Could not have had a better place for a valentines day date!
Great food. Can get loud at peak times but service is excellent.
The Cottage is the best restaurant in the area. Simple as that.
Food did not disappoint. Quaint environment.
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at the Cottage. We were celebrating our anniversary and it was fun to sit and watch the Kitchen staff do their choreographed dance of cooking, pacing meals and keeping up with the demands of a Saturday night. It was completely mesmerizing. As I told my husband walking to our car, I simply can’t remember the last time I had a meal that was so yummy, satisfying and surprising. The last meal was a few years ago at Eleven Madison. We couldn’t believe this was our first meal at the cottage and we can’t wait to go back! Thanks so very much!
This is our favorite place in town and we’ve never had a bad meal there till the other night. Menu was very limited, not what is listed online, the food was so over salted. Big disappointment but will always give it another try bc it’s always been great. Btw, heard this from others that it has not been consistently good. Too bad bc it’s a gem.
I’ve never been disappointed when dining at The Cottage. Typically, I like to dine at the bar and table service is great if I have more guests. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the food menu is eclectic and delicious. The Cottage is definitely one of my favorite go-to places in Westport.
Beautifully presented food in a intimate yet inviting setting. Service was perfect! Stand out menu items include the tagliatelle, the sundae dessert, and the cod. Will be back!
We went for my wifes birthday and everything was outstanding. Food was excellent and it was an overall fantastic meal!!
Unfortunately our experience was lacking. Expensive & slow service...our entrees took awhile to arrive & were cold. Disappointing.
The food is creative and delicious. The cod was perfect; lobster pasta delicious; incredible appetizers. After dining in Westport for 30 years, I believe this is the best restaurant in Westport.
Amamxing staff and NYC quality. Best restaurant in CT
We really enjoyed our experience at the Cottage. The food was very good, the atmosphere was charming and the service was excellent. The only drawback was how close the tables were to each other. Other than that, we had a delightful evening.
Inventive, fresh food for brunch. Leisurely pace.. depending on where you sit it can be noisy
The Cottage never disappoints.
Inventive cuisine, graciously served. The ambiance is cozy, yet vibrant.
We had bacon and eggs as a starter, served in precisely opened egg shells...delicious.
Love this place, I want to go there every night for dinner.
Reservations We booked in advance, and we’re very excited to have dinner here. The restaurant is very cozy, clean, and felt very professional. The room, unfortunately, is tiny, and as a bigger guy, I bumped into the table next to us, trying to get to my seat. Also, the lights were very dark, and the music was loud. I notice a lot of people within other iPhones to read the menu. Another thing I notice is or appetizers did not come out at the same time and unfortunately wasn’t even close. The food was amazing and worth the wait. I did note on OpenTable it was already anniversary dinner, and they did make it a point to read the note and surprise my wife when dessert came out with a candle. I think the restaurant is excellent; it’s a little bit of a tight fit and a little dark and look forward to going back.
Subpar experience. I’d been once before and couldn’t wait to go back. I decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner and what a regret.
The manager and our server were very kind, but there was no coming back from this mess which likely stemmed from the kitchen.
From the moment we got seated, it probably took about 20 minutes to place our order. We ordered 4 appetizers:
-Blue Cheese Toastie
It took over 45 minutes just to get the deviled eggs and sashimi— two items that are served cold!
Another 45 minutes go by, and we receive our second two apps, blue cheese toastie and wagyu baos. The kimchi to the wagyu baos had zero flavor which was disappointing. When our server brought these apps, he did apologize for how long everything took and said he was firing the ticket for our entrees in the kitchen immediately.
Another 20 minutes or so, and we get our mains.
-Kabocha Squash Agnolotti
Both were barely warm at best, nowhere close to hot.
The agnolotti pasta dough and filling was mush— it literally looked like a ball of burrata. There was nothing that resembled raviolis. The lobster spaghetti was cut up into small pieces, it looked like the pasta from a Lipton’s noodle soup mix. At this point we didn’t want to send them back since everything took so long. We were there for 2.5 hours and just wanted to leave. It was extreme loud and we had trouble hearing each other speak.
Sadly it was not the birthday dinner I had envisioned and a very long night.
Good times great value!
great food as always. I find he menu a little limiting, so may not rush back for a bit. Music was interesting - Zeppelin kind a loud when I walked in. ALl that said, the Cottage is my favorite restaurant in FF COunty - hands down!
It was our first time at “The Cottage” and it is our new favorite restaurant! We live in Westport and can’t believe we haven’t gone their sooner. The food was outstanding , creative and delicious, only using the very freshest and finest ingredients! We also loved their music choice playing in the background. Our only small complaint was we sat in the room where the bar was which was a bit louder then we would gave preferred and more cramped with guests hovering at the bar which was right next to our table. That said the bar and bar co tail menu are great !! For next time we will definitely request the main dining room. The service e was also perfect ! Thank you The Cottage for a wonderful evening and making a birthday celebration more special !
Always hits on all points. This is one of the consistently best restaurants in the region.
Every meal I've ever had here has been nothing short of excellent — especially love how they prepare vegetables and seafood.
The cottage was great. The food was really tasty. We had the foie gras, deviled eggs, chestnut soup and we shared the prime rib. They were all very good and the prime rib came out perfectly. We had a great waiter, he suggested a wine for a pairing with the prime rib (Nebbiolo) which was perfect! We'll be back :)
Food was delicious, however, the entree was petit and probably a luncheon size!
always the best of the best
This was our 3rd visit in two years. (We live about 1/2 hour away from the restaurant.) The food was again delicious. Our server, who was lovely, professional and helpful, warned us that we were over ordering, which we decided to do anyway. The foie gras was great as was the tuna tataki. My husband loved the deviled eggs and I thought the do-it-yourself steamed pork bun was terrific. The one dish which was only good, not fabulous, was the pasta with truffles - too rich and it could have used more flavor. The chocolate and peanut butter sundae was really good and weirdly addictive. Looking around, all of the tables that ordered it finished every last bit in the bowl. We did end up bringing our last dish, a hamburger, home as leftovers. We warmed it (and the fries) the next night. It was truly one of the best hamburgers my husband and I have ever had. I can’t wait to go back to the Cottage again!
I love the way The Cottage innovates, rather than serving the same old combinations and dishes. All the ingredients seem to be extra fresh and of good quality. Tables are very close, but the ambience is friendly, Service is always accommodating and pleasant. There are two rooms to the restaurant; one contains a long bar, which is where the seat people when they are crowded. They're usually crowded, so I recommend reservations. And, BTW, their portions are large. And their coffee is great.
Full house Saturday night before Christmas. Another return visit and the food is consistently excellent and the service top-notch. The restaurant really has its act together and everyone there knows what to do and how to do it. Never felt rushed or ignored.
Appetizers were perfect: Deviled eggs and Wagyu brisket steamed buns. Mains were salmon (among the two or three best we’ve had) and the lobster spaghetti. Both were outstanding.
A top 3 restaurant in Connecticut.
Consistently outstanding food and service. Worth a special trip. But get there early or late if you want to have a conversation.
Excellent food, great service! Wines by the glass are expensive. I was expecting there to be more than 3 sips in my glass! I will definitely be coming back!
Love this restaurant. Food is always wonderful. A bit noisy but will return due to excellent food and service.
We had an incredible experience!
Exceptional food and service. Cottage never disappoints. Everyone involved in this restaurant is a pro. Highly recommend!
We had an early dinner so not much going on when we arrived. The staff was friendly and engaging and we tried several appetizers- all excellent. Limited menu but found several great selections from with to choose. Really fresh and well prepared A+.
Great food experience - portions were a little unbalances so my partner got a little food and I got a lot. Drinks were a little sweet for my taste. Service
I get ambience...no really I do! But not being able to read a menu, except by the light on your phone, is absurd. The food at best...mediocre. No salads, no chicken dish, no specials. The portions are silly small. The waitress: no humor, no energy, no interest. Bluntly, the four of us were in and out in 76 minutes and even that was too long.
You won't find food that is more inventive AND delicious. The agniolloti was amazing.
We went to the Cottage for my parents wedding anniversary- the staff was very welcoming and kind. We got free champagne! The menu does not have too much variety but I would still recommend going here.
Such a special place. Always must get the squash & sage pasta. Out of this world.
We were there for brunch. The service was excellent: friendly and attentive to just the right degree. We both had the lobster eggs Benedict. It was delicious, with a sauce slightly different from classic hollandaise, and better. When our plates arrived, we both found that the eggs were over-cooked. Our server did not have to be asked to return them to the kitchen for new eggs. They were perfect on the second try. My husband loved his blueberry pisco cocktail. As a wine geek, the wine by the glass selection weighs heavily in my opinion of any restaurant. The Cottage did not disappoint on that score. Their selection is comprehensive and very well chosen, IMO.
I look forward to returning to further explore the menu, including the wine by the bottle list.
