   The only disappointment was we did not get the waitperson I had asked for in the reservation. However, our waitperson was very attentive and accommodating. I wanted salmon but just with some teriyaki rather than the menu choice that went with the salmon. Was able to get teriyaki on the side and enjoyed my meal. Had asked the waitperson to give us a little time to enjoy our salad before presenting our entrees, which was accomplished.

   The restaurant is very charmingly repurposing an old building in downtown Fort Wayne. We were delighted with the atmosphere from the start. Our server greeted us was promptly and took out drink orders and returned quickly with our beef slider appetizer. The sliders were a hit with everyone at the table! In fact our son commented that he would order those every time - since he lives in town. We then selected our meals and ordered a wine selection so that we could celebrate our son’s birthday. Our server returned a few moments later with our wine bottle uncorked and placed it on the table. This struck as as odd since we are often order wine with our meals and usually it’s uncorked in front of you and with the cork presented and a tasting poured to make sure it’s to your liking. Instead we had to pour our own wine? This left us wondering how the remainder of the meal would unfold. Nevertheless our meals arrived a short time later and the serving portions were more than generous! Our son ordered the filet medium and it came out rare so the kitchen fired it off and returned a few minutes later. My husband ordered the jambalaya and announced it was the best he’d ever had! I ordered the crispy chicken salad with blue cheese dressing. The presentation was fantastic, the chicken breast was crispy and salad delicious. So we found the restaurant overall surprised and delighted us! To round out the meal our server asked presented our son with a selection of complimentary dessert selections to celebrate his birthday. He ordered the crème brûlée and reported it was delicious! In closing I would say the food was fantastic! Portions are huge and the atmosphere is charming. We recommend reservations which we had made in advance however since we were not familiar with the restaurant we didn’t have a preference as to seating. We would recommend sitting in the bar area as it is a bit quieter for conversation. Otherwise the main dining area is a galley with traffic & noise.

   Three excellent meals ( all fish) and one sad looking tough filet mignon. One couple shared the carrot cake. The other couple shared German chocolate cake. Both were excellent!

   The Gas House is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is primarily traditional but the food quality is very high. My wife and I like to take the kids here: it has a great family atmosphere, great food, and there's always something that a 12 year old and a 6 year old is going to love!

    My wife had a black and blue sirloin/well - Said it was 'perfect'. I had the pepper stuffed chic breast w/ risotto- melts in your mouth, and the flavors blends are so delicious. Definitely a Valentine's day Eve dinner to remember. Thank you Jay, you made our night great!!

    My husband had the peppercorn pork with mashed potatoes and Caesar salad. I had the blackened salmon with asparagus w holondase sauce. Wedge salad. Loaf of bread and bottle of wine. Delicious.

    The Gas House has become our go-to for our wedding anniversary dinner (though we love to eat here year round too!). This anniversary dinner was exceptional, even better than our previous experiences, which were also great. They always get my husband’s very rare steak just perfect, something that doesn’t always happen at other steakhouses. A very kind server made the evening wonderful, sending us home with a fresh loaf of their yummy bread. We appreciate it!

    Made a reservation Told them it was a birthday NOTHING EVER MENTIONED SBOUT A BIRTHDAY!!! Salad was disgusting-could not eat Asparagus was cold Shrimp was SMALL AND SERVED OB A BED OF EILTED GREENS-said nothing about that on the menu Dirty plates left in front of us And again, SERVER HAD NO IDEA IT WAS A SPECIAL OCCASION!!! And to top it off, the hostess and cashier were SO ENGROSSED ON THEIR PHONES THEY COULDNT BE BOTHERED TO MAKE EYE COBTA Y as we passed them on the way out or I would have informed them of ALL OF THIS. NOTE: I’ve worked for this company for over 20 years and I truly admire all they have accomplished in this industry. That’s what is even more disappointing about this experience. Ben Hall your patrons deserve much better!

    Met my daughter and her husband for dinner. Food was very good. Cocktails served promptly but then it seemed our waitress disappeared for a bit. Finally took order for appetizer and second round of cocktails. Then she seemed more aware of us and taking our dinner order.

    We had an awesome meal here! The service was very good - Marsha did amazing and was so helpful! The bread was so good, we tried not to eat too much but couldn’t resist. Price was very reasonable for downtown - all in all would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good value and service.

    Went here for New Year’s Eve dinner with friends. Nice restaurant. They were ready for us with a table set up and waiting. Staff was very attentive and friendly. The bar service was hit-miss. Five of us ordered drinks. Two of us had watered down cocktails. One said hers was too strong - she didn’t like the flavor (it was one of their signature drinks). Two enjoyed their drinks. Not sure why there would be such a difference in the items that came out of the bar. Food was good. The sides were much more than typical potatoes and beans. My steak was more medium well - I ordered it medium - so that was a little disappointing based on the price of their food. It was a good place for a special occasion.

    My Wife and I have eaten at The Gas House quite often and always ordered the Lobster and Prime Rib. The last two times the lobster was not properly cooked. For the premium price we paid it was not worth it.

    My husband’s steak came out wrong. My daughter and her friend’s hamburgers were burnt to where they couldn’t even eat them. My chicken was okay, but for the price, it was super tiny. My sweet potatoes were burnt and extremely dry. The waiter was not very friendly. We were his only table too, so he was not overly busy, so there was no excuse for his negative attitude. We only questioned the steak and dealt with the rest. We have gone here numerous times and this was the first time I was disappointed to the point we won’t be back.

    The Gas House was simply amazing! The service was professional and prompt, the food was served quickly in generous portions, and the atmosphere was top-of-the-line. We got the window table, the best spot in the house, and it was simply beautiful. Our entire experience far exceeded expectations and the prices were very reasonable for this level of quality in food and service.

    We had reservations for approximately 3 weeks. I called in route as we were on the way and they still had to scramble to figure out where to seat us. Then they told us we had to be out of the table by 7:30 for other guests who have reservations. We explained that we would be gone as we were going to the ballet for a 7:30 show. Upon being seated the waiter brought us waters and immediately informed us that he had all of the other tables in the room to take orders from before he could get to us. There were 2 other tables. We explained that was fine. I requested a bowl of beef barley soup. Neither beef or barley were in the soup unless you count beef broth as the beef portion. I ate 2 spoonfuls and slid the bowl to the side of the table so the waiter would know there was something wrong. He never asked. However, he did ask the table next to us and apologized to them and removed the item from their bill. I felt like we were unwanted from the moment we walked in.
