the house salad. It was supposed to be topped with seasonal vegetables but was mostly greens with 3 slices of cucumber and a few cherry tomatoes. Everyone else had a great meal
Excellent variety of seafood from which to choose.
Service was exceptional!
Food was good, service was friendly and attentive. A pleasant dining experience on The Eastern Shore. The team that currently operates The Island House has done a very good job in improving the quality of the food ,service, and overall operation of this great local treasure . Might not be quite perfect on each visit, but we have never been seriously disappointed .
Keep up the good work.
The food and service were incredible. The view was beyond amazing. Well worth the money spent.
The only negative was the noise. I can't complain, as a large, crowded restaurant in a coastal town, during summertime for Friday dinner is GOING to have some volume.
Highly recommended- especially the local raw oysters. In my opinion, they have topped Blue Points as the best oysters ever.
We love this place. Food is amazing! Laid back rustic charm to go along.
It was our first visit and it was very good, service was also excellent. Look forward to going again.
We have eaten at the Island House many times over the past 20 plus years!! We always make it a point to eat here when we are on Virginia’s Eastern Shore!! My husband had the fried scallops, and he said several times that they were the best he had eaten in years!! My fried oysters were delicious too.
Our server Richard was very polite and attentive, and the manager came over to chat with us too!! Overall a perfect dining experience!!
Food was great and the service was excellent, great view of water and boats coming in from a day fishing. Quiet at the time we were there, but it was early evening. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Just great.
Customer service and food was amazing!
Fantastic food by the water in this quiet seaside town.
Great food assortment, staff as always friendly and helpful.
Island House is special as it blends a local and casual restaurant with fantastic food that is consistently full of taste. The specials are fine dining and change enough that if you don't dine frequently you will not get to try them all. Never rushed and a very friendly wait staff that knows what the Chef has prepared for the day. My favorite Eastern Shore dining destination.
Local seafood, great kitchen (down to the pan sautéed brussel sprouts)
Also good steak and chicken dishes
Eat outside and enjoy the view of the water
Our waitress Briona was great
Local craft beers on tap
We had a wonderful time. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the view was spectacular.
Service and food were both very good. We eat there often and the view is beautiful
In spite of it being a very busy night (proms & graduations) the staff was moving like clockwork, but a lot friendlier. Fast, smooth and helpful! GREAT FRESH seafood; desserts that were inhaled by the teenagers in the party. Lovely views of the Outer Islands. Ambiance perfect for the yaght crowd - attached to a marina.
Food and atmosphere was fantastic. Our server was beyond superb. We had two at the table with different dietary needs. The server made sure that the food was prepared to meet our needs. I would highly recommend Island House.
A trip up the Delmarva peninsula requires a lunch or dinner stop at the Island House in Wachapreague. THE BEST broiled crab cake ever, no filler just lump crab seasoned right. Chef's special rib eye was huge, tender and juicy. Sides are fresh and imaginative.Flounder fresh caught and fried was tasty. Local farmed oysters were a bit bland, no briny flavor, and brittle shells made eating difficult due to small shards in the meat. Off season staff had trouble keeping up with a spring crowd, but we're friendly despite the pressure.
