The Grey Plume
Exceptional food, cocktails and wine with great service. We were celebrating a good friend’s birthday and were allowed to take our time and enjoy our dinner.
This is our second time to the Grey Plume. The staff is very friendly and food was great! Looking forward to our next visit in the future.
Food was incredible and atmosphere complimented it! Service exceptional! Highly recommend Grey Plume!!
After 4 years of living in Omaha, we never got a chance to visit The Grey Plume. When we had to move away, we made a point for our last Omaha meal to be here!
We were not disappointed & only sad we didn’t eat here sooner.
Our server Tessa was amazing. She was so patient with us & explained everything.
The flavors were unexplainable. The creativity it takes to put all those flavor profiles together is astounding!
We really enjoyed our special dinner!
The service was the worst of any restaruant in which I have ever dined. It took 1.5 hours for an appetizer and a main course. I have eaten in some of the finest restaruants in the world from New York City, Paris, London, Madrid, etc. and have never had such slow service even in Europe where custom is to have a lot of time to eat.
The restaurant mades an attempt to have a French cusine but falls far short.
The prices are far higher than they should be for the quality of food served.
We’ve eaten here before and thought we’d give it another shot as our first experience was mediocre. Unfortunately this was worse than the first. Food was just okay and the kitchen was slow even though the restaurant was half-full.
If you’re looking for an exceptional meal in Omaha I recommend Boiler Room.
We have been to the Grey Plume on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The only reason I would give it four stars on our most recent visit is that we are now vegetarians and there are not enough vegetarian menu options. Only one of the entrees did not have meat. That being said, the mushroom pasta was incredibly delicious. As always, the service was great, and the drinks were top-notch.
The staff was extremely attentive and kind. They have a fine dining skill level but not stuffy. They were understaffed and it showed. The food, for a season specific restaurant was heavy for the beginning of July. It just felt a bit dated. As yummy as the duck fat fries are maybe they need a new “signature” dish in rotation.
I was surprised to see the restaurant so empty on a Saturday night. We arrived a little early and were seated right away and had a very attentive waitress. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the charcuterie board and trout, but the doughnut was just so so. Our table cloth needed to be ironed, which was surprisingly more or a distraction than I would have thought and both my wife and I talked about it afterwards. All in all a very pleasant experience.
This restaurant's far-ranging, excellent reputation is well deserved. They win a national award annually for being one of the "greenest" restaurants in the country, and they source their ingredients locally as much as possible from carefully selected sources. The menu is composed of unique, interesting, and highly creative dishes that surpass all others in the region.
I had dinner there with friends on a Thursday night, and it was a great experience. The ambience was perfect, and the servers were highly attentive without being in any way intrusive. The drinks and foods all had interesting presentations, and we all enjoyed the unique flavor combinations, which all worked very well. We all agreed that we will come back sometime soon.
This fabulous restaurant is a one-of-a-kind culinary destination, and should be on everyone's short list of great restaurants to visit sooner rather than later.
Loved it, wanted a good spot for a date with my husband away from our three kids, excellent food/wine! Will def return
Very Nice place. Great waitress. Food was good. The wine our waitress recommended was very good!
Grey Plume never disappoints! Eight course tasting menu is too much food, but it is all SO amazing!
Dry nice dining room, out standing service, excellent food and display. Had my taste buds asking for more. Love this place!!
Perfect venue for celebrating our anniversary.
Superb Food, all locally obtained. Very good service, really helpful with interpretation and selections on menu. Excellent dining experience.
Very focused on local sourcing and sustainable practices. Menu offerings were unique, interesting and uniformly delicious.
My wife and I went for a birthday. We were greeted with a birthday card signed by the chef and staff. Every aspect of the dinner was well thought out to impress guests. Each course was presented with care and each was fantastic. The food was amazing and we left feeling satisfied. What more can you say! This is an moderately expensive restaurant but offers great value. Would highly recommend!
Best food in Omaha! Chef Clayton and staff continue to deliver!
Presentation was everything. The food was beautiful and oh so delicious. The models were out of bounds! Delightful!
The fresh seasonal menu was very inviting. My group enjoyed the ambiance, service, and the presentation of each course. Although the restaurant was busy, it was comfortable to have a conversation and enjoy the delightful music in the background. I highly recommend The Grey Plume happy hour at the bar, or an eventful culinary experience in the dining room.
We went as a belated birthday celebration for my boyfriend. The setting was very modern and beautiful. We were welcomed right away by our server who was so attentive and helpful throughout our entire dining experience. She was knowledgeable about the menu and the specials as well as what drinks would work best with what we ordered.
We ordered the charcuterie board to start. There was a wide variety of different cheeses and meats; some my boyfriend was more favorable to over as others and vice versa for me. We finished the entire thing with no problem. He had the wagyu beef while I had the pork tasting. Both were cooked to a nice medium/medium rare. The meats were tender and well seasoned. We ended the night with their dark chocolate dessert which looked like a work of art and ended up being so flavorful and melting in our mouths.
The price for everything was on the higher side and they add an automatic 20% gratuity, but it was well worth the price. This would be a great date night or celebratory restaurant.
Beautiful! Pork belly was the best thing I’ve ever eaten.
I made the reservation on open table and stated in the notes we were coming for an anniversary. There was a card on our table for us wishing us a happy anniversary when we arrived. Food was delicious and perfectly prepared!
The food was outstanding. The poor service started with the hostess. We were on time for a 7:30 reservation. We were happy to have a drink at the bar for a few minutes. 30 minutes later on a night that was not particularly crowded we still had no table. The hostess continued to put us on ice until another gentleman came along and finally seated us.
We had no silverware without asking. Our waitress was rushed. No bread. The smug hostess showed up again to pour wine which she did all over the table because she didn’t take her time. We witnessed her do the same at a table next to us as well. Over all the wait staff missed the customer service aspect of the experience which was disappointing and should be corrected at 20% mandatory gratuity, especially given the high quality of the food and menu.
Only other observation is that the restaurant seemed particularly smoky or hazy. I think the kitchen may have had a venting issue.
The food was delicious as always. Nice variety of offerings.
Fantastic creative food. Service was exemplary. Our server, Patty, was terrific.
Excellent food, great variety and beautiful presentation!
Eating at The Grey Plume is always fabulous. Chef Clayton Chapman is an amazing chef and host. Heather Smith, the restaurant manager and sommelier is welcoming, knowledgeable and upbeat.
The food is always incredibly good. The presentation and the flavors and the combinations are world class.
I arrived for dinner service on a Tuesday at 6pm to a very dead restaurant, however by the time I left at 7:30, there were a few more tables occupied. This restaurant is very cute and the food is amazing, so I hope the folks of NE appreciate the gem that they have in Grey Plume.
I know everyone raves about the duck fat fries, but for a party of 1, they would have been too much for me, so instead, I chose the honey creek creamery gnudi and it was incredible! This is a MUST order. I have never had anything quite like it before. In addition to the gnudi, I had the Beaufort mahi mahi and it too incredible!
I almost left without trying dessert and after trying the duck fat donut, I wish I had left before consuming the extra calories. The donut was dry and the ice cream was melted. I felt like I was dipping my dry donut into milk. For such an incredible meal, this was the worst dessert I have ever head at an establishment of this magnitude.
Besides the disappointing dessert, I would definitely come back for more amazing food.
The Grey Plume is exquisite. In my opinion, best menu in Omaha. It defines "fine dining" This last visit, my husband devoured the Elk and said it was truly the best prepared Elk he has ever had the privilege of eating. The soup is always flavorful and the presentation always beautiful.
Our dinner was wonderful. The service was perfect and the food, as always, was amazing. Can’t wait to return.
I've been wanting to go to the Grey Plume for years, and it was certainly worth the wait! While it's not an expense I could spring every day, I really found the dining experience to be worth it. The ambiance was so very enjoyable, and our server knew the story behind every dish, from the butter to the coffee we enjoyed after our meal. I also feel good knowing I'm eating at a highly conscientious restaurant, and for that reason alone would recommend The Grey Plume to others looking for fine dining in Omaha.
REVIEW INCLUDES UPDATE: Watch out for the 20% hospitality charge. That’s on top of tipping your waiter. Pretty ballsy business move to expect your patrons to fork out 40% in tip. Won’t be back because the food isn’t good enough to justify the cost. The beef collar was chewy and the mahi mahi was flavorless. Outstanding popcorn and charcuterie board though!
Updated review...the owner called me directly to discuss our dining experience and was able to explain the hospitality charge and the confusion surrounding it. He also invited us back to try the restaurant again with a $50 comp. Customer service is not dead! Mr. Chapman obviously cares about his patrons and a lot of respect goes out to him in reaching out to a customer with a subpar experience. Thank you Grey Plume for reaching out to us!
The food was good. My salad was especially tasty. My $25 tortellini came with exactly 5 tortellini, all of which were bland. My wife’s beef was cooked expertly. Her soup was delicious. And The charcuterie was all over the map: some of it was outstanding, and some of it (we’re pretty sure) was Fancy Feast.
They gave us one small pad of butter for the table. And it was served on a flat rock.
Overall, we liked it the meal!
It was $190.
For $95 a person, I feel like I should come away saying “oh my god it was fantastic!”, not “yeah, it was good.”
I don’t want to return.
A lovely restaurant with creative, unusual, delicious food and a great atmosphere. The wine list even included an Arneis! We had a lovely 3 hour dinner with friends and enjoyed every minute of it. Such a great surprise on our first visit to Omaha!
Wonderful night out, delicious meal
Good food...interior decor was great....service was good
Excellent. Great unusual menu options. Fantastic service.
