I wanted to visit The Grill on Hollywood one last time before it closes its doors after November 23. It was my go-to place before an evening at the Pantages Theatre, for more than a few birthday celebrations and especially for the New York steak. Now I will have to find a new favorite place.

Made a reservation because we were attending a concert at The Dolby. Our friends received their meals, ours arrived 10 minutes later and my salad was wilted and the steak cold. Overall an over priced meal that was sub par.

We were late due to traffic, but they seated us anyway. Our server was very nice and we enjoyed the dinner before going to the theatre.

This Hollywood version of the famous Grill on the Alley in Bev Hills has the same menu but much more space and many fewer celebs and showbiz operatives -- it's on the fourth floor of the Hollywood & Highland Center, so the clientele tilts towards to tourist trade. Nevertheless, the decor is very "private men's club" -- private-style leather banquettes and a few tables for groups in multiple rooms and the patio. This is a go-to spot for business lunches for me, since the parking is relatively easy and it's roughly half-way between my location (Burbank) and westside communities.

I ordered the Steak salad. For almost $30 I received a lovely bowl of lettuce with 5 thinly sliced pieces of steak on top and 2 onion rings. Another overpriced Hollywood restaurant. The food is good, I don't want to imply it's not. And the service is good as well but there's nothing special or better about this restaurant or its food than anywhere else. It's expensive, more than it's worth, I'd skip this one.

Absolutely love this restaurant! It has never disappointed us. The steaks are fabulous and when you feel like being a little evil the Onion Rings are to die for :) I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's a little pricey so we usual go there when we are celebrating something!

Nope.. I had high hopes, even after reading a lot of reviews. Service was slow.. I let that go, I was in rush. We decided on The Grill for pre Hollywood Bowl Dinner. Server was new... she didn't say, but you could tell, she had to ask the chefs most simple questions.. like was the pan fried scallops, only fried alone in a clean pan? Which should always be the case . She said she had seen them fry some on the grill? The. Said let me go ask. Someone in the group is allergic to other types of fish. I asked if any of the steaks were grass fed.. she said they all were. I said are you sure, it would usually say and I prefer that. So she went to ask, none were.. I don't mind paying money for food, I most certainly have paid a lot more.. with that said.. nothing we ate was worth the price at all. Scallops inconsistent some where good and some where not. Even the house bread, some was good and some was not.. it was like part of it got doused in salt?!... the Cesar salad I had.. looked like it was over dressed, it wasn't.. the lettuce seemed to be washed and not dried.. so it was watered down. The croutons were good. 13.00 for a small Cesar dinner salad, should be perfect.. also the same with 35.00 for 4 or 5 scallops. I also had a special filet medallions .. it was a huge amount.... but it was only two medallions and one was at least twice the size of the other... and sadly the cooking was awful on one and good on the other.. so did they cook a really thick filet (like 8 oz the same time as a half sized 4 oz?) it was something like 54.00. I would much prefer evenly sliced and cooked. Or one smaller grass fed for the price.. or even pay more for Waygu. It was really about a 30.00 very bland piece of filet served in a nice setting. A 35.00 scallop plate worth about 22.00 in a nice setting. A 6.00 salad for 13.00 in a nice setting.. I didn't have any, but someone had their Brussels sprouts and did say that they were amazing.. so there is that. The champagne was perfect.

The best part is convenience for parking for the Hollywood Bowl or Pantages. The food is expensive. The steak tartare had no taste. Cocktails very expensive.

I made reservations on open table for a business group lunch. We were warmly welcomed at the door and our table was ready with no issues. We waited a bit longer than we would have liked for our order to be taken, but once it was taken the food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and everyone was pleased. I had the soup and Cobb salad combo. I got the lobster bisque which was super hot when it came out. It tasted good, but it was mostly broth, not sure where the lobster was. The Cobb salad was okay. I asked for extra dressing on the side, but maybe they tossed it in. There was a lot of dressing. It was made with iceberg lettuce, which is not my favorite, but it was fine. Everyone else liked their food and said it was good. The ambiance was nice, and all of the staff were friendly. I would go back again, but next time I'll try a different dish.

The Grill on Hollywood is a source for a dependable top-notch dinner.
The calamari appetizer is wonderful. I'm not into chili spicey so I didn't use the spicey dipping sauce and the calamari is so good plain...fixed perfectly.
The filet mignon was perfect. The short ribs are divine.
Cheesecake and berries with ice cream were perfect endings to our respective meals.
Great attentive service without hovering.
Once again, a wonderful dining experience.

I'm not sure if the night we visited was a bad night but meals did not seem to make it out of the kitchen.

We were seated promptly as more than half the restaurant was empty. We ordered cocktails and looked over the menu. Soon after ordering our meal the salads came out. Mixed greens with dressing.

The rest of our meal never came. The cocktails never came. After waiting over an hour after being seated we gave up and paid for the salads. A neighboring table had a similar experience.

I remember this place being good in the past. Maybe tonight was an off night.

I was very disappointed with our latest visit. We have a subscription to the Bowl so we frequent this restaurant. On this night, we were seated on the patio and ordered from the Prix Fixe (DineLA) menu. Our drinks arrived right away, but we waited an hour for our entrees, and my brother's steak was so tough he bit his tongue! We had a show to go to so we had to bail without desert (the paid for third course) after an hour and a half. Insult to injury -- the $12 glass of Chardonnay I ordered was no more than a three ounce pour. To their credit, they comped our drinks, but the waitress was clearly overwhelmed. I probably won't be returning. Seemed to us like management was trying to save money by using fewer waitresses on a Monday night and perhaps didn't know the Bowl was sold out and they'd be swamped with diners? Argh.

Overall the food was good. However, restaurant had little to no staff and service was slow. I recommended everyone order their cocktails, appetizers, and main course at the same time because we didn't know how long it would take for our waitress to come back.
