The Fishery Restaurant & Market is located just a few blocks from the ocean in North Pacific Beach.
The restaurant menu reflects ‘coastal cuisine’ with a simple yet serious focus on the best our coastal fisheries and local farms have to offer. The passion that drives Chef Mike Reidy is evidenced by flavors that can only be achieved using ingredients at their peak of seasonality and freshness.
The Fishery was awarded the prestigious Award of Excellence for its Wine List from Wine Spectator in 2018- Present. Our wine list is inspired by the great wines of Europe and their American counterparts and we strive to showcase real, natural, food friendly-wines with a sense of place.

    First off, the service is spot on! From excellent recommendations from apps to entrees, we could not have asked for better care. The food was amazing. We had the Scallop Crudo to start, and I was eating the remnants of the bowl with my spoon. The salmon dish was perfect all the way around. The pear sorbet and cinnamon ice cream with espresso martinis finished us off for the night. Cheers to the staff and the chefs!

    My partner and I absolutely loved our experience at The Fishery. We sat outside, which wouldn't have been so bad if there were more heat lamps - particularly, the standing ones vs. the overhead lamps. Our food was phenomenal. We had the scallop crudo, the calamari (best we've ever tasted), the sun chokes, and the fisherman's stew. We also had a couple of adult beverages that were very tasty, though I don't recall the names. Such a great date night! We will definitely come back whenever we visit San Diego again.

    Frankly,it was terrible. We had booked ahead and were willing to drive a ways to this restaurant, but we are from out of town. They would not seat us, even though I confirmed multiple times. Rude at check in. We finally sat outside. The server was nice, but had too many tables. it was cold, the food was so-so, too salty, and too expensive. The entries were small, no sides or starches, no bread service at the table. If you have a choice, go somewhere else!

    We had the smoked albacore dip, sunchokes, and the whole grouper (with an asian flare) -- all were fabulous and highly recommend. Don't think about; just go!!

    The food and service are both top notch. Excellent food impeccably prepared in thoughtful and creative ways, and presented beautifully. Every dish shone (and we tried a lot!), including the cocktails and desserts. The attention to detail here is impressive. The wine list is vast and comprehensive. The ambiance is pure San Diego: comfortable, unpretentious, casual. The service was wonderful: friendly, discrete, and attentive. My new favorite place!

    Always a great option in the rotation. Have never had a disappointing meal here. Looking forward to what the new head chef brings to the restaurant.

    Excellent food, amazing service from a great host and server, beautiful ambiance, and most of all....extraordinarily good food! We ordered the Halibut and lobster. I almost licked the plate! Haha! Great wine list too and the best Negroni cocktail in SD!! Make a resi asap!!

    The team is always willing to accommodate. We always enjoy outdoor seating but with unexpected rain they were able to accommodate indoor dining. They never seem to disappoint.

    The server was friendly but his timing was too slow. It wasn’t the kitchen’s fault bc the food came out fast. He just wasn’t sensing that we wanted to move along quicker. Also, I suggest doing pre-shift on the other closed end of the dining room if you have a table right next to the expo station.

    We were extremely impressed. When we first arrived things got off a bit on the wrong foot, but the manager/maitre d’ made it right immediately. The food was incredible - both extremely delicious and incredibly creative, they make genius food pairings that I would have never thought of but that are practically perfect. The setting is beautiful, the staff are very professional, and we will definitely tell everyone we know to try this spot.

    The server seemed to be distracted. Maybe upset about something. He should have stayed at home. Food was pretty good. Wines outrageously expensive and the 2 reds- Pinot noire from Slovenia and a Nebbiolo were weird. Not off but not pleasant. We’ll try again next year

    The Fishery serves consistently great, fresh seafood. We never had a bad experience here, however, we noticed overall menu prices have crept up alarmingly. I realize inflation impacts overall costs for everyone, but I am concerned some potential customers might be put off by over the top pricing eventually, which may force some to curtail their dining out frequency.

    We highly recommend this place. We had a really wonderful dinner. As always, service was outstanding and every dish and drink was great. Would give five stars except prices been raised and we were seated by a family with a baby even though there were plenty of empty tables elsewhere in the dining area. The family was considerate but noise and disruption are inevitable with a baby, and we would have preferred quieter seating.

    The food was everything the magazine Departures said it would be. Quiet little neighborhood area, with parking being a little difficult. The presentation of the food was done professionally and with style. Downside is the upsale, watch how you are asked questions (we paid for extra items that we didn't order). Also, there is an extra surcharge, which was not explained but this makes it not necessary to tip the wait staff. The surcharge is very generous. Other than the afore mentioned, enjoy.

    I usually don’t write bad reviews but this place really was a disappointment… we got the wrong order and told them about it and they were very unhappy with us, as if it was our fault. We then ordered something else that took about an hour to come. Manager came out and gave us an insincere apology. They ran out of a certain fish we ordered so brought out a different dish without even telling us. The calamari was seasoned well but extremely chewy and dry… my salmon was not even warm they cooked it with the skin on and it was soggy probably from sitting out for awhile. I wouldn’t recommend this place unfortunately…
