The Funky Door
This isn’t our first time. My wife and I really enjoy the dining environment. Also food and drinks are great!
Highly recommend the crab cakes, amazing!!! Great experience and the food & drinks were excellent! T
Food and service is always great. Later in the evening, the atmosphere is very energetic.
We had a reservation through Open Table. The table they seated us at at first was so small. We asked to be. Over and at first were told by waiter they couldn’t but then he did go ask. He forgot to bring us water asked several times. He was preoccupied with table next to us that had a friend at. We waited for him to pick up bill and I finally had to get up and take to manager.
Food was good. The steK wS ordered medium and really came our medium rRe but with the horrible service we didn’t want to chance sending it back. The noise level was extremely high and they had a musician playing as well. She was very good but you even struggled to her her talk between songs which wasn’t fair to her. Food good service horrible
Amazing food, amazing staff, and mimosas are to die for!
The brunch was so good!
Great place! Fun atmosphere. Great wine selection, live music, fondue, regular entrees and excellent service. Something for everyone. Would highly recommend. Easy reservations on Open Table.
Wonderful service and great food
When band started it became too loud
The Funky Door is always great!! My wife and I have been coming here for years, even back to their original location. We brought a client and his fiancé (their first time) and really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended!!
We had a grand brunch. The live music was very, very good! We had avocado eggs Benedict...and it never disappoints! Add a side of vegetables or beef tips...or enjoy the buffet. It was sooooo good!
A welcome change to the dining options at Lubbock. The best watering hole for the wine lovers.
Keep it up. Would visit again.
Love The Funky Door! Brunch is definitely better than the dinner experience. Wanted to give a recognition to Matt G. He is an amazing server! Definitely coming back for brunch!
I love the Funky Door. Every time I'm in Lubbock, I go there to eat. The food and the service is amazing and the entertainment is very enjoyable.
I let Open Table know it was my birthday, thought there would be something special offered, not until I told them twice it was my birthday and they brought me a glass of champagne . Really think they should have offered my husband a glass, come on they didn’t serve an expensive glass,!,we did buy a very nice bottle of wine!, Think that is really cheap on Funky Door!,,
Banana foster fondue was fantastic. Margarita is not very good. Did not care for the steak have had much better steaks at other restaurants. Felt like they are overpriced.
Waitress gave this place a bad name. She was the worst She was exceptionally rude. the table and the floor around us were filthy she never checked back on us for drinks until the end when she offered us teas to go. I gave her a $.15 tip and felt that was too much. Very uncharacteristic of this great place
Hey Cory, I am so sorry for your unfortunate visit. We value all of our guests feedback and would love for the opportunity to visit with you further about this. Please email us at thefunkydoorwineroom@gmail Thank you, Jessicka Gonzales GM
The atmosphere is amazing and we especially enjoyed the jazz brunch. I was blown away by the shrimp and grits, the cheese sticks were a nice surprise as well. Would love to visit here more often if only I didn’t live in AL!
Went for brunch with family for my birthday. After checking out the menu online we were excited to try certain things, only to find out that they were serving a limited menu that weekend due to graduation, of which we were not fully informed of until after we had placed our order. (We did notice the menu was much smaller than what is posted on the website). The food was great and our waiter was very kind, but unfortunately not a great overall experience like we have had on previous visits.
We had a great dinner. The fondue is a must. All of our entrees were excellent. We love coming here when we visit our Red Raider.
I’ve eaten here before, and was really pleased with the food and the service. However, I recently took my wife and daughter for a Mother’s Day lunch and was very disappointed. The food selection at the Mother’s Day buffet (the only choice) was really lacking. The prime rib that they served was very fatty, and there weren’t any cooked vegetables to go with it. The dessert selection was also slim. Little bite sized brownies, cheesecake and marshmallows that you could put chocolate on. The service was also very slow, and i didn’t receive the omelet that i ordered from the omelet station for 15 minutes. It was too bad because it was such a special occasion.
Great service, great food, great wine, great experience
Great food and great service
Love coming to The Funky Door! The servers are always so kind and helpful with suggestions. The food is amazing, the drinks are great, and the live music really makes it feel more personal.
Service was excellent and food was outstanding. I had the special Burrata Salad and my wife the Caesar, both were very good. I had the stuffed tenderloin on the regular menu, outstanding. My wife had the Mahi Mahi special that was very good as well. Overall, a delightful experience. We will definitely be back!
I love this place, however I made a reservation at 8:30 and when I got there I wanted to sit away from the band so we could talk. There was a lot of tables upstairs where we had requested to go, they told us we would have to wait 10 to 15 mins. At least 10 parties who came in after us were led upstairs yet we were told there was none for our party of three. After waiting 45 mins for the special night out I planned for my mother we just took a table that was in the exact spot our original table was in.
My Girlfriend and I had a great time! We had a last minute cancellation with a mutual friend and they were super about re-arranging another suitable table despite the fact that they were busy. Great live bank and also picked a great spot for a selfie pic of us that they took for us. Great place.
Great food, drinks & atmosphere!

Love the brunch at Funky door, the food was excellent as always and even though it is a jazz brunch we could still hold a conversation with difficulty. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great place to brunch!
It was a good experience and the food was delivered timely. Our waiter was very attentive.
This was a huge surprise to find in Lubbock! Very cool atmosphere, great wine selection, lovely patio seating area and the food is delicious.. Highly recommend for any occasion. Definitely will return whenever I’m in Town!
Took almost 2 hours for us to get our food then my medium hamburger came out rare. Nice waiter but 2 hours for a meal, not again.
As always we were beyond satisfied with Funky Door. So much so we are going back this coming weekend with a table of 10!! Keep up the great work!!
Maddie our waitress was perfect for our anniversary. Very up beat and helpful with our questions. The Ono fish was a bit dry and that is really the only negative on the food. The bacon mushroom risotto was amazing, could be a dish on it's own. The tenderloin with au poivre was perfect! Like butter. The asparagus was very good, however I would recommend cutting off more of the woodsy stem on the bottom. We did the wine wall, which we probably should have saved that for another visit. It was fun, but tried to do to much in one night. We were greeted by champagne after we were seated, since I mentioned it was our anniversary when I reserved the table. Wasn't expecting that. We finished the night off with the chocolate fondue and shared the chocolate fantasy drink. Wow, what an awesome finish for the night. We should have done 2 of the drinks and no fondue, as we couldn't finish the fondue, hard to sip it :)
This is my favorite spot in Lubbock. They are always helpful and so kind.
Our 2 year anniversary
I love the atmosphere here and always have dinner when my business brings me to Lubbock. The wine selection is amazing and the food outstanding. The only slight complaint is that my salad and entree arrived at the same time and I would have expected the salad to arrive first.
The salmon I ordered for dinner wasnt tasty at all. I was the worst salmon dish I've had. It was too salty and the quinoa didn't taste good either. The white sangria and ambience was good but food wise, they did not deliver. This was the first time I've eaten here for dinner and it wasn't pleasant. I suggest just get drinks and appetizer and don't order any main dish. They always fail to please my taste. I can say the same from their previous location. I was hoping their main dish would be better but it still is one of the worst place to eat when you expect it to be that good considering the place looks nice and fancy.
Good food and service
Birthday brunch for my wife .... good service and good food
