   The menu and cooking are creative and assured. The changing menu means there is great use of seasonal produce. The wine list is well chosen to offer value and quality without leaning on the higher priced 'standard' wines. The welcome is warm and relaxed. And the puds are not to be missed!

   I have been for Sunday lunch twice to The Carpenters Arms and both times have been brilliant. I love the friendly local vibe and the owner and staff are professional and friendly. If I lived nearer, I would go very weekend!

   The Carpenters Arms has gone rapidly downhill over the last couple of months. The choice of food is now very limited and the quality not nearly as good as it used to be, service is ridiculously slow and generally inept, the management appears to have lost interest entirely and the gastro pub dining experience has been completely ruined by the place becoming a pub where large numbers of drinkers come for loud and noisy conversations which spoil the atmosphere completely. It is extremely disappointing as we used to come here all the time; now we have no intention of returning until things have dramatically improved.

   Unfortunately the place was closed! We had a confirmed booking with open table and checked the opening times on the pubs website. Shame. We'd been before and really enjoyed it!

   Went there for a Sunday afternoon family meal with adult children and had a great time sitting out on their lovely terrace. Excellent food.

   A converted pub and atmosphere still very pub like. Unsophisticated and raw. Seated at a window table in a large echoing bar during a quiet indoor period- We felt rather exposed. Needs basic acoustic treatment-if full I would have walked away! Waiting staff good and food unmemorable, it served its purpose of a local walk for early supper with a friend. Would use again because it's local, but do get some sound deadening panels on ceilings or wall.

   Disappointing food - undercooked chicken for which they agreed not to charge (plus point) but they were clearly overstretched on a Saturday night and the food has deteriorated since I last eat there a year ago, when it was a proper "gastropub". Has it changed hands?

   Nice friendly pub. However despite spectacular burger, fish and chips over cooked. Not a huge menu. Not a lot of atmosphere as decor a bit industrial for us; would imagine gets noisy (no soft furnishings) if fuller. Good do better we felt.

    We enjoyed a traditional Sunday Lunch - Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding & a variety of vegetables. The beef itself (topside) was served pink which is how we like it with delicious gravy. One disappointment was that the slices of meat were difficult to cut and proved to be quite chewy. Sharper steak knives might have made it less hard work but we wondered if the beef should have been cooked for a little longer - we told the kitchen but we might have mentioned it earlier! Friendly, helpful staff, a reasonably priced Malbec, and yummy salted caramel icecream made our get-together a pleasant occasion overall. The 2 Bloody Mary's on arrival are greatly to be recommended!
