Excellent food, but mediocre and very slow service, and it wasn’t busy as we had a reservation for 2pm. Incredibly loud music.
I always love coming here for a special dinner, it is always delicious. But, the heath bar bread pudding is the best thing ever and I can never not order it, no matter how stuffed I am from an excellent meal.
Food was excellent and our waitress Brandy was terrific. Great atmosphere - definitely repeat customers.
Great food, lively & noisy but all part of its essence & the neighborhood. Always a fun place & great people!
Food Market suffers from a quality of food that does not match the lovely environment. My food was cold, which is frankly unacceptable with an open table kitchen. Plus, it's quite pricey for what it is. They need to step it up in the kitchen. I'd rather go to Daniela's spend less, have better meal any day of the week.
Extremely creative takes on restaurant fare; we loved it! The flavors and textures created by the chefs were sublime. Our drinks were great and they have a well rounded, tight assortment of craft beers and wines - you couldn't pick wrong! The bar and restaurant were very busy on a Saturday night and the volume and energy reflected the beautiful people. A great value for food lovers.
One of the best meals I have had! Great selection of appetizers, small plates and entrees.
Celebrated a birthday, and the food was great! Service was awesome, we had a really good time.
My husband and I love The Food Market! The food is good, the service is great, and the drinks are amazing. This would be a great place for a date night or small family dinner. I wish I remembered our waiter’s name. We’ve had him twice and truly enjoyed our experience with him. Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing like always
Waiter was a bit in the weeds. As a result, service was slow.
Phenomenal. From the complimentary valet to our amazing server to the food, wine, dessert and coffee. Hosted a friend from Pittsburgh and she can't stop talking about The Food Market. Looking forward to returning!
The service was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent
We went to celebrate my birthday. Everyone LOVED all the food -- beets, deconstructed french onion soup, roasted cauliflower, shrimp, crab cakes, steak frites... Our server, Jennifer, was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. Dessert seemed to take a while to come out, so the kids started balancing spoons on their noses.
Our server was absolutely delightful and charming and the food was fantastic!! My friends enjoyed the ambiance and the delicious food. Oh and let’s not forget the tasty hot donuts served the moment you’re seated. Haven’t been in a while but the Food Market is still fantastic
As always it was outstanding. It's usually a bit noisy (and was still), but not unlike other popular eateries. Stands out big time in terms of quality, inventiveness, and consistency. It remains one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Baltimore!!!
Delicious food and fun cocktails. Can’t go wrong with getting a few small plates to share and try different things.
I really love the Food Market. The food is excellent, the place is hip, and the service is usually pretty good. The last time I went, the hostess wasn't super friendly when I asked about my reservation. We were meeting my in laws there and they had already arrived, but was just checking in to get clarity, etc., and she seemed borderline annoyed. I'd suggest reminding hosts/hostesses that they are the first people that guests interact with walking into the door and their job is to be friendly and helpful. Our server was nice and helpful, and the food was great. The tomatillo bloody mary was bad, though. I'd recommend the restaurant revisitng that one.
My son and I shared the avocado toast - the whipped goat cheese and salmon made an already incredible dish special. Next we had Lamb Spaetzle, which was devine. we ended with The Baltimore Club -wow! This restaurant is an absolute must for foodies!
Let me give you an sense of how good the food is here... we were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary and we really didn't even talk about going anywhere else. We've been here 5-6 times for dinner and brunch and haven't EVER been disappointed! I literally go to restaurants and pick and choose what I want because most menu's aren't very creative; when I come here I tell the wife to pick anything to split because I know it will all be good. The service is always quick and efficient; valet parking is free on key nights and is a super bonus if you know that area well. I recommend this place to everyone and I know it will be the same high quality service and food I've always come to expect.
The garlic wine herb butter shrimp was amazing for an appetizer for two. The seared tuna entree was such a good portion and some of the best tuna I've ever had. Our server James was helpful and so friendly. He brought out an oreo "dirt" mousse for my birthday. Great service with even better food
We had early reservations, for 5:45pm. Our meal was excellent, and our waiter was attentive and checked in exactly as often as needed. Our cocktails arrived quickly. Our waiter's wine recommendations were great as well. Courteous, respectful and attentive staff overall.
The place was too loud, but that is true of every modern decor restaurant these days, unfortunately.
Celebrating my husbands birthday with close friends. We loved every step of our meal, but our waiter was awesome
Fantastic spot. It’s now become an Orioles opening day tradition for us!
Food was delicious. We will be back.
An outstanding experience, nice drink and beer menu. Lobster fingers, bisque, short ribs, rockfish superior with flavors beautifully integrated
The food was excellent! The waitress/server lacked personality and seemed very rushed. This did impact the total dining experience. We were celebrating my husband’s special birthday and she never acknowledged it throughout the evening. Even when she brought the “birthday” desert- she couldn’t even eeek out a “happy birthday”!
The food and service was excellent. However, the noise level was such that it was hard to have a conversation along with a small child screaming at the top of his lungs while we were having dinner. Would have to think about recommending this place to anyone.
We have been to the Food Market several times and the food just seems to get better and better each time. The service was impeccable, we could not have asked for a better server. Can't wait to go back!
Awesome food, a little pricey for the portion size but very good table fare nevertheless
The food was incredible. The service was good and the noise level was noticeably less than the first time we were there. We had a really enjoyable time. We were celebrating a birthday and the only thing I had hoped would have been a little bit sharper/better was the little extra birthday details I had called ahead for. For example, the Perfect Manhattan I had requested to be ready at the table on arrival arrived at the table after we showed up, and I had to remind our server about the surprise birthday dessert.
Located in the heart of Hampden, The Food Market always offers a new twist on traditional Maryland cuisine. I recently dined there for Sunday brunch and enjoyed an Oyster omelet. First, we were served hot hush puppies, dusted with powdered sugar. Quite yummy. I managed to control myself to just one! My entre was a fairly large omelet with 6 small but delectable, lightly fried oysters with a side of breakfast potatoes with just the right amount of spice and flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive. Only draw back is the atmosphere is rather noisy and the restaurant is quite busy so you don't feel inclined to linger over a second cup but we will return.
Excellent, innovative and ambitious cuisine. Fantastic service. True gem
Great food & drinks! We’ve been before but this was the first time we’d gone for brunch, we’ll definitely be back!
Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday - not too hard to get a table but a reservation is recommended. Brunch cocktails were very very solid and the food was great. Will go back regularly.
My husband and I had a great experience at The Food Market. We ordered a bunch of small plates so we could try a variety of items. The fried pickles, pork belly, lamb porterhouses and fried oysters were our favorites, but everything we ordered was delicious across the board. We will definitely go back so we can try everything we didn't order this time! Our waiter was great, easy going and very professional. The ambiance was lively, but still comfortable.
The acoustics are just terrible here. Very difficult to have a conversation without yelling. It's just too loud. No one wants silence in a restaurant, but you should be able to talk to the person sitting next to you.
The food was amazing and the cocktails too. They have complementary valet, a plus since parking is crazy in the area. Our server was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations, was very attentive without being annoying. There were a lot of ppl around the bar when we arrived and the noise levels creeped up as the night went on but still a nice ambiance for a party of three. Oh and the dessert....DELICIOUS!!! I had the bread pudding....you gotta try it! I will surely be back....OFTEN :)
