The Copper Hen is my favorite spot for lunch after enjoying an "Inspired by Books" tour at the nearby art institute. The food is inventive; the service is attentive, and the menu always has plenty of options to suit my taste. My only problem not having room for a dessert after cleaning my plate.
It was a super busy Sunday. They were down a cook. Experience reflected those circumstances.
The interior is cozy and hip at the same time. The servers were all enthusiastic without being in your face and the menu was full of delicious items that made it hard to choose. I loved the twists on the originals like the Croque Madame B.E.L.T and the bread/bakery items are stellar!
Booked on Open Table gave option for a special-bubbly with event-we were celebrating my birthday and was never offered the special item?
Enjoyed Copper Hen very much! Fun, relaxing and love the decor! The food is yummy and fresh. It’s kind homey yet fancy at the same time. The desserts are awesome and you want to take them all home with you. It had been a while since we ate there and was not disappointed one bit! Definitely will be back and not wait so long next time.
The food wasn't very good. From poorly prepared (burnt potatoes, eggs overcooked and rubbery where they weren't undercooked and runny, broken, curdled sauces) to tasteless pancakes and bland bacon, the only noteworthy thing was a very nice glass of milk. Lovely to look at but stacked with tables in every available space. Noise level was outrageous. At least it was cheap. With all the options available in the area, we won't bother with this spot again.
Great food, great service. Copper Hen is a great brunch destination. The biscuits and gravy could use a little more sausage gravy, but delicious nonetheless. Would order again. Don't stop in without having a cinnamon roll - heated up, of course.
Very good food. Great cocktails. Service staff was very friendly.and Knowledgeable. Atmosphere is fun and enjoyable. Very good overall experience.
Even with parking lot shared across the street must navigate a space. Overall good food and fine environment.
Good brunch, just a bummer multiple entrees weren’t available.
Great environment and Good Food Services prompts restaurant was clean and had a Very nice ambience. Menu offerings all look great and it was a struggle to choose which one I was going to have. I enjoyed the croque madame BLT everything about it was great the highlight of the meal for everyone was the breakfast potatoes with creme fraiche. Also some of the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had in a restaurant. I had stopped ordering them. YouTube restaurants continually letting me down but these biscuits and gravy did not disappoint.
Great FOH staff accommodated for a baby in stroller. The waitress was very attentive and made great suggestions. The food was very good
Food we ordered was fresh, but bit dry. Even the bread basket was like it had been sitting out for a while.
We went there to celebrate a big event in my life and I had wanted to go to the Copper Hen for years. We ordered a drink and an appetizer and waited for 20-25 minute for a pretzel! Our order had not even been taken yet so we told them that we wanted to leave and they comped my drink at least. Our waiter had a table of 20+ people and then was given 3 more tables. That is NOT what you do to a server! I did not even waste the time trying the cupcakes I had drooled over for years since we had not had dinner yet. Very sad for me :(
By far me and my wife’s favorite lunch, dinner, and dessert on date night. The service is informative and pleasant to speak with, we will be back again and again!
Food was overpriced given the mediocre quality and taste. I have a feeling they made a killing for Valentine's fleecing all the couples going out on a dinner date with their set price/set menu that night. Most of the food was in very small portions and even if the ingredients were high quality the way the food was prepared made it all taste of poor quality. Watery mushroom soup, bitter beet and other root vegetables, basically no use of fats, salts or starches in the entire meal, even the braised short rib was only a third of a portion size (given the price they should have at least include the whole short rib piece. We left hungry at the end of the night). Only good things was the ambiance, dessert and drinks. Drinks are pretty strong which I'm guessing they do to make sure you don't pay attention to the food. There are definitely other places to eat in the Twin Cities of better quality for the price and some for even less of the price.
This is not our first time at this restaurant. We love this spot for breakfast and brunch. the pastries are beautiful and always deliver. We thought it would be a fun spot for a prefix Valentines dinner. However it was hands-down the worst I’ve ever had. The portions were incredibly small, the food was lukewarm at best and nothing was particularly tasty except for the desserts. It felt like the restaurant wasn’t prepared for the large volume of people and dishes. Everything looked and tasted like it was made days before and barely heated up. I was so disappointed. I’m also vegetarian and I told the restaurant I wanted the veg option when I made the reservation, and when we arrived. They said they had veg Alternatives. As it turned out they only had 2 vegetarian substitutes for a 5 course menu and it was a combination of two other dishes that I already had. I think the worst part was at the portions were just so painfully small. For $60 a person we could’ve gone to a restaurant and gotten an entree, salad and a glass of wine each. We left hungry after expensive bill and a very long wait in between dishes. We ended up getting pizza because it was that disappointing of a dinner. Go for breakfast and the pastries, but skip dinner.
Short ribs were cold. dry and over cooked. I’m more than willing to pay $100/person or more for dinner. But not for that menu or quality of food. Average at best.
Overpriced, way small portions and the food was overcooked.
The food was delicious and different from any restaurant we’ve been to. Drinks were amazing, unique and beautiful presentation. The atmosphere was chill with good music playing. Also, the ambiance is beautiful- rustic, pretty wallpaper mixed in with brick, big wooden sliding doors, cool bar, etc. Nice place to be at and will definitely keep going back. They have some other restaurants too- copper cow and also, grey fox coffee. Must go places in MPLS!
What an incredible Valentine’s Day dinner. Lovely chic casual atmosphere. Friendly staff. Fantastic 5 course dinner with wine pairings. The best b
our server (Nick) was excellent. the food was very good. the temp in the room was a little cool, but we sat by a brick wall. next time we will sit toward the middle. we will certainly return to this restaurant. My wife loved her food and "when Mama is happy, everybody is happy."
Fantastic! Loved the bottomless mimosas. Server was great.
The food was delicious, service was great but you could barely hear yourself think. Wish you could improve the acoustics!
Nice setting. Food was fine.
Love this place!
The space is beautiful and the service is very good but given the menu prices and what I've read, I expected the food to be better. In my opinion, it was just average. My partner was happy with his Croque Madam and potatoes and was my teenage daughter with her French toast and bacon. The Farmer's Brunch that I ordered was again, just average. The French toast and bacon were good, but the vegetable hash was mediocre at best, and the scrambled eggs were massively under seasoned. I initially ordered the Crabby Toast but at 1:00 in the afternoon during Sunday brunch, they were out of crab cakes. We'll give Copper Hen another try sometime. Perhaps for dinner instead of brunch when they are insanely busy. Based on our meal last Sunday however, I'd recommend other places over Copper Hen.
Perfect brunch spot for birthdays! The bubbly and cupcake was an added bonus!
Sister's birthday celebration.
Service was sub-par. Waited 50-60 mins for appetizers. Server was extremely slow, beyond what's reasonable.
Salmon on the salad came out raw on the inside.
7 oz steak was undercooked and cold, so tough it couldn't be chewed.
Literally the cupcake was the only positive note.
I've been to Copper Hen 4 times prior to this, and enjoyed every time.
This 5th time was so horrible I'll never return. Or recommend to others.
Great! Finding parking was nerve wracking, but overall great.
Never fails to impress!
Food was great, service was subpar. Our server only came back to drop off the check once our food was delivered.
Went for brunch with friends. Great food. Fun atmosphere.
Food was bland and overcooked.
We went here for brunch and it exceeded our expectations. The bottomless mimosas were delicious and dangerously strong. We had the benedict and the BELT and got a french toast to split so we could try it (worth it!) and it was enough food for at least two meals and everything was cooked to perfection. I recommend this place highly for brunch! The only downside is that it is on the expensive side, but the ambience and the service make it worth it.
Great selection of gluten free items! It's hard to find a GF eggs benedict and theirs was amazing!
Our eggs were served cold and my husband found eggshells in his sandwich.
Such a cute spot. My breakfast potatoes (along with a few other orders at our table) were pretty burnt, but the remaining food we ordered was great. Our server was kind and timely. We did get seated near the door which was very chilly, but otherwise we love this place!
