   We had high expectations based on previous reviews. As others said, service was great. Food was only fair. It’s a steak place and we didn’t order steak … lesson learned. Carrot cake was good though.

   Our waiter was very attentive but forgot a couple of minor things which, when reminded, he brought promptly. Only complaint was…after a full day of travel to have to wait an hour from ordering to food delivery was frustrating. It was not our waiters fault. He delivered the entrees as they came out. Only one of us had to wait while the others started eating. No complaints about the food…it was awesome.

   Always one of the best restaurants in town. Love going here whether we're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or promotion, or just want a girls' night out, or a date night on the town. The staff is helpful, kind, and very informative. Of the countless times I've been in the last two to three years, I've never had bad service.

   It was a nice place. The servers are on top of everything, and the options are plenty! We had a hard time deciding what we wanted, but our choices weren’t bad at all. The peach cider was delicious if you like ciders, and the steak was cooked perfectly.

    We both had the 10 ounce prime rib the flavor was good but the amount of fat in mine was half of it and was about a half inch thick cut and my wife's was about an inch thick thankfully she didn't eat all hers our waitress was great and the sides were great

    Good food but I didn’t like on the endless soup and salad that the waitress served the salad first then waited awhile to give us our soup. I would rather have had both at the same time.

    Outstanding steaks, selection, service, and value. Perfectly cooked steak and sides. Fresh salad with wide variety of homemade dressings. Read a few negative reviews and was glad that I disregarded a few uncharacteristic opinions. This dinner was a highlight of our stay.

    The DanO ribeye steak was perfection. I had the hash browns with onion and a garden salad and they were excellent as well. The loaf of warm bread was to die for. Our server, Mark, was on point by being attentive but not too much. The only negative was that my hubby’s crab cakes were a little too mushy.

    The food and service are great. The furniture is getting shabby. Couldn't sit directly in three of four chairs at table due to deep tears in vinyl seats. Not sure why a successful, long standing restaurant like this would let repairs and upgrades go for so long. We've been Gas House customers for over 30 years, but I don't want to take out of town guests to a shabbily maintained restaurant, even if the foods great.

    The last two times my wife and I have gone there for dinner, one of us had a horrible experience. This time, my tuna was cooked medium, but had the consistency of over-cooked pork chops and had been sitting on the antipasto so long that the vinegar had soaked into the fish and every bite had a vinegar flavor rather than the tuna. The side fries were soggy. Also, the whole meal was on the cooler side of warm. The server paid much more attention to her tables that had more than two people. A couple at another table simply got up and went to pay at the hostess station, I believe. Took almost 30 minutes to take the order, but managed to get us something to drink in a decent time. Never checked on how we were enjoying our meal and simply picked up and walked away from the table without asking why the meal was barely touched. Second time in a row for this kind of service and food from the Gas House. Too many options out there to go back anymore for this bad of an experience.

    First time at the Gas House, the prime rib and ribeye were both wonderful. Cooked perfectly to our liking and very flavorful. The fresh baked bread was wonderful too! Wish they had a few more options for dessert, like ice cream and/or a brownie.

    My husband and I met a couple friends here for a St Patrick’s Day dinner - this was my first time here. I ordered a Moscow mule and it was STRONG. No complaints there! For my meal, I ordered the filet - cooked medium - with the sweet potato purée. My steak was a little on the rare side, but the flavor was good. Not the best filet I’ve had, but good flavor. The sweet potato purée was fantastic! I could probably eat that everyday to be totally honest. The downside: The side salads were a bit strange. Random toppings on regular salads that didn’t need more added to them. I wasn’t a fan of the Caesar dressing. It’s on the tangier side, but to each their own. The overall experience was a 3.5/5 for me. I expected really good steak for the price we paid. So that was a bit of a disappointment. I would go here again to give it another try.

    The only disappointment was we did not get the waitperson I had asked for in the reservation. However, our waitperson was very attentive and accommodating. I wanted salmon but just with some teriyaki rather than the menu choice that went with the salmon. Was able to get teriyaki on the side and enjoyed my meal. Had asked the waitperson to give us a little time to enjoy our salad before presenting our entrees, which was accomplished.

    The restaurant is very charmingly repurposing an old building in downtown Fort Wayne. We were delighted with the atmosphere from the start. Our server greeted us was promptly and took out drink orders and returned quickly with our beef slider appetizer. The sliders were a hit with everyone at the table! In fact our son commented that he would order those every time - since he lives in town. We then selected our meals and ordered a wine selection so that we could celebrate our son’s birthday. Our server returned a few moments later with our wine bottle uncorked and placed it on the table. This struck as as odd since we are often order wine with our meals and usually it’s uncorked in front of you and with the cork presented and a tasting poured to make sure it’s to your liking. Instead we had to pour our own wine? This left us wondering how the remainder of the meal would unfold. Nevertheless our meals arrived a short time later and the serving portions were more than generous! Our son ordered the filet medium and it came out rare so the kitchen fired it off and returned a few minutes later. My husband ordered the jambalaya and announced it was the best he’d ever had! I ordered the crispy chicken salad with blue cheese dressing. The presentation was fantastic, the chicken breast was crispy and salad delicious. So we found the restaurant overall surprised and delighted us! To round out the meal our server asked presented our son with a selection of complimentary dessert selections to celebrate his birthday. He ordered the crème brûlée and reported it was delicious! In closing I would say the food was fantastic! Portions are huge and the atmosphere is charming. We recommend reservations which we had made in advance however since we were not familiar with the restaurant we didn’t have a preference as to seating. We would recommend sitting in the bar area as it is a bit quieter for conversation. Otherwise the main dining area is a galley with traffic & noise.

    The Gas House is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is primarily traditional but the food quality is very high. My wife and I like to take the kids here: it has a great family atmosphere, great food, and there's always something that a 12 year old and a 6 year old is going to love!

    My wife had a black and blue sirloin/well - Said it was 'perfect'. I had the pepper stuffed chic breast w/ risotto- melts in your mouth, and the flavors blends are so delicious. Definitely a Valentine's day Eve dinner to remember. Thank you Jay, you made our night great!!

    The Gas House has become our go-to for our wedding anniversary dinner (though we love to eat here year round too!). This anniversary dinner was exceptional, even better than our previous experiences, which were also great. They always get my husband’s very rare steak just perfect, something that doesn’t always happen at other steakhouses. A very kind server made the evening wonderful, sending us home with a fresh loaf of their yummy bread. We appreciate it!

    Made a reservation Told them it was a birthday NOTHING EVER MENTIONED SBOUT A BIRTHDAY!!! Salad was disgusting-could not eat Asparagus was cold Shrimp was SMALL AND SERVED OB A BED OF EILTED GREENS-said nothing about that on the menu Dirty plates left in front of us And again, SERVER HAD NO IDEA IT WAS A SPECIAL OCCASION!!! And to top it off, the hostess and cashier were SO ENGROSSED ON THEIR PHONES THEY COULDNT BE BOTHERED TO MAKE EYE COBTA Y as we passed them on the way out or I would have informed them of ALL OF THIS. NOTE: I’ve worked for this company for over 20 years and I truly admire all they have accomplished in this industry. That’s what is even more disappointing about this experience.
