Excellent service, delicious food – simple with big bold flavours. The jerk lobster was a highlight but all dishes were great
It was just okay.
The food was outstanding and the service was perfect! We will be back for sure ! Don’t forget to try the dessert it’s worth the extra calories !
We had a great experience, everyone who worked there was all about the service. The head chef came out to check on us, but also on everyone in the room. It was an experience I highly recomend
Hairy Lobster was great. Wonderful cocktails, food was great and top notch service. All of the staff was very helpful and courteous. Each dish we had has great flavor and was well prepared.
The food was exceptional. Our server was great and helped us decide on how much to order. We never felt rushed and had a wonderful evening.
The restaurant is great, we would go again. We weren't sure why we were annexed to the top floor (at one point the only people up there), but outside of that it was great
Amazing flavors with unique local fresh ingredients. We will be back!
Delicious dining month menu from top to bottom. Innovative cocktails and excellent service. Yes the name is a bit off putting for some but the meal is worth it
Amazing place with a very interesting menu. Definitely worth the visit if you're a foodie and are looking for a change from the usual fair
We love this restaurant. Great food and service. Inventive and delicious menu items. Ideal for a date or for a large group that wants to share food items.
Portland dining month menu brought us in. Lobster with the jalapeño biscuit was delicious.
The food is designed to share, I like that. Its fun to order 9 dishes and share them between 4 people. Favorites included the broccoli and the lobster with kale.
Nice ambiance and great service.
Great dinner, outstanding service. Would definitely recommend to others
We’ve gone to the hairy lobster a couple of times now, most recently for their Harry Potter themed dinner. Without question, this is one of the best restaurants in Portland. What I can’t figure out is why we can always get a reservation here. In fact, the ease with which I initially secured a reservation around the Christmas Holiday last year made me question whether it would be any good. Boy was it!
So shhh... don’t tell anybody about this Hidden gem.
The Hogwarts at THL experience exceeded expectations on every level. They truly transformed a Wednesday into a magical escape from reality. Every detail was carefully crafted to whisk you away from a typical Wednesday night into something truly spectacular. The food was incredible. The ambiance was inspired. They took the time and effort to make this a stand out event. We feel so thankful that we got to be a part of it and hope they will do it again soon.
This is the second time we've dined at the Hairy Lobster. This time we went for their Hogwarts Great Feast special event. They transformed the restaurant into Hogwarts' Great Hall. There were many courses all coming very quickly, and everything was presented beautifully, family style, and with a magical flourish. The food was phenomenal and the staff were all very into the theme. It's probably the closest I will get to dining at Hogwarts. The high price of ticket per person was definitely worth it though. I wish I was able to try more of the specialty cocktails, but the 5 o'clock to Hogsmeade was yummy. We were ushered "home" via Platform 9 3/4 and a trip to Honeydukes to take a treat home (included in our dinner price). I highly recommend the spare ribs and the fried chicken, which I'm sure appear on the regular menu.
I have been to dinner at the Hairy Lobster many times.
This event would be better with not sharing food plates with nine other guests.
The lobster feast is the best ! Let’s do more of those.
The Harry Potter dinner was fantastic. It was truly a Feast, with more food than our table could eat. The drinks were so well balanced, though the Earl Grey cocktail was my favorite. The decorations and costumes were spot on and I was transported. So many small touches made it more fun, like Honeydukes or Filch with his Mrs Norris. And then the surprise treat at the end, which had me leaving with a smile on my face. I can’t wait till they do this special dinner again!
We went for a theme night - Harry Potter. The attention to detail in the decor and costumes was astounding. The number of ongoing surprises was quite fun. There was way more food than people could finish and the diversity was well planned. Food was high quality, fresh and delicious. The number of dishes presented for the money was an incredible value. I really hope they keep doing these as I’d love to do more themes.
The food was awful, one of the worst meals I have ever had in Portland. Was disappointed as the atmosphere for the Harry Potter dinner was so amazing! The Halibut was super fishy, the meat was squishy and the desserts were rock hard.
This was an incredible evening with fabulous service and food and so much fun with the Harry Potter theme. Thank you!
If they only served the braised cabbage that alone would make this a required stop. Kudos to the crew there: you know that food is a shared experience, opportunity to bond, and this is reflected the in quality of the cuisine.
10 out of 10; my wife and I will be back again.
My husband and I had a date here and really enjoyed the shared plate experience. The attention to detail in the establishment was impressive. The service was excellent. I would recommend the Hairy Lobster to anyone who is looking for a great dining experience.
One member of our party had food issues due to medications. You could not have been more helpful and conscientious in dealing with this matter. We were very impressed and very much appreciated. Thanks so much.
We’re seating on the second floor under looking the kitchen which beautiful. The food and drinks were delicious. Waiter was super helpful double checking and making recommendations based on my food allergy. Note the food is serving and portioned family style.
One of the most memorable restaurant experiences in the Rose City! Great atmosphere & great food. We’ll be back and also highly recommend to our family & friends :)
Ever single thing we ate was absolutely amazing!
Service was on point too..!
Nice. Will go back
Disappointed that neither OpenTable asked when I made the reservation nor the restaurant host when he seated us if we'd like to be seated downstairs where there's a restroom. We didn't even know that there's an upstairs and that there's no bathroom up there. My partner has a disability, which we mentioned to the host as he was taking us up the stairs. My partner had to go up and down the stairs a few times during dinner and it would have been nice and the right thing to do to ask that question and not assume that everyone is able to sit upstairs as easily. After dinner, we said something to the host who basically showed no interest in our situation and when we asked to speak to a manager he said there isn't one at the restaurant currently, which we later found out wasn't true. While the food was good, their inability and unwillingness to accommodate people with disabilities left a bad taste in our mouth so we cannot recommend them.
Loved it. Food was so flavorful. We shared the rib-eye and the pork belly dishes. Also, best fries in the world. The horsy aioli was delicious.
Sat at the counter and loved the show from the friendly bartenders. True craftsman. They overheard us talking about celebrating our upcoming anniversary and sent us a nice dessert surprise. So kind.
Would like to see more beer options and not a fan of IPAs.
Thanks to everyone for a special experience. They handled Valentines Dinner very well.
Can’t wait to return.
This is not a sea food restaurant. The food was very good and the menu was simple and flavorful. The wine list was incredibly long (with a small font size of about a 5),complicated and overpriced (I would guess 5 times the retail). The wine list was so complicated that I honestly think there should be a sommelier on staff. That would help in choosing the wine and I could justify the overpriced wine list. The wait staff was not trained for serving the wine. When we received our wine it was not of proper temperature. A certified Somm would not have allowed that. If you are going for the food only, then yes I recommend. If you are going for a wine/food experience there are many other restaurants in Portland.
It was a great place to enjoy Valentines Day!
Excellent dining experience. The steelhead poké was absolutely delicious!
We really enjoy this restaurant. The food is unique combinations of interesting flavors served on old china. Sharing small plates is fun. Service is fabulous. The servers provide realistic estimates of what is reasonable and make great drink recommendations. I can't recommend this enough.
Went here for my birthday dinner and really loved every dish we had. The mushroom bisque and hanger steak were my favorites. Also had a delicious cocktail and the wine list was great. Thanks again for a lovely evening!
The food and service were both great. Can't wait to go back.
Loved this restaurant! The diverse menu offered wonderful choices for all of us including our vegan daughter. Gorgeous, comfortable space. Be sure to save room for dessert! So good!!!
Every time we come here, everyone at the table is gushing about every mouthful. It’s fresh. Varied menu. Amazing taste combinations. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
Food quality is exceptional, as usual. I have been here previously; typically the service is also outstanding, but this time around it was 'unremarkable' -- perhaps even mediocre. Hopefully this was just a 'one-off' and next time expecting the same exceptional service to pair with the excellence of the food.
