Blue Crab Mac & Cheese
jumbo lump crab, cresti di gallo pasta parmigiano, breadcrumbs
Disappointing experience pre concert. Service was very slow, 30 min to get drinks. Food was undercooked and over salted. Not tasty. No time to correct either since everything took so long and we had a show to get too. Restaurant is beautiful in park, to bad experience didn’t match
Food was great. Service was slow. Food came out even before drinks were delivered. (Waters as well) waited for someone to acknowledge we needed a steak knife. Overall good food, just unorganized slow service.
Terrible experience. We had a reservation and were sat immediately. It took a while for the waiter to come greet us. Once he took our appetizer and drink order he didn't come back for a while. He stopped once and said the bartender was still working on our drinks. We got our appetizer before our drinks! Not good. We were ready to place our order. We knew we wanted the short ribs with grits before we got there. The waiter informed us that they didn't have anymore. What???? We went at 6pm. How do you not have the most popular thing on your menu at 6pm? I could see if it was 8pm...maybe. We ordered something else and it took forever to get the meal. Overall very poor experience. I know this is not the norm, but there are too many good restaurants in Houston to go back and possibly have the same experience.
We love eating at The Grove. One of our favorite downtown Houston restaurants by far!!
Great food. Located within walking distance of the Toyota Center. Great start to a night.
Everything was wonderful, except the service. We arrived
1 1/2 hours before a concert at Toyota center. We told them of our concert plans when we made the reservations, and again when we arrived. The service was extremely slow, and it was not our waiter’s fault. He was trying his best! The restaurant had overbooked and was understaffed. We were late to the concert. We will definitely be back…just not before a concert!!
Fabulous food and service. The bar seemed to be slammed, so it took a long time to get a glass of wine and a glass of prosecco.
Wait staff was spread very thin. Food was great and service was good except our server was run ragged.
My birthday dinner and 1st dining experience at The Grove was phenomenal. The venue, the views, the food, the service, my server Jazmin…everything was amazing. I will be back again!
Food was ok. Service was fair. I have been before and the food was better. We sat outside which was great because it was beautiful night. Drinks were good they had a seasonal drink my wife liked. My daughter barely at her burger, she said she would give the restaurant a 7/10. Its in a great location, maybe it was an off night.
Fantastic date spot for some champagne and a nice 3 course meal.
the location is superb, however parking is quite expensive and there was no valet parking resulting in chaos at the restaurant entrance- traffic was severely obstructed with free for all self parking . the cost of menu items was high as expected. What was not expected was the quality of the food we were served. I was unable to cut my steak with the knife provided- it was thin, tough and had a lot if gristle; it was however cooked to medium rare as requested. The server had no idea what horseradish was and said they did not have it. I asked them to check with the kitchen and it turns out they did. It appear that like everyone else the facility is struggling to find competent, quality servers. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Thursday evening but service was slow (waited over 30 minutes for a glass of wine). A big disappointment for one of my first forays out after 18 months of Covid isolation.
Great location, awesome ambience, fantastic adult drinks, Jamie took great care of us.
The beet hummus was SOOOO good!
Great ambiance and service. Food was delicious as well. Date night, calm and dark room, everything was perfect. Our server, Amy was great as well. Highly recommend.
Great dinner and Daniel was excellent
We enjoyed our dinner, mainly because it was perfect evening to have dinner on the outdoor deck of the restaurant, watching the pretty light show in Discovery Green.
The food was OK, but not up to what we have had in the past, and what we would expect from a del Grande restaurant. A hamburger was ordered medium rare, but served overcooked. And an order of jumbo lump crab mac and cheese had little or no lump crab, and was just gooey and bland.
Lovely opportunity to reconnect with dear friends unseen since the Covid kickoff. Wonderful meal, ambiance and intimacy.
Cool spot in the middle of Houston. Very nice layout, service and food. They make you feel very welcome and comfortable.
Daniel is amazing - a fantastic representation of the restaurant. The menu is fantastic - the cocktails are the best I’ve had in Houston.
Good food. Good location. Some of the worst service in Houston ruined the experience.
The Grove was excellent. They have an awesome patio overlooking greenspace. The menu was unique and had a lot of options to choose from. I highly recommend!
Great food, nice light in the restaurant. And they asked if we were going to the game and paced our meal accordingly!
Daniel was excellent and attentive Food he recommended was wonderful
Very nice! Sat in the bar area. You must try the Mac and cheese!
Staff was very nice and food was wonderful
Good food. Excellent service. Convenient location.
I came here for my birthday from Arkansas and everything was amazing! We were stuck in traffic and I called the restaurant and they moved my reserve back! I would definitely recommend!!
We really enjoyed ourselves. Began with a bottle of bubbles. Ahi tuna appetizer was amazing! Our table enjoyed burgers, salmon, chicken w pasta. All were really tasty and enjoyable!
The food was outstanding. We will
Definitely be going back.
Simone was our amazing server. She was very pleasant and clearly enjoys her job and life in general. The Blue Crab Corn Fritters were delicious. The homemade bread and butter is a must have. We enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice with our mimosas. Great service, great food and great atmosphere.
Excellent food, attentive service, a rare occasion to enjoy patroon dinner . Drinks were uniques as well.
Service was great, drinks were yummy, food was fabulous!
Service too to long. Drinks and Oyster were not that great and they ran out of the Eastern oysters
The menu changed and was not very good and way too pricey
Last minute dinner great time as always no complaints
The team at The Grove in Houston provided a great experience for us on Thursday, September 10, 2021. Chris provided prompt and cordial service (as do all of the servers who stopped by to talk).
Take the time to go to the Grove. The new menu is excellent.
First time at the grove and it was a delight! Came in Saturday night with my husband and he truly enjoyed the service and food. Everyone was very polite and attentive. We made it to the last day of Houston’s Restaurant week and got to try the garden salad, the steak with fried potato and asparagus and chocolate cake! Sara was amazing with the menu knowledge. The sangrias are fantastic. Oh and we also got some sides, the grits and grilled cauliflower and the tomato sauce that came with them was tasty! Thanks Sara for the wonderful experience! Almost Forgot, the bread and butter was so good!
I came here for my 30th birthday dinner. It was awesome. The food is very good. The staff was kind and competent. I would def recommend for an occasion or date night. If I come back to Houston, I would def come back. My only cpmplaint, which is extremely minor in comparison to everything else, would be that the valet took a long time to return our vehicle.
The wait staff was full of information and helpful with menu selection. Amounts were just right. I had the pork loin with cheese grits and would absolutely have again. Flavor was delicious and meat was tender and juicy. Hubby had the redfish but substituted the side for mashed potatoes because he was hungry and he fully enjoyed the meal.
We love the grove! Got married here three years ago so always come back on our anniversary. Only complaint was the redfish we ordered. It was extremely over cooked :/ We’ve never had an issue before so I hope it was a fluke. Will be returning for more with fingers crossed. Also, praying they bring back Sunday brunch
