   I went with my family for lunch. It was very quiet and initially we were the only people there. We had to request the lunch deal (on the website) which is good value. unfortunately my meal was very delayed (I think it was left off the order) but was good when it came. Other food was also good. To compensate me I was not charged for my meal so I can forgive the transgression. They were also apologetic. Overall I would recommend the lunch deal which is good value.

   Hadn’t eaten here in a long time and I hear they’re shutting down in a few weeks. It was New Years Day so lack of atmosphere is forgivable, as I’ll assume most people were at home nursing a hangover; however lighting a couple of the open fires would’ve made the afternoon more warm and welcoming. The service we were given was brilliant and overall the food pretty good. I had blade of beef with honey roast parsnips etc and this was both tasty and plenty of it. Two fish cakes went down well and a fish and chips enjoyed by another of our party; the fifth member slightly disappointed with her chicken burger which could’ve been served hotter. As said, I understand this place will close temporarily soon and reopen under new ownership in the summer. I’ll pop back and check it out then

   I have been to the tavern many times and unfortinalty all the staff w days before xmas found they were out if a job, which is probably why the food was way under usual standard. The beg was hard, the xmas menu wasnt available (no one Informed us we had to pre order that) and the general atmosphere was quite flat. Real shame, hope all the staff managed to still have an ok xmas despite the news.

   The staff were genuinely friendly to our kids, 4 and 6, which set a great tone. Food was excellent, service slick. Best Sunday roast we’ve had in London.

   Strong service, great roast dinner and the cauliflower cheese ramekins was a lovely touch! Keep it up. It’s so hard to find pubs with good service and Sunday roasts!

    Very nice dining room with a traditional authentic feel, none of the hopster gastro pub. It would be perfect and a hot dpot if they served game
