WELCOME TO THE CLOG AND BILLYCOCK

The Clog and Billycock has been part of Pleasington"s history for over 150 years. A place of fond memories, laughter and life. Pleasington, is one of the most picturesque parts of a beautiful area. So, like every real Lancashire village, it needs a pub full of Lancashire tradition.

This is the third Ribble Valley Inn pub and like it's stable mates, The Clog and Billycock is steeped in all the history you might expect of a rural treasure. Originally known as the Bay Horse Inn, clogs and the billycock were the favourite attire of a landlord who took over in the early 20th century... and somehow the idea stuck.

Menus inspired by Nigel Haworth using only the freshest ingredients harvested by our local food heroes. Enjoy regional Cask Ales and an award winning wine list specially chosen by leading wine expert, Craig Bancroft. All of this in a wonderfully relaxing environment for eating out.

I've been going to the RVI chain since they first opened and this is the first time I've been disappointed with the food and service. We went on Sunday of bank holiday so I booked a table , on arriving we were taken to a table with 2 chairs .. 4 of us dined .. even though there were lots of other tables available , this was only a minor inconvenience , but then of the standard menu items we chose 3 were not available . One of the orders was large fish and chips ..the fish that came was not large , when we gave feedback about this , the reply was that it depends on the size of the fish . The reason for standard items not being available was they had problems with gas , but one of the items was cheesecake . All in all I was disappointed with the food and when I gave this feedback to the manager his attitude appeared dismissive and it was clear he didn't want to discuss this further as he carried on cleaning glasses behind the bar even though there were no customers waiting to be served . We'll be off to Otter and Oyster next time

Very disappointed. We are regular visitors to this restaurant and did not get the same service or food on this occasion. I regularly have the usually excellent fish pie , this pie was about half its usual size and a side order of broccoli was thrown in to make it look bigger, it didnt fool me! Also we sat for 20 mins without anyone removing our finished mains plates and offering dessert. Eventually we got up and went to pay. On informing the waitress who took our money that we appeared to have been forgotten for desserts, dhe didnt even respond and just tookour money. Outside we spoke to the manager. He offered us drinks next time we visit, how on earth will he remember us without making a note of our name etc. Bad service.

Had a good meal here - lovely (if a bit too big!) steak and ale pies with nice pastry (not disintegrating puff!). Love the little touches like a little nibble of cake with coffee - our first port of call for reliably good food. Also makes a difference being able book easily online. Staff seem to be young and keen to do a good job....
