We weren’t able to eat. They didn’t honor our OpenTable reservation. They were understaffed and couldn’t get us in within an hour of our reservation. It was very disappointing.
Even with the Covid safety measures the menu was still adequate and the service was good. The Cabin has apparently adopted some Asian cooking and they blended the flavors into the more traditional American dishes with fantastic results that were both a surprise and a delight to eat.
Very disappointed with the restaurant..they didn't honor their Groupon, to me its a scam with Groupon, very dishonest..will never do back,
We were one of two tables occupied in the restaurant. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive and my wife’s meal was not even warm. When we mentioned it to the server, she said “you want me to take the entire meal back and make a new one?” (Asked in question format as if she was surprised) I ordered the filet and it was tough. Needed a steak knife to cut the meat, a $35 filet should cut like butter. On the positive side, it was hot. Do yourself a favor and Gina another restaurant.
Nice quiet place to go and have a good meal for not a lot of money - the chef is pretty creative!
The food was fantastic and the service was spectacular!
They served me instant mashed potatoes. The food wasn’t good, the service wasn’t great. Will not be back.
We have been dining at The Cabin for many years and up until this last trip have never had anything bad to say. When we walked in there was maybe one other table seated and it still took quite a while for a waitress to come over to take our order. Our calamari did not seem to be seasoned as well as I recall it in the past. My wife ordered the fried chicken with mac and cheese and the chicken was braded and fried perfect but was not seasoned. The mac and cheese had leeks in it but had far too many. Plus the sauce was very watery. I had ordered a burger which was prepared well but the fries came out overcooked. It is disheartening to leave feeling we had a bad experience. We both have had many good dining experiences here in the past and were shocked as to how slow and how bad the service and food was considering how dead the dining room was. Hopefully the leadership can turn this around and bring it back to what it once was.
The service was exceptional as was the ambiance. Only reason it’s 4 stars instead of 5 is because unfortunately my Delmonico was way over cooked. I’m sure they would have fixed it had I complained, but I didn’t because I hate to do that and my husband likes his steak cooked more than mine so we just switched.
We had a lovely time at the Cabin. Unfortunately their sushi chef was not available due to COVID right now otherwise we would have given outstanding rating. Excellent steaks. very pleased.
THE place is a little dated and in a classic style. The food though is amazing.
I had one of the 5 best prepared filets I've ever had. It was done Pittsburgh Rare which some of the great $80 and up steak house can't do like they did. Perfect, absolutely perfectly done. Apps were original and well prepared. A surprising and excellent choice for a great meal.
Scallops were gritty and we were seated in front of the fireplace ( the best table according to waitress) which was right next to an open storage room. For the price Id expect the place to be visually more appealing. My son ordered a burger and fries that looked pretty good.
Our dinners were delicious! I had the steak and my husband had the seafood pasta.
Our server was extremely friendly and attentive.
Beautiful setting. Filet little over cooked
GREAT service!! Great food!! The Cabin is a staple in our community
Everything was good. The owner waited on us as there were not many people. My husband had the sushi and I had the shrimp and grits. Both were good.
Service was extremely slow. We were told at the end of our meal we had to ask if we wanted bread. Portion it was horribly small. Had to go to the bar to get our drinks because the service was so slow.
I was greeted by the hostess when I walked in and she gathered the menu in her hands, but then the phone rang and she took a to go order as I stood there. She even walked away to determine what salad dressing they had. Once served I sat for another 15-20 minutes without a server because she either didn't notify anyone my table had been sat and/or none of the servers took note of me. The party that was behind me was served in the main dining room. I had to walk to the hostess stand for a server. The meal (the clambake with lobster - a $50 meal) itself was great. However, my main took so long that the server came out to apologize, and then when it did arrive I suspect it was the lobster tail special because it came with green beans and not corn on the cob. Then I was charged $53 instead of $50 and it had to be adjusted. With two glasses of wine my meal was not cheap, and I felt like an afterthought. I drove 30 minutes for dinner. I'm not inclined to eat there again.
great night, friendly service, awesome sushi, safe setting
Very charming and quiet back patio. Excellent sushi dish, though the fried green tomatoes were overpriced. I would definitely go back, though.
Spaced far apart from anyone else. Staff practiced social distancing. Husband has sushi and I had shrimp and grits. Kitchen and staff need to learn to properly space courses out so you can enjoy them
The dining room was freezing. There were no daily specials, ordered scallops that were way too salty -reordered and they came out exactly the same; ie too salty.
Diet pop was too sweet for our guests. Sushi was very good.
Never been so disappointed. Never! Both wife and waited for or dinners 45 min. Both came out ice cold. Really... like they came out of refrigerator. We where not only ones. Our server her best . Had an 8 top next to us and they left. To bad....really hate to see a icon like the cabin go down hill.
Reservations was at 7:30 on valentines and didn’t get a table till 8:45. Steaks where over cooked and the server didn’t care at all. Owner and bartender was very nice, but they dropped the ball on this day!
We never got to the food! We had a 7pm reservation. Arrived at 6:50. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait. At 7:30, there were still 10 names ahead of us. When we overheard someone say they had a 6:15 reservation and were still waiting, we left. At the way tables were clearing, it was going to be at least another hour! They way overbooked Valentine's Day. We have been here many times before and love the food. We will go again but never on any holiday.
All of the food was perfect. A little noisy because the place was full.
Excellent food in a relaxed setting.
Pam our waitress was the BEST! Very attentive to our needs, friendly sweet! We will go back awesome ambiance!
Food was good but service still needs some help there. The bar also needs some work. No lemons and no ginger beer
I chose the cabin for my wife on our 48 anniversary we were both disappointed. WE ordered the prime rib dinner, my wives was mostly fat and grizzly and my was about the same .It was not very tender and not the prime rib you get that is slow cooked for hours .At $30 a dinner I would have expected a much better cut of meat. We did not see or waitress but a few minutes here and there. Pickle bills prime rib is $29.99 and it is a bigger cut and is a very tender cut of meat.
Went for New Year’s Eve was fairly crowded. Had a perfectly cooked filet and a lobster tail that was a bit rubbery. We thought that they had sushi which was the main reason we picked the restaurant, saw it on their menu but when we got there found out they weren’t serving it that night. So all in all for the busy evening not too shabby.
During the 1960's and early 70's our family came to The Cabin for perch every Friday night that our dad was home from work. He worked on the railroad, so his days home were irregular. His first name was Lloyd, and Mom always gave his name when one was requested -- easier than our true last name. Both parents gone now, but we have a sibling gathering every year around Christmas. Last year we decided that coming to The Cabin this year would be good. Disappointed and surprised not to see perch on your menu, but we enjoyed our evening, the food, and service by waitress Nicole was spot on. None of us live anywhere near The Cabin now, so it's unlikely we'll be back anytime soon. We all have fond memories of your establishment. Most notable was the waitresses always complimenting Mom and Dad on how well behaved their children were. I especially enjoyed the fact that at a table for 6 we could all hear each other talking; no loud music playing. We sat in front of the one fireplace, and enjoyed that nostalgic bit of ambiance as well.
The food here is always excellent. I have had a lobster bake and hamburger so far. I've tasted the steak my wife ordered and the chicken francaise my mother in law ordered. All were top notch and mother wateringly delicious. The servers are very attentive and kind. I highly recommend this restaurant for a family gathering, business, or as part of a romantic evening.
Great food great service!
Service was fantastic. I forgot how good the cabin was. Hadn't been there in Years. Glad we went back!
Had to wait for everything. Food was terrible.
The burger was dry, the pork chop was dry and the grits were dry. We had to wait over one and a half hours before we got our food.
Service was slow and 4 of our 6 dinners were terrible.
We were there about 6:00 and they were out of salmon, we ordered the chicken because the menu was very limited, really wanted the salmon and nothing else on the menu was really appealing.
We both ordered the same meal and we were very disappointed, it food was so bland, we both had to keep putting salt on the dish so there was some taste.
We had friends who were supposed to come, they were glad they didnt.
We had anniversary reservations for 6:30. We ordered at 6:45. 2 prime rib dinners which shouldn't take long to prepare. Our food arrived at 8:30. The prime rib was luke warm at best, but did taste good. The side dish I asked for was wrong when it came out but was corrected. The au jus didn't come out with our meal, as well as the horseradish we asked for. Our drinks sat empty on the table throughout most of the evening. Even after informing our server that I was supposed to be to work at 9. We were not offered any compensation whatsoever. 1 meal free, 50% off the check, but honestly I expected to be offered a full free meal in this situation. We left feeling very unsatisfied with our dining experience.
