We wanted to take our boy for his birthday as he loves airplanes. We saw the review of the restaurant in Emeril's Florida review and looked great. We arrived and it took them a while to seat us, which is fine even though was not busy. We sat outside and our boy loved watching the airplanes. The chicken tenders for kids were great , food overall good. Salads very basic I have to say a bit dissapointing, but the fish tacos were good. Overall it was okey but I have to give the restaurant low rating as the service was terrible, slow and the waitress was not very kind. Sorry I really wanted to love it and we did for watching the airplanes, but food was just okey and service Was dissapointing.
Excellent food..this was our second time going to this venue.Great music, food, and service.
Fun place for watching the small plane flight activity in this small airport, with a view of the water also. But it's essentially a diner, and quite noisy. It was OK for a bit of fun, and perhaps a good place to go with children, but we were disappointed with the food. I had a Brie quesadilla and the tortilla had herbs in it which wasn't as advertised and I didn't like. My husband wasn't crazy about his sandwich either but I liked it. It was OK as a diner.
Best part was watching the planes take off. When we arrived for dinner there was a live music duet playing. It was too loud to sit inside so eventually we moved outside and it was much better. Call ahead to reserve an outside table. The planes taking off/landing is the draw for this place. The food was good not great. Very casual. Kids liked it.
We came here after going to the Dali museum, you can just walk across the street. The kids had the best time watching the planes. Staff went out of their way to get us a table outside. The planes can be loud and also there are some fumes, but it was worth that for a first hand look at a small airport operating.
Every time we visit St. Petersburg, we make a stop at The Hangar. This is a casual place in which you can eat casual food in a nice setting. The highlight is obviously to watch small planes depart and land, but the food is great as well! Never had bad service either!! Always a must stop for our family!
Our table was right near the kitchen door which was a bad location. We were also near the singer which was a little loud. It took quite a while for a server to come to our table initially, but the service after that was fine.
Two of us enjoyed our meals, however, the fish tacos that came out looked like they had been sitting for awhile- not very hot and the sauce had congealed.
Food was good and prices were reasonable. Normally the view would have been of the airport and the bay but they were staging for the race. The grand stands obstructed the view.
Had reservation at 5:45. Arrived on time. told they didn't take reservations on Mahaffey night, web site was wrong, going to be fixed some day. Waited 25 minutes for table, misses 7:00 mahaffey event. Waitress and food good.
A fun evening evening listening to our friends Liz Pennock and Dr Blues. Our meal was wonderful and Ryan our waiter was exceptional!!!!!!!! Sat outside and shot some great pics. Went inside for music and food. We loved it and loved all the staff we met.

Enjoyed the meal and the ambience. Very relaxing and fun to have aview of the activity outside on the airfield. Server was very helpful and cooperative. Food was good to eat and good value for the monry. would definitely come back again.
Relaxed dining and good food. Reasonably priced and oriented toward families.
Everything about the Hangar was exceptional! I have eaten there for breakfast many times and some lunches, but never for dinner. It was the best meal out I have had in St. Pete, and I have been to many of the downtown restaurants. The Chef beats any other Chef in any other of our local restaurants.
We always enjoy the Hangar! Have been here several times. We like sitting on the outside balcony and watching the air traffic.
A little loud for outdoor seating but very casual and great food
Good time was had by all!
It would have been better had they not questioned how our reservation was made and advising they were doing away with open table.
I assume that they did away with open table since we didn't get our points.
New venue for business luncheon! The team came back raving about every aspect...fantastic!!
Jazz on Monday nights. Don't miss this! Young people, showing off their developing skills, with the more experienced players, made for a real treat.
Also works well for business or other group meetings when large enough for the private dining room. A little noisy, if not in the private dining room, but manageable.
WE always enjoy the good food and friendly service at the Hangar.
Great menu. Great food. Fun atmosphere watching planes and helicopters take off and land.
Good food, great service! Located in very attractive downtown St. Petersburg, FL.
Besides the unisex restrooms, everything eles was superb!!!
We enjoyed our sandwiches, the view of the runway and the friendly servers. We'll be back!
Restaurant was great dispite not having our opentable reservation
I made an Open Table reservation for 5:45 PM, arrived on time and was seated promptly. That is the only good part of the experience. When asked about an item I had seen on their website that wasn't on the menu, the waiter's response was someone must have made a mistake on their website. I made these reservations because I was attending a concert at the nearby Mahaffery Theater which started at 7:30 PM. We ordered, then waited, and waited. Finally at 6:55 PM, an hour an 10 minutes after sitting down, I gave up and told the hostess we were leaving because we hadn't been served. They might have good food, if you can ever get it.
We have eaten lunch at The Hangar several times but this was our first dinner (The Hangar is very convenient to the Mahaffey Theater, if one has an event there; it's within walking distance). As usual, we found our meal, as well as the atmosphere, to be very congenial (watching the small planes land and take off is a different experience). I had the salmon with pesto entree and my husband ordered the chicken with waffles. Both were tasty. Service is informal and timely. Moreover, the menu prices are reasonable; one does not have to feel a bit of guilt about the cost of the meal.
It was super convenient to the Mahaffey Theater where we were attending a performance after dinner. It was easy to find and had good parking. It was much more casual that we were expecting. The view of the runway was neat, but the overall ambiance was not the intimate date scene we were looking for. It's more of a sports bar spill over to a open air diner.
We really enjoyed our dinner at The Hangar Restaurant. My friend raved about how good the salmon was. I had a BLT which was also good. We sat outside on the covered balcony and watched the small planes take off and land, a helicopter take off, and sailboats on the bay in the background. It was very relaxing. Even though it was a warm evening, a steady breeze kept it comfortable. While the planes were loud during takeoff and landing, the rest of the time it was quiet.
Decor is unique, live music volume varies making private conversation questionable, menu has broad average choices , strong cocktails but bartender at time has limited knowledge on drinks. Overall better choice for lunch than dinner.
Our lady server was very good and help make the visit enjoyable.
Great place, Great Customer service. I really appreciate the accomdendations made for me to meet with my family to discuss my wedding day.
I had never been there before so I wasn't really sure what I was in for, but the food was surprisingly quite good.
Family dinner complete with helicopter ride and surprise proposal. Accomodated us like royalty!
Being able to look out to the airstrip and view the private airplanes take off and land, it was a nice addition to a wonderful meal and excellent service.
Seeing the planes & helicopters land
Customer service was amazing! Food was just okay.. If you're in to planes then this is the place for you.
Great foodand servicehaveneverbeencameback with outof town family2 timesin3 days
On my most recent visit the food was wonderful, but service from Kate was seriously lacking.
I eat at the Hangar at least once a month and all the other servers day and evening have been great. All the meals have been delicious, some are on the small side. The chicken and waffles is the best. The cheeseburgers are superb and on sale on Wednesdays! I love the fondue appetizer plate to start.
Amazing service, great food, and a wonderful view! Fun experience for the whole family!
I never had a salad after dinner.
