The food was, as always, delicious. The service was unusually slow on this occasion.
Great food. Inventive menu, Great service. Loved Ruth maitre d/ manager.
Been twice now Loved it both times.
Good in every way. Recommend.
We live in the Kensal Rise area and have been to The Dock Kitchen several times over the years, usually for special occasions such as birthdays. It's an oasis of style and canal side escapism - a much needed antidote to the frenetic urban landscape surrounding it. People who enjoy design will get an extra kick out of identifying an array of Tom Dixon lights and home furnishings dotted about the dining area, and can treat themselves to a visit of the showroom below during the daytime.
The food can be quite experimental and frequently changes. We have had some excellent meals over the years, and some that seem to not quite work - but it's always interesting! This time we went for their very reasonably priced ten pound lunch menu. It was tasty, but if you want something more adventurous - eat a la carte.
It was the second time we had dinner at the dock kitchen. The food is always creative and very good, some very noce vegetarian options too. I had the bavette which is a typical and very tasty French cut, not easy to find in London. The chimichurri sauce was really nice and the staff was happy to bring some more. Love the flat bread that is served as appetiser. We could have a real conversation without having to shout at each other to cover the loud music or noise. Will definitely come back
We were there on a dark, rainy night, would love to return on a sunny day as the Dock Kitchen has a large deck overlooking the canal. Sleek, modern interior with open plan kitchen. Service professional. The lamb briyani was enjoyed by two fellow guests. I thought the fish expensive so had the vegetarian option. I think it will be a popular addition to this area.
Great place, great food, great wine and great service
Nice looking restaurant great location & ambience.
Food portions was large & we were unable to finish our meals.
Great service and friendly ambience. Would definitely come again. Such an interesting menu too! Already recommended to several friends!
A really excellent meal. It was our first time and we will go back. If driving there it can be hard to find even with satnav.
We love dock kitchen and go there a lot. I was a bit disappointed this time. The food was OK but usually it's great and the service was a bit distant. We will be back and hope for a better experience.
Food was excellent....
Service could do with concentrating a bit more.....long wait for waiting staff and it wasn't mega busy
I would still go again
Food excellent consistently good. Friendly efficient service. Gluten free no problem and value for money On a warm evening fabulous outdoor terrace
We are locals and have found the Dock to be patchy over the years - but perhaps this is part and parcel of having a constantly changing menu? The food on this occasion was excellent, however it was slow in terms of service - so you shouldn't book if you're right on time! The restaurant also suffers in the winter months from being under heated - but the staff are keen to offer up blankets to those in need! The interior is lovely - and kitted out with the wonderful Tom Dixon designed lights/tables/chairs etc to gaze upon! Don't forget to visit his shop below - set just below canal level. A jewel amongst the urban grime.
This place is probably nice for lunch in the summer. Otherwise, the dining room on a winter's night was ice cold and totally unpleasant.
Lovely lunch for birthday Good food and friendly service
After a recent lunchtime visit to DK with my wife where the food and service was excellent. I made this booking for our running club first birthday dinner. As we are a group of runners who through coincidence have creative backgrounds I knew they would appreciate the environment as much as the food.
The table was ready when we arrived and having phoned to check in advance, they happily received the birthday cake I had brought.
We had a large table right next to the open kitchen which all agreed was fantastic to see the chefs making everything from fresh.
The food was excellent and despite not knowing all of things on the menu our group was open to knew things ( the staff were very helpful here). And we were not disappointed. I personally really enjoyed the beef kofte and the lamb biryani.
The cake arrived complete with candles on a lovely serving plate. I hadn't brought candles - they added these on their own initiative and that made it even more special for us.
We finished the evening drinking and chatting at our table and despite the restaurant filling up during our visit. The staff always made us feel comfortable and didn't tell us we only had the table for a certain amount of time.
I would highly recommend eating here and actually everyone in our group said that they wanted to return with their partners.
Amazing food, friendly and perfect service, stunning location
Great menu / honest food - good service - completely underrated in my view
Roof terrace and decor
another excellent set menu meal at this striking and daring restaurant. the sri lankan menu left my mouth singing with aroma and warm spices, the highlight being the crispy lentil and prawn cakes and the rhubarb chutney served with the delicate fish curry. a request for the fish substitution was accommodated for graciously by the restaurant, and the staff are as warm and informative as ever.
the best bit to report, they have slightly scaled down their set menu offer from 4 to 3 courses, which was still huge and filling, and refreshingly the price has come down to a much more reasonable £35 instead of £45. well done dock kitchen, i look forward to the next culinary adventure!
the steak was excellent and the langustine starter was lovely. Pork neck was a tad dry and perhaps required a wee bit more seasoning. Freekeh was very tasty.
Ages ago but still a very nice place to have lunch or dinner. Specially on a nice sunny day. Very good portion size.
We went along to Dock Kitchen the other night to enjoy the Persian Tasting Menu...and we weren't disapointed. The food really is first class and was matched perfectly with carelfully chosen wine. The only negative is that my fiancee sat in a draft (without mentioning it) and it took a little of the shine out of the evening.
I ordered Madeleine for dessert . I got it with a small scoop of Vanilla icecream . After I finished the icecream and there was still left a bit of the bakery Madeleine , I asked the waitress if I can have a little more icecream. She brought me another scoop of icecream, but at the end they charged me 5 pounds for the extra icecream, which I did not expect or appreciate.
i cannot rate the dock kitchen's fixed menus highly enough. always an absolute feast and a discovery, with most dishes heavenly, with the very rare not perfect dish. 4 courses that will leave you so stuffed, yet so happy to have come, great relaxed yet always professional service. a monthly must for me!
We were picking some friends up in the area, and instead of going to the usual West End places, thought we would find something local. This seemed interesting, on the Canal, and it was a nice Summers day, thought we would see the boats going by, virtually dip our toes in the water, glass of chilled wine etc etc. it turned out that the outside space is sort of on the other side of the building, and although there is some water there, it was not quite the 'toes in water' experience - anyway - service was very good - Menu was interesting - had a Lebanese theme to it - portions a little on the little side, [I guess you are not suppose to have a healthy appetite anymore] but overall a very pleasant Saturday afternoon.
Very nice spot. The food is good but not amazing.
We had a very good time with my fiancé. The service was perfect.its a nice place for lunch or diner. The decoration is amazing , industrial / urban style.
I recommend this place
Great ambience, interesting concept where the menu changes regularly (daily if I am not wrong) with a few staples. Generally good quality. Bar is good too. Whats special is the setting of the restaurant with a canal by the side. The rooftop terrace is lovely too. The issue is that its not close to any tube station, so unless you are driving, its a bit of a walk to the restaurant
one of the best most innovative and tasty restaurants, the tasting menus never fail to deliver adventure and satisfying comfort in equal measure. the vietnamese menu was the best one ever, from the delicious taste bombs of pork stuffed wontons in pure and soothing broth as a starter to the doughnut dessert will stay in my mind for a long time. I don't know how they can master so many different cuisines, but they do, unfailingly.
Nothing can beat the variety and creativity of this neighbourhood gem, Thai fixed menu was great, and the a la carte had some tempting new dishes as well as the beloved biryani!
Dock Kitchen is fabulous to look at and the food is excellent. It is a little too expensive for regular visits but great for a special occasion.
Customers might be tempted to eat a fuller meal if the meal deal was a little cheaper.
We had an excellent set lunch at Dock Kitchen. The weather was good so we enjoyed their sunny veranda. The food was both interesting and excellent, with service from attentive and thoughtful staff. Despite opting for the lunch set, with wine and a few extras, the final bill was not cheap but very much worth it for a special treat.
This eclectic restau really is the most fun inventive place. Themed set menus are great, but the portion of dips for two was a little parsimonious shall we say! Great warm staff, some more clued up than others, and a great terrace to eat out on a glorious summer night.
An unusual menu and a good wine list make this a good al fresco venue.
W8 is usually outside of my usual place to dine out but on the suggestion of a friend we decided to try Dock Kitchen which is situated on the canal. We arrived before 7pm and the restaurant only opens at 7 so we had drinks on the outside deck. A very decent bottle of NZ sauvignon blanc it was as well (£35). We chose to have the Indonesian set menu for £45. Service was also very good and friendly. It was excellent! I would definitely go out of my way and go back!
an unchanging menu
mixtures of the orient with good english ingredients
is just great. Lots of friends eating there
Good attentive service
I want to go again soon as the food was very creative.
I recommended it
it is sometimes difficult to decide whether your enjoyment of an evening out is because of the food, the environment or the company. We had the Sri Lankan taster menu which was interesting and because I had never had this type of food before hard to say whether it was truly representative or well prepared. Overall the eating experience was OK but not exceptional. However, the ambience is nice and the service and welcome excellent. The Dock Kitchen is a bit hard to find if you are unfamiliar with the area and the website (with google street view) does not help. Quite expensive for what it was.
