Table wasn’t as expected- we were seated across from the kitchen. The food took forever to come. The seafood pan roast was minimally warm- the first bite, the oyster was actually cold. Waiter wasn’t knowledgeable and made us feel rushed. Taking the plate as soon as we finished the last bite, and asking my fiancé if she wanted the bill when I left for the washroom for a single minute, and saying he wasn’t sure if the restaurant accepts Amex. Personally feel there are better restaurants at the same price that one can enjoy for a sophisticated night out.
Amazing service , amazing food!
By far one of the best meals we've had in the city. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Service was great drinks were great and the food was a whole different experience!
Waited for 40 min though we made a reservation. Other than that, food was great and waiters were very nice.
Beautiful spot for business meetings and drinks. Food was very tasty and presentable!
Excellent service and the food was excellent. The wine prices are ridiculous. That is why we do not go more often.
Really food ambience. Really good food. But man they really gotta work out their service issues
Wonderful experience, thank you!
It’s was amazing!!!
It was my birthday and our server went above and beyond any expectation that I had. I believe his name was branden? He was exceptional. Honestly the word exceptional doesn’t do him justice. Thank you to him and The Chase for making my birthday so special. Also!! Thanks for the card.
Far too expensive for the dinning experience and expected to be on first floor, which has a different menu.
Everything was great. The only thing upsetting was when the wine we ordered was out of stock. The wine list wasn’t marked as such and an attempt was made at selling us a higher priced wine on the list, making it look like a bait and switch. When I made it clear that this approach wasn’t acceptable, the wine was offered at the same price as what was ordered which is what should have been done in the first place.
Great ambiance and decor. Service was average. Starters were tasty but mains (venison, scallops, cod) were mediocre at best. Dessert (chocolate) was fantastic.
The Chase has the worst sommelier I have ever come across.
I was downtown for a conference and thought we’d try out this restaurant . We ordered the small seafood platter which cost $75. It came in a small platter with only 4 oysters, 2 crab claws, 2 shrimps, 2 Ahi tuna and 2 snapper slices. We have been to many of the top restaurants in TO and this platter is way overpriced compared to one we had at Buca Yorkville.
The beef tartare was average. We ordered another shrimp cocktail which was also average; $28 for 4 medium shrimps. My wife had the Arctic Char which was nicely done. I had the Pan Roast which is just half a lobster with mussels and tiny little shrimps and some pieces of fish.
This was bland if not for the soupy sauce that they put in after. We had a bottle of Ramsay 2016 Cab which cost $105. I later did a search on Wine Search and it cost $18.
The markup is ridiculously high. Most high end restaurants
Have a markup of 3 to 4 times. This is almost 6 times.
The best part of the evening is the service. I think this restaurant is too much hype and no substance. The price is excessive compared to most fine dining restaurants.
I think Blu, Buca and Cafe Boulud are better in terms of food and value. We will not go back.
Our starter and mains arrived cold - while our sides were hot. The server was overwhelmed with more tables than it seemed she could handle, so was always rushing off. Several times we had to call after her to add items to our order or ask her for something. The wine selection was excellent - it would be nice to see an optional Vegan/Vegetarian menu - such as many downtown restaurants now offer. The food was beautifully plated, but the lackluster service was disappointing as compared to other high end restaurants in the downtown core - would like to see the service standard raised to the same level as Kasa Moto or Planta.
Food was good! Service was terrible
Outstanding service and ambience, food was too salty especially all the main dishes - cod, pan roast and lobster
The food is amazing! I went here for a birthday and they wrote a private birthday card for me. Made everything very special.
The food was INCREDIBLE! Also our server, Chelsea was outstanding. Everyone was nice and friendly.
The food was simply amazing and the service was spectacular. 5 star food no doubt about it.
New Year’s Eve
Lots of fun.
Great food and good staff
Absolutely awful, food was cold the service was slow and confused they took forever to come out with it, it was New Year’s Eve I get that but awful set menu with too many mixes of foods that was almost poison, usually love the restaurants in this city but for the first time me and my girlfriend got to admit that this was by far the worst restaurant we’ve been too. Do not recommend. The chase being a high rated restaurant you’d expect more out of it like a better pre fixed menu, and service. We asked for oysters and we didn’t get them while the people next to us did, lol makes no sense but that’s just the way it goes on down at the chase!
Unfortunately, the Chase called to confirm reservation did not mention no regular dining menu. A bit disappointed the night to my family.
Some aspects well-delivered (e.g. staff responsive and informed, service well-executed) and stumbles in other areas (e.g. had to reserve online but restaurant entirely empty, entree wildly over-seasoned...edible, if not enjoyable); overall a fair to middling experience.
Have loved this restaurant in the past ...but the Christmas rush overwhelmed them . An unmitigated disaster
VERY noisy place last night. Not clear why but extremely hard to have a conversation. The food and service were excellent but not much fun to eat it without much conversation.
I took some clients there for dinner and was thoroughly impressed. It was a little louder than I expected, but we adjusted out own volume to ensure we could hear one another.
We started with the Avocado and Mushroom Flatbread as appetizers. Both were very good. Fresh ingredients made all the difference in taste.
Everyone ordered something different, and no one was disappointed. I ordered the Cavatelli, which was a pasta dish that included lobster from Nova Scotia. It was delicious! It had plenty of lobster meat to accompany the pasta...and the sauce...yum!
In closing, I failed to mention the cocktail menu. It was very diverse and fantastic! I would recommend this place to those looking for a great place downtown that has great views. I will definitely be back!
I made the reservation for a table, to my surprise I was only seated at the bar and was not provided with a table. The attendant apologized but did not provide the reason to why even though I had the reservation I was not seated at the table. It was a business lunch with an important client and because of unprofessional service at The Chase I was very disappointed. I chose The Chase for a reason being high quality service however it did not meet any of my expectations. This is not the first time I am dining at The Chase but this is unacceptable
Service slow and two people in our party didn’t receive their meals. Either it wasn’t ordered or it wasn’t prepared by the kitchen. Food quality is outstanding
The rose i ordered came completely warm, it was gross! The table was awful and the place was loud! Wouldn’t go back for the overpriced meal any day.
Ordered the Scallops, they were tiny (3 of them ); I understand this is lunch, but many customers like me may expect larger scallops at a seafood restaurant. Taste was okay nothing special; the other items on our party of seven seems to be better, based on feedback I received.
Courtney and Annie make the Chase an incredible dining experience while Marie-Claire finds hidden gems in the wine cellar. The food is impeccable, fresh, and presented with finesse. The management team is constantly catering to every need and provides an exceptional VIP experience. Go for the Halibut for 2 and the Ribeye - you won’t be disappointed.
As soon as you enter you know the staff has been well trained paying attention to any requests and ensuring we are given top notch service. The menu is simple but has just the right amount of information to make menu decisions. Our server was extremely helpful both by way of making recommendations and by ensuring our order was to perfection. Amazing food with superb service.
Disappointed on our second try. Started out great with calm atmosphere, great cocktails and great service. And then it all went down from there. All food was served late and luke warm - like the food had been sitting - had to send one dish back as it was un-edible and taken off our bill. Rarely do we ever say anything but this was too much. As the night progressed we cut our night short due to the noise which left a damper on our expectations especially when you are hitting $150-$175 pp. We had the same experience our third time at their other location Planta.
Wow! Food, service, decor...top notch. We loved it and will return.
Waited 40 minutes for our table. Had to leave to catch an event. Ruined our evening
I booked The Chase but when I got to the restaurant we were told that the restaurant wasn’t available. We were given a table in its sister restaurant downstairs. If the restaurant wasn’t available then DO NOT accept the reservation.
