Amazing food and service. Try the oyster shot!
We loved our experience at the Darling Oyster Bar! The food was fantastic! Our waitress was very knowledgeable on all the options and was very sweet! I would definitely recommend to anyone!
Dan was a 5 star server.
One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston! Great seafood and such a great vibe! And if you like oyster shooters, theirs are amazing!
This was our second visit to The Darling Oyster Bar. The service was great, cocktails perfect, (night riot & the darling fashion) we had oysters, hush puppies, the creole shrimp and the Lobster/crab roll.
We were very happy with our experience, and will be back.
They closed for
Scheduled our reservation ahead of time and chose the 1 spot that was available on Fathers Day. it was early so had to leave the beach early to dress and get there. When we arrived the restaurant was closed due to COVID-19. That is fine except for the fact that I received a text the day before confirming our reservation.... we are from out of town so had to scramble to find somewhere else nice to eat to celebrate.
They were closed and failed to let us know
The food was outstanding! One of the best restaurants in Charleston. My group of six ordered several small plates of food to share. The clam strips and creole shrimp were the two best dishes. The only disappointment was the peach cobbler. It was so bitter we couldn’t even eat it, our server said that others were also commenting on the off taste.
Great dinner. Perfect execution of ceviche. Scollop main was perfect.
What a fun place. Food, especially the oysters, and drinks were fabulous and our server was first rate!
Great from the hostess to the server to the manager, best seafood I have had in a long time, will definitely go back next time I'm in Charleston
The food was fantastic as always, especially the oysters. Great place to eat and socialize.
Obviously the oysters are great, but my new favorite dish is the Lobster and Crab roll...amazing!
Great spot in downtown Charleston. Service & food were top shelf. Great awareness of Co-vid 19 protocol - tables were spread out well, servers all wearing masks
Outstanding Sunday Brunch!!!
Most delicious food we have ever had. The crab cakes are unreal.
The Darling hosted my group for a bachelorette party dinner. The staff were so accommodating and sweet and offered to set up decorations for the table which I dropped off prior to our reservation.
Everything our group ordered was amazing. I definitely recommend ordering a bunch of entrees to share so everyone can get a taste!
You MUST try the Peach and Tomato Toast as well as the Blue Crab Tagliatelle- they were a HUGE hit!
Thanks again, The Darling- we will be back!!
Loved everything about our experience... will definitely recommend to others and hopefully return someday. Appreciate all of the thoughts details. Beautiful , fresh and delicious, and excellent southern hospitality.
Great spot for a birthday dinner!
Went to the darling post reopening. What a fabulous experience dinging again! Food was fantastic and service was great.
The food is great service excellent we were on our first anniversary date married may 25th and if was the right restaurant for the date.
Good times 😉
Service and food was excellent.
We were so excited to try this place, but unfortunately we were let down. Let me start with what was good; the service, the cocktails, the oysters and the fries were delicious. However, the clams tasted rank, the ceviche was weird, the crab legs were salty and the lobster roll tasted under cooked.
Thank you Amanda for writing in with your comments. We take reviews such as this very seriously so we can improve upon our overall customer experience. I will talk to my kitchen team about the issues raised in your review and we will try to improve on these in the future. Thanks again.
This place is one of our favorite Charleston restaurants. My wife is a huge oyster fan, and this is one of the top oyster restaurants in Charleston. I don’t eat oysters, but love all the other options available to me. We love to sit up front at the “oyster” bar, and people watch everyone that is walking up and down King Street. This place is simply awesome!
Food was delicious except key lime pie which was bitter.
We had oyster appetizers, then three of us shared the fried chicken and shrimp & grits. Everything was marvelous. We sat at the oyster bar - great spot for people watching on King street
Of the many restaurants we dined at in Charleston, Darling was my least favorite. The menu was too short, the seating area felt like an afterthought-we weren’t far from the front door. While food was good, I wouldn’t go back.
Being new to Charleston this has quickly become one of our favorites. Fair priced and high quality oysters. Great ceviche! Great lobster rolls! I good choice when in Charleston!
Super cute restaurant!! The food was amazing, really good vibe.
Food this time was not as expected. We’ve dined here before and it has been spectacular. Crab was dry, Oyster selection was not to par, it was I guess not a great visit. Perhaps it was a busy Friday evening- but I expect the quality to be great at all times.
We were on vacation in Charleston right before the nation closed down before Covid19, and our thing happens to be oysters ever since we were to New Orleans last year as a couple. We have to say the oysters were good! Loved the decor of the main dining room, we didn’t get a chance to sit in there. When we come back to Charleston, we will be sure to visit again!
Amazing! A must stop spot! Everything from
The service to the presentation and food was absolutely fabulous! Can’t wait to go back!
Our experience was superb as always. Our food came out fast and fresh. The server checked with us frequently. We look forward to our next drive from Columbia to eat oysters here
Horrible service. I went dining with my other half and our server was homophobic and clearly did not want to serve us. Had the hostess not told us his name we would have never known it was Edmund. We were expecting a high class esteemed establishment for the cost, but were severely disappointed. Server would not speak to us, ignored us, we were not even able to order in a timely fashion. He refused to attend to us, would not answer any questions, however the groups beside us received much better treatment from him.
Would not recommend, especially for the price. The food was alright, would much rather take our patronage else where so my partner and I get treated like human beings. In fact, we went to the peace pie after next door and received significantly better treatment, I suppose that happens when someone speaks more than 5 words to you.
Service was attentive and friendly. The Creole Shrimp was a little too salty. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, otherwise. I don’t believe my serving had any rice. Kind of odd. The clam chowder was a thin cream soup with few clams.
Visiting Charleston on business, Darling’scame highly recommended... and did not disappoint!
We had a fantastic evening. Not sure what was better, the food or our darling server who was probably one of the coolest servers we've ever had. She couldn't have been anymore full of life! In terms of the food, wow on the oysters but even more wow on the claim strips. Seriously amazing. We loved our evening at Darling!
The oysters were delicious, and came very quickly. We ordered two appetizers, shrimp creole and crab cakes, and both were tasty, but lukewarm. Then we wanted to order more, but our waitress was so busy we just decided to forget it. It was very loud.
