The Cactus Club in Palm Desert Ratings and Reviews
Fish 'n chips were excellent and filet of sole also very good although i ordered without the sauce. French fries are always great. I liked the rice of previous years way more than this seasons new version.
wait staff & all employees very friendly, attentive & anxious to please.
lots of fun had on the patio with live music & dancing every Fri and Sat.
We frequent this neighborhood eatery with live music on the weekends. Very casual and great prime rib with all the fixins on Sat. night (Thanks Reggie!)....best deal around. And we love the staff (kudos to Martin, Kyle, Norma, Evelyn, Rusty etc.)...they're great!
The atmosphere is clean, full bar. But it's a little like an updated coffee shop. There was a live band on the patio, so that was nice because you hear them, but they weren't blasting out your conversation. The food was ok. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good. We both had the prime rib for $22.95 (I think). It was a little flat on flavor, it definitely needed to be seasoned. Our service was good. The wine list is very, very limited, we noticed locals brought their own bottle of wine. It seemed like a friendly place. I'd probably be willing to try it for lunch or breakfast.
Enjoyed the music, but couldn't see the performers because of the reflection on the glass in the doors when we moved inside. When we were outside before that, we were sitting at the end of the patio, and it was very windy and a cold wind at that. The shades were pulled down, so we still couldn't see the performers until they finally raised them about 1/2 hour after the band started performing. All in all, we went to see Jeannette and her band perform, but hardly had a chance to enjoy her music. I would go again, but hopefully things will have changed by then. I thought we had a reservation to sit outside on the patio, but when we got there, it was not specified that we were to sit on the patio, so we opted to sit at the end of it...way too windy!!!
Saturday night. The restaurant is new to Open table and didn't receive our reservations. We were a party of 9 and they still made it work. Manager and staff were very friendly, but a little overwhelmed by how busy they became. Food was pretty good, drinks were quick, music was loud and good. I'd go back. Don't worry about underdressing.
We get the fact this is not a high end country club in general, but we looked at their restaurant and menus which appeared to be quite nice.
We ordered drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert. The food was okay at best but the service was pretty poor and seemed very unorganized like it was the first time people showed up even though there were not many people there at all!
All through our service, I had to catch the server and remind them to please bring something that always seemed to be missing...forks, one of the appetizers, ordered another glass of wine with dinner but got it afterwards and so on. ...we finally left since after prodding them for the check which took entirely too long. Big Disappointment!
