The Funky Door
First time here and I was very impressed. Service was great and the atmosphere was amazing!!
Great food and service!! Great selections of food and wine!
Great food, atmosphere, selections and the service was excellent.
My wife and I have always enjoyed eating there at the Funky Door. The food, service, wine, ambiance is always what we love about going to this establishment. I recommend it to several people every chance I get. It is a great Date night experience.
We sat outdoors on the patio for brunch at 11am on Sunday, 10/11/2020. It took over an hour for four simple entrees to be served (burger, chicken & waffles, French toast and eggs Benedict). Burger was cold and soggy as if the kitchen forgot about our order. It was a mildly windy day yet none of the patio umbrellas were secured in the tables. Our son's girlfriend was hit by an open, unsecured umbrella from a neighboring table as it fell on her and our table. Another umbrella at a nearby table blew over and almost hot other guests. Table service was overall fine and I imagine the food would have been better if had it been served fresh upon preparation.
Loved our visit and the chef is outstanding !!
Love this place !!
Great food, great service. Landry was our server and we will definitely request him again.
Food was amazing. Live music was perfect. Service was excellent. Definitely a favorite for girls night out!
Wonderful place to eat. We go every time we are in Lubbock.
Bad: Table wobbled. Chairs were way to short for the table. Food wasn't served even warm. Sat us so far apart we couldn't talk. Second floor but no elevator. Not disabled friendly.
Good: Food tasted nice. Drink was wonderful. And waitress was friendly.
Great food but ran out of most items prior to our arrival.
I have always been a big fan of this restaurant, but was disappointed at my last visit. All the food that I was served was cold. I said something to my server but she did not respond. I am not sure what the seating rules for restaurants are in Lubbock but all the tables were full. They did not appear to be functioning any reduced capacity.
Service was great and food was very good (pear salad with chicken). The ambiance is very cool - love the wine walls! I really like having live music, but the volume should be turned down. Otherwise you can’t have a conversation in the main dining room. If the music was turned down a notch, Funky Door would be close to perfect. But as it is, I’ll either ask to sit upstairs or in the back, or dine elsewhere.
Always a delight! Love the live music on the weekends!
The salmon was amazing!!!
Great place to dine and celebrate!!
Good food, good music, our wait staff Steely was wonderful. She helped our daughter find a Gluten free menu item that was fantastic. My only struggle with The Funky Door are the acoustics whenever music is playing. Concrete floors, high ceiling, hard walls make for a loud, sometimes inaudible sound from the musicians. Otherwise its great for special occasions.
Great food! Great service! Awesome atmosphere. Always have a great experience here.
It was amazing!! The food was so good and there was live music which I loved.
Food was not as good as we remembered it. The restaurant’s lack of covid-19 safe practices made our party very anxious.
Friends gather to see each other
Our experience was absolutely amazing, it was our anniversary and we had a great time, we will definitely be back!!
The food wasn’t as good as the price was high, the live music was way to loud had to basically yell to speak.
Monday’s are the night to go because the Mystery Wine Nights are a steal. You tell them what you prefer (red/white dry/sweet) and you get served a surprise glass. I’ve yet to have a wine I disliked. The food is incredible and there was live music, a solo guy singing old country. A really great experience.
When ever I am in town in Lubbock I always try to make it as the food and atmosphere are
great. They have a large wine list and upscale dining.
it was great, the food was wonderful. the music was nice, and the atmosphere was fun.
Our server Steely was amazing and was very caring.
The music was absolutely phenomenal while we were there. The funky door is one of those places you don't go to rush out the door, so we were there a while, but the service was great and we were served well.
The atmosphere was excellent! The food was delicious! The entertainment was fabulous! Our tab was very pricey!
Great food and ambiance!
It was just an overall great experience like always!!
They are still slow with service. But the food is always great. They just don’t seem to have a sense of urgency when it comes to service. Water, drinks, making sure everything is ok.
Our food was excellent, and our server Landry was very attentive. It was a great Saturday brunch.
Went for a birthday dinner and it was the best choice we could have made! Incredible staff, service, food and ambiance! 10/10 would recommend.
Good atmosphere and great service. Food was very good and the wine list is also good.
Wonderful as always!
Everything was great except for one table with 8 people who were so noisy it detracted from the dinning atmosphere. Not your fault.
Great spot! The food was good and the patio is great. Get a Pink Fizzy Martini when you go!
The Funky Door was amazing! This is a great place for a date, party, business meal or anything else you need when food or drink is a part of it. The live music was good and not too loud on the second level. The patio looked great as well. It was difficult to choose what to eat as everything looked phenomenal. Our server, Landry, was superb......from wine selection to food choose. He was on too of his game! We will be sure to ask for him next time!
This was my husband and my third time dining at The Funky Door. We really want to enjoy it. It’s a cool place, and the live music is great. But the food... we just can’t justify going anymore. The drinks and music aren’t worth trying to dine there anymore.
First, we want to give them props for their drinks. Perfect dirty martinis and cocktails.
However, Lubbock is hot and dry, and the food at the Funky Door echoes that sentiment. We started with the beef wontons- the wonton was thick and tough, and fried. We could have used a steak nice to cut through them (and not because of the steak). My husband had the smothered chicken dish, which he said was ok but under seasoned. His asparagus still had the tough stalks attached, and he asked to sub mushrooms for the potatoes. Didn’t get the mushrooms, but was charged the substitution charge of $3. I was trying to avoid a large dish of disappointing food so I got the crab cakes and a side of “blistered” okra. The crab cakes were mostly breading with a slightly fishy taste. The aioli was the only thing that made them edible, but after one I couldn’t bring myself to eat anymore. Even my husband (who absolutely hates to waste) didn’t want them. The “blistered” okra- I just don’t know what to say. It was cut up, fried, dried, okra. In my mind I was thinking along the line of blistered shishitos, and what a great idea to do with whole okra. No. That is not what that is. Think more along the lines of okra chips, but greasy and drier. We decided to have desert for the fun of it, it was already so bad we were going to go all out with the creme brûlée. So, I’ll say it tasted good, because I like vanilla pudding and burnt sugar. But this was not what I would consider creme brûlée.
We will not be back to dine. However, we may stop sometime after dinner for drinks and music.
