one of my ultimate favorite places to go. expensive but worth every penny
I've dined at the Food Market several times in the past. I visited during 2019 Winter Restaurant Week during the weekend, therefore it was bustling inside. Our party of 5 was well serviced despite the crowd. My meal consisting of beet salad and cream of crab soup was delicious. There were lumps of crab in the soup and the consistency and taste were well balanced. The drinks were well crafted and delicious too. Overall, my party was very satisfied.
Everyone but me loved the food. I agree that what the others ordered was excellent. I ordered the eggplant gyro and found it at best bland. I did not like the way the eggplant was cooked. I believe that it was grilled. The cream of crab soup, and shrimp and grits were excellent, as was the cocktail that I had.
Has become our favorite spot. Food is phenomenal and have always had great service.
Amazing food and service! We have been on numerous occasions and are never disappointed! One of my faves hands down!
Two friends and I decided to check out the brunch at Food Market on a Saturday. SO glad we did!
There's plenty of space so you don't feel crowded, but it also feels intimate. Our server was super friendly and attentive without hovering. It was hard to choose a meal from a lush menu, but we all liked our eggy brunches a lot.
Once again, this classic cozy spot delivers, always surprising, always good.
I think the Hampden Food Market is very very good, just a smidge off of excellent, and perhaps bon another night it may be excellent. Our table was ready for us even though we were a few minutes late. Excellent table in the front window. Place was packed but didn't feel boxed in. Restaurant week, so they were super busy. Wait staff was good just perhaps a little overwhelmed, but still very good. Appetizers were interesting albeit small. Main course was excellent. And my dessert was excellent and I think the rest of the table was very satisfied. I would suggest using the valet for parking if you come on the weekend unless you know Hampden pretty well. I will definitely be back.
Food is always wonderful! Really great sever this time. I have had nothing but wonderful meals here and will continue to be a customer.
Food was great. Service was outstanding and waiter was patient and nice.
I ended up without childcare and had to take my toddler with me for dinner. The restaurant could not have been more welcoming of a toddler during a busy night on restaurant week. He ended up eating all of one of our entrees so we had to re-order midway through the meal and it wasn't a problem and they still kept the meal moving. Great experience!
The food was beyond compare. Our server was amazing. It was our 4th time there and it’s always been amazing but it’s like a fine wine!
Great food! Great service! Loud...be prepared is all I’m saying.
Good food, nice and welcoming staff
I used to really like the food market and the restaurant week menu but this time it was disappointing. The food was mediocre, it was really crowded in there and rushed and it just seemed like they wanted to make some quick money, turning over tables during restaurant week. The cocktail menu was fairly basic and the food was poorly executed. I had to search for my server for a while I order to ask for an additional sauce to add to my entree because it was dry and bland.
Menu was very limited and pricey for what it was. Service was slow. Restaurant was loud.
We are typically huge fans of The Food Market but didn’t find the entrees on the restaurant week menu held up to the traditionally great quality. The Turducken Salisbury Steak was really bland and flavorless — though the sides that came with it were great, and the barbecue bacon wrapped pork chop was smothered in so much sauce it was hard to taste the flavor of the meat. Would still come back, but probably just order from the standard menu.
The Food Market has been going downhill for the past couple of years. The food is average and seating very uncomfortable. This is the 3rd visit that we have been disappointed. It's off our list.
We had a Ladies Night here for Restaurant Week. All of the options were amazing, and I'm definitely going to have to come back to try some of the others with my husband!
Lucious and rich steamed mussels. Perfectly fried and tasty oysters. Fabulous rack of lamb with goat cheese mashed potatoes. Yummy. Our third visit and we will keep coming back!
What a wonderful surprise! Excellent food, unique drinks, casual yet stylish interior, great service! Highly recommend, and if I ever head back to Baltimore, I’d definitely go again!
Funky Hampden location. Good food but terrible seating. Chairs were extremely uncomfortable. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone with a bad back.
We would have ordered more things and hung out longer if it had been more comfy.
Food and service was good. However, we had to wait 25 minutes for our reservation. Busing the tables was painfully slow.
This was my first time going to the Food Market. We were seated immediately even though we arrived 20 minutes before our reservation. A waitress attended to us as soon as we were seated. She reviewed the menu with us and didn't rush us at all. Our food came quickly and was delicious. I had the beef short rib which tasted like Sunday dinner! Since it was a Saturday night, it was loud, but it wasn't overbearing or annoying. I highly recommend and will return!
Amazing as always!!!
4 friends for brunch. My food was fine but 2 people were served food that had grown cold; 1 sent hers back and replacement was only slightly better. On the plus side, the waiter comp’d her meal. And the noise level was low enough that 4 middle-age friends could carry on a conversation without shouting.
The food was great and so was our server ! Can’t wait to come back.
Great food, great service.
Wonderful to find a restaurant with that quality.
Awesome as usual, everything was great!
Just too darn loud!
All I have to say is I hope they keep the duck on the menu forever! Definitely worth the trip!
Lily, our bartender, was attentive and friendly, food came out quickly, was delicious, and a great value at Happy Hour! Will definitely return.
Amish pretzel rolls are awesome
Our waiter James was outstanding. We loved the food and it was a great place to celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends.
Food was good, not as good as expected per the reviews found and the price. However, our waitress was awesome and the service was excellent.
The seating was very close and it is definitely not the place for a quiet conversation.
New Year's Eve we had a party of 6, including 2 kiddos ages 1 & 3. Got there right at 5 to get the best (for the kids) seating. We had several of the little and small plates to share, including crab soup, poke de gallo, lobster boom boom, pork belly, mussels, street cauliflower (yummy, btw) and others. Each adult followed up with their own entree. Considering the range of dishes we tried, we agreed all were a success. Since both kids will eat most food, we did not request any dishes specifically geared toward kids so I cannot comment in that regard. The 3 year old especially enjoyed the cream of crab soup and bread but also had some steak, lamb and vegetables. We look forward to taking out of town guests here for the range and quality of the offerings.
Another wonderful dining experience at the Food Market. Date/birthday night with excellent service. Lovely food and yummy drinks. Looking forward to our next visit.
Delicious food! Really great atmosphere in a good location. A little loud for my taste but overall a fantastic experience.
The food was pretty incredible. We had the Monte Cristina, cream of crab soup, gingerbread pancakes with cranberry butter and of course mimosas. Nice spot, but very close quarters - you can barely sit down and chat with your mate.
