had another wonderful meal here. Loved it. French Onion Ring!
Decided to check The Food Market out for a little more upscale date night, and was not disappointed! I would recommend making reservations ahead of time, as it did seem to get pretty crowded as the evening went on. The valet parking is very convenient as well, since it's never easy to find a parking spot in Hampden! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was quick.
Everything was delicious - we started out with the "big ole mozzarella sticks" (10/10 would recommend! they're a foot long each!). Second course consisted of the Baltimore Club and the Roasted Beef Short Rib. The club had both shrimp salad and a crab cake. I know us Marylanders are picky when it comes to these two things and we know what we like; The Food Market did not disappoint. And the short rib.... well, that dish was the highlight of the visit for sure! I absolutely love a good roast and this one tasted even better than ones I've had at home (sorry, mom!). For dessert, we chose the Vanilla Latte Creme Brulee topped with blackberries and a little coconut macaroon. Just scrumptious. We will definitely be back!
Food are very tasty
The Food Market's menu is brilliant, and its food reliably excellent. Sometimes we get full entrees and other times we get a combination of shareable smaller plates. The crab pot pie currently on the menu (with a wonderfully flaky puffed pastry crust) is superb. At less than $15, it is large enough to serve as an entree.
Fantastic food and service. The apps (small plates) are large
Soups fantastic, as well as entrees . Dessert needs work though.
Food was excellent. I had a creative and delicious vegetarian entree. I will be very strategic about a second visit during less busy times, because the tables were so close together. That detracts from my overall experience.
The brunch at Food Market was incredible. It took us so long to decide what to order, because so many things sounded enticing. Our server was very friendly and attentive - just the right amount of no-nonsense and fun conversation to give the perfect experience. I ended up with the avocado toast with smoked salmon and a poached egg with a bruleed grapefruit, and I was not disappointed. We had a reservation for 10am on a Saturday, and it was definitely a good choice - it was quiet when we walked in, but by the time we left around noon, it was packed.
Food and menu design is excellent. We had the scallops and steak....both fantastic and let very unique and memorable. Highly recommend
Absolutely amazing dinner. The beet salad and the brown sugar pork belly salad was delicious. I have never had a bad meal at the Food Market. It’s my favorite restaurant.
I made a reservation for my birthday, which also happened to be Easter. The host mentioned my birthday from the reservation, but no other mention of it was made which is fine. It was busy, but not crazy there and The Food Market is always busy so they should be used to dealing with it. We placed our order and got drinks with no issue. Then our dinners arrived after a decent wait. But we had ordered appetizers.... The waiter apologized, telling us he had forgotten to put them in and was very busy. Ok, it happens, both my husband and I have been servers, we know how it can be. Sucks for us, but ok. He asked if he could get me another glass of wine (I naively assumed on the house since he screwed up our order) but then had to come back 15 minutes later to ask what wine I had wanted again. After another long wait we finally got our apps after being at the restaurant for an hour. The food was fine, but not amazing. The half baked blondie dessert was burnt, not half baked. We were there for so long that we didn't have a chance to grab the after dinner drink we were hoping for before having to be back to relieve our sitter. Oh and when the bill came -- NOTHING was comped. I asked the waiter about it- we had to wait an hour for any food due to his mistake, it was my birthday, etc... He spoke with a manager and got a round of drinks taken off. Weird that wasn't just done in the first place. Won't be back.
They marked me as a no show to this reservation. Seemed to be a lot of confusion at the host desk with a possibly new host who was confused on how to greet guests, check reservations, assign tables, or get parties seated. No group ahead of us were welcomed or had an easy time either. Weird start to an otherwise great meal.
It was incredible!
We love the Food Market, but this was our first time having brunch there. We had a delicious Easter celebration. We were able to have some things our son always enjoys (pretzel sticks) and try some new things (heath bar pancakes, chicken and biscuit). My drink (Grace Slick mimosa) was also tasty! Can't wait to come back to one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore.
All around a Amazing!! Never disappoints!!
Excellent food in a nice neighborhood. Our waiter Jermaine was entertaining and attentive. Service was very good. It can be a loud environment; cozy seating made for some interesting banter with neighbors. I would go back again; price was right too! A shared app; two entrees; bottle of wine and shared dessert all for about $100. Compared to what we normally spend in high end restaurants this was a bargain!
We went out to celebrate selling our house and had a great meal, excellent service, and good ambiance.
Love this restaurant!!! Service and food awesome!!!!
We come here once a month or so. Food always great and a lively fun atmosphere.
Great eclectic food with flavor. Service was fast and friendly and informative.
As per usual the food was excellent, however, I think there was something going on with the staff because the one waiter looked like management and he wasn't a very good waiter. Not rude just...not committed I guess. Either way it's a great restaurant, I will be back and I would recommend. Last thought: the noise level can be a bit much. I'm particularly sensitive to loud noises so I'm not holding this against them and it could very well just be me as no one else seemed to be bothered.
Love this place, go there all the time!
The food and experience was so good that I am speechless!
My favorite restaurant hands down! Best brunch ever
Food never fails - OH SO GOOD!!! We couldn't decide on the apps so we got four (yes, just for the two of us...) - pretzels & cheese fondue, mozz sticks, beet salad, and buffalo fried pickels - all amazing.
The only disappointing thing is how they cram you in and squeeze the tables so close. You basically have to put your behind in your neighbors table/dish to get to your seat, and then it feels like you are practically dining together...
Food was delicious! We went for brunch. Instead of bread before our meal they gave us small fried doughnuts. Loved this place and will definitely go back
Good food but pricey. Seating is very close to other tables but that became a plus for us as we were having good conversations with strangers. Very noisy though which made it hard for my friend to participate in conversations because he has problems hearing when there is background noise.
Great food, good value, one of my favorite brunch places in Baltimore
I took my friend for a birthday lunch. Jermaine was hilarious and attentive. The food was fabulous, as always.
Great server, food and experience
We had a great time at brunch and the food was delicious. Only thing I'd say is ask for your extra butter and syrups when you order because it gets a little hectic.
My pick for the best brunch in Baltimore! Delicious food, attentive service and great open-kitchen atmosphere!
Nice vibe with attentive and efficient service. Relaxed environment with very pleasing aesthetics. Will definitely return.
The wait staff and food was OUTSTANDING! A little difficult to hear each other as the noise level is pretty high. The wait staff were attentive and provided recommendations when asked. LOVE half price wine night!!
Can’t wait to go again. Food was SO GOOD.
Good menu too. Only downside, noisy.
Had a fantastic dinner at The Food Market. We enjoyed the porterhouse lamp chop appetizer, and then had the duck and the short rib entrees. Ended with the half baked blondie with torched marshmallow. Everything was not just beautiful on the plates, but delicious as well.
The service was attentive and friendly. Can't wait to go back and try a few different plates.
Great place but loud. Also there were a few kids running up and down the aisles. We were there on a Saturday night so totally inappropriate (I don't have an issue with the kids being there but the behavior was rude) .
