The Grove Ratings and Reviews
I have mixed feelings about reviewing The Grove because it is so fantastic. If more people understood how truly special the kitchen is, it would be even more crowded, perhaps so crowded as to become an almost impossible opition for spontaneous dining. I seldom can project my schedule for days in advance. so I may be cheatng myself out of great meals by increasing the competition for tables So on 2nd thought, don't go to the Grove. Go some place cheaper.
Our dining experience from beginning to end was perfect. We started with the octopus, scallops, and roasted beet salad; they were all lovely, but the octopus was the star.
For dinner we had the local catch and the short ribs; both were perfectly seasoned and prepared.
The experience was wonderful!
I love going to The Grove for both business meetings and gatherings with family and friends. I don't mind making the drive from Miami for the relaxing ambiance and the phenomenal food and wine selections. Now that they have a late night bar on the side, their craft cocktail offerings are top notch as well. Their bartender was a mixologist at a handful of well known bars/restaurants in Miami and has now brought his talents to Delray Beach. I would highly recommend this place for any occasion, but make sure to make a reservation as it is an intimate space and it fills up quickly. It's now also a great late night spot as well.
Used to be one of our favorites in Delay but unfortunately no more. We typically visited on special occasions as it is a bit pricey but the food and service justified the price premium over other fine dining in Delray Beach. This visit was just okay and therefore not worth the added cost. With the additional seating capacity and the kitchen remaining the same size it took almost 2 hours for our meal. We mentioned that we felt the food was coming out rather slowly and the manager responded with a flippant "sorry but they were busy". We asked to speak with the manager at the end of our meal but were ignored so we left a written message on the bill as I think the management needs to know why we won't be going back. Good news is that there is plenty of other options in this great little foodie hamlet of ours.
A true gem here in Delray. Incredible balance and taste to the food. This kitchen clearly knows what it is doing. The whole evening ran like a well oiled machine even though they we extremely busy. At no point did we feel rushed and just enjoyed the evening immensely. It is pricey but well worth every cent. Thank you for a wonderful time and be assured we will be back.
Outstanding dining experience at The Grove, unique jewel restaurant nested in the heart of the Pineapple Grove District. Most romantic and intimate restaurant in Delray Beach, the food prepared by talented Chef, Michael Haycook, will blow you away not only by its delicious taste but also by its presentation, freshness and creativity. Be prepared for an amazing dining experience that will just make you want to come back for more!
Just like other reviewers, food is outstanding. Quality and care with all the items we chose off the small menu. Intimate space with competent service. Even after a slow start due to limited dining room personnel, the kitchen was able to keep pace perfectly
My girlfriend and I decided to check this place out after reading through a few reviews online. Surprisingly, I had passed by The Grove many, many times before, but never noticed it. The restaurant is located off the beaten path off Atlantic Ave next to Max's Harvest.
Initially I wanted to make a reservation at 7:30 pm, but everything was booked, so I settled for 8:15 pm. When we walked in however, the restaurant was empty, so I was left wondering why I couldn't make an earlier reservation. We walked over to the bar and walked into a very lively scene. I had an Old Fashioned (on their cocktail list), which was fantastic!
After drinks we headed to our table. It was slow, but service was subpar. No one came to greet us for a few minutes and it took a while for us to get started. At one point, a couple walked in and stood at the entrance awkwardly staring at us as we ate. I looked back into the kitchen and saw the majority of the staff on their phones in the kitchen. Eventually, I motioned to the couple to walk back to the kitchen to get their attention. Not a good look...
The best part about The Grove is their food. Everything is reasonably priced and delicious! The beet salad with avocado puree was delectable and chicken dish was phenomenal. We had a nice Bordeaux from St. Julien for $80 which was a steal for the quality and finished our dinner with the Nutella donuts.
Overall, the food was INCREDIBLE. I was a little disappointed in the service and surprised they didn't offer a champagne by the glass. Will go back - just hope the service is a tad better next time!
