Surprised my boyfriend and took him there. He loved it, I loved it. I am gluten free so it’s always hard going places, but their gluten free options were delicious. Wine was great and so was the service! Loved it!
Great vibes!!!! <3
Fun place everybody was really nice service was slow and it was quite loud mainly because I was with an older person…
My cocktail I ordered when I sat down came about halfway through dinner… And was very expensive for what I received… As a former bartended…
Really great Kobe beef burger!
The service did not live up to it’s excellent reputation
The last four or five visits the Food has been terrible.
The old location had better food !
The Funky Door, now that it has moved, is truly a beautiful environment. I love the look of the place, and the open feel of the restaurant. While the menu is limited, I subscribe to Gordon Ramsey's philosophy that we indeed should have a simple menu, one in which everything tastes delicious. And that is mostly the case here. The fondue is RICH, but it's a favorite for sure, especially the gouda and caraway seeds. I loved the bone marrow appetizer, certainly the only place in Lubbock to find that. And the ahi tuna, well, it was pretty delicious. We went one night and had mystery wine, which is fun and cheap, and we also went for brunch. The menu there is pretty eclectic and delicious. One of the my favorite restaurants in town right now for sure.
I did not know the food was this good. I would not change anything about my experience, i will be going back definitely!
Had high hopes from past experience. Sea bass was tough not flakey. Filet minion was cooked medi rare as ordered but dry drinks were good. Overall diner for two $100 plus tip- wish we hadn’t gone
Fondue was great, steak was wonderful, drinks were really good and our waiter, Ben was exceptional!
Food was excellent. The restaurant was very busy for a Monday night but the staff handled it well. Great wine list.
Great wine and outstanding service. We always feel at home here.
Our server was excellent! She knew the menu and gave us great recommendations!
It was a great experience for my mother's birthday. We both enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
The pear salad was amazing! Wine list was impressive and service was great. Nice building, comfortable and nice looking restaurant.
My best friend and I celebrated the birth of my grandson. Our waiter was delightful and suggested wonderful and yummy food and wine. We were able to sit upstairs away from the live musical performer. That made it easy to talk and hear one another. Looking forward to returning.
Food was great. Service left a lot to be desired. I can understand it was a busy night and they were having some issues with their credit card system. But it took 30 min to get our waiter to acknowledge us, and that was after we flagged down the hostess after sitting for 15 min.
Great atmosphere food was fantastic and the wait staff was very friendly
Great local dining. Wonderful new building. Dine on the 2nd floor if possible or patio weather permitting.
Food was wonderful, server was great; however it took more than hour for our food order- it was Mother’s Day, so I understand it was busy. We’ll be back—but not on a holiday!!
We went for brunch on Mother’s Day. The food was good, although we were disappointed that they didn’t have a special menu for Mother’s Day. Just the same brunch menu as any regular Sunday. The server appeared to not want to be there. She did not acknowledge Mother’s Day until we were almost done. She did offer the mom at the table a complimentary mimosa like the other servers did. She never brought salt and pepper after it was asked for. We had to ask for syrup for our waffles. We had to remind her to bring water. She was not attentive at all. We have always had a good experience here until today. We will be going back but will make sure not to sit in Linda’s section. This was a very disappointing experience.
The Funky Door is a little bit of everything. It's a great dining experience while being very comfortable and inviting. The wine list is outstanding and the wait staff is always amazing. Nothing on the menu is like anywhere else. They have their own "funky" menu that works very well for any type of occasion.
The waitress was really nice but there wasn't much to choose from when it came to food. The food we ordered was nasty and overpriced. The cocktails were overpriced as well. I will not be going here again.
Overall a fun night. We had to ask to be moved because our table wobbled badly, even after our waitress tried to fix it. The food and drinks were excellent. Our waitress forgot to put our food order in, but they were quick to remedy the problem when they figured it out. Live music was great, overall ambiance was nice.
My son and I went for brunch Saturday. They were very busy, but we still had amazing service. Maddy, our server, was amazing! Also, several other servers stopped by the table to deliver food, fill drinks, etc. In addition- the hostess at the front, Emily, went above and beyond.
Love it there, little pricey but worth every cent.
First time at their new location. It was great. Nice live band. Our service was excellent. Would recommend for all occasions.
I met a friend for Saturday brunch the table location, the service and the ambiance were impeccable! Kate was our server and she did an amazing job! The menu selections were varied and the food we ordered looked amazing and tasted so as well. The jazz was entertaining in the back ground but soft enough that conversation was easy. This was my third time visiting and I will be back as often as possible. The funky door is an oasis in the middle of the desert. Would recommend to anyone local or new to town, definitely a must do in Lubbock!
My husband and I loved our first experience at The Funky Door! High quality surroundings, great food, very friendly waitstaff. And the live music was wonderful! Such a fun evening!
Awesome food, beautiful and unique surroundings, but it can feel a little cramped at the tables and noise due to spacing.
Great food and atmosphere. A little noisy..hard to hold a conversation. The music was excellent, but too loud. It shouldn’t be like a concert when people are eating and trying to talk.
Spaghetti squash lasagna was over cooked
Salmon was very under cooked
Server was very poor
Poor meat quality. The filet had no flavor and tasted equivalent to Cracker Barrel.
Nice upscale wine bar in Lubbock (a rare find). Loved the atmosphere and enjoyed a nice dinner during our recent visit. Management overlooked a request I had made prior to our arrival, though went out of her way to apologize for the oversight. Will definitely return.
I made reservation for 3 ended up just being 2 of us. We got there a few minutes early music was very loud. We were taken to our table up stairs, last table to the wait station. The wait staff was very loud. I asked our waiter to move us, he did very quickly. Our waiter was Ben, he was wonderful. After our meal he took us on a tour of the restaurant. He made us feel very special.
Went for Brunch, it was amazing! The fondue was delicious, my husband had the omelet which was HUGE, I had the stuffed avocado eggs Benedict which was incredibly tasty! Everything was cooked perfectly, including the poached eggs. Bottomless mimosas to boot! We will absolutely be going again. They dinner menu looks amazing and the wine list is extensive.
Overall the place was very nice decor and atmosphere. We ordered 16 oz ribeye, which my husband said it had no flavor and was more fat than steak. I myself ordered the filet mignon and it was very tender but again had no flavor. We usually do use steak sauce but requested it for our entrees. The cheese sticks were awesome and the sides with our entrees were very good. Our waiter, Levi was very attentive and made sure we got a little treat being it was our 35th anniversary.
It was my friend’s daughter’s birthday. Drinks at brunch were great, perfect table upstairs and the live music was spot on. Only issue was the food mix up. On the positive side the mix up turned out to be something we’d try in the future. On the negative side the birthday girl ate alone
The food was delicious, the wine selection amazing and the entertainment was perfect. Can't wait to visit again and sit on the patio. Great service and a great time!
Had reservations but waited over 10min for a server just to get water. It was not busy yet. There was a late table but it was not our servers. After that service was great. If you sit upstairs be ready for a bouncy night. It didn’t bother me but my wife had a hard time. She felt like she was sitting in an even in West Texas wind. The appetizer was great. Her chicken was “ok” per her but could have been any restaurants chicken in town no wow for the price. Her side was bland she ate part of it. My Kobe burger, (recommended by our server) was excellent. Great beer, spirits, and wine list. May go back but not sure
Enjoyed our experience and the atmosphere. Our food was delicious and really enjoyed our appetizers...the homemade burrata was yummy! The service was prompt and friendly. The cool space is a refreshing addition to Lubbock's dinner options.
