Fantastic restaurant for any meal and for any occasion. Beautiful views of the water and extremely friendly staff. Food is delicious and creative. I love that I can make a reservation online with a special note about a special occasion or special request.
We went to the Boathouse for Father's Day and we were very disappointed. We had a reservation and upon arrival, were told that they were very busy. Despite that, we were seated quickly, so we thought things would be OK. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting over an hour for our food. We actually think the food runner gave our food to another table as they really appeared to have no idea where food was supposed to go. They walked through a door at the end of the isle and just kept asking people if they ordered the food on the tray. We were willing to be patient due to the fact that it was a special occasion but the service was truly poor. We watched our waitress stand at a table next to us and talk to the customers for more than 15 minutes - probably a contributing cause to us not getting our food. The food was good but the experience was overshadowed but the extremely poor service. Unfortunately, we will most likely not return.
They were clearly having issues in the kitchen. Despite the restaurant clearly not being full, it took almost 30 minutes to be seated for Sunday brunch. The food took awhile, and the server kept remarking they were out of things (someone needed to run out to go get more syrup, etc.) The Boathouse has been a longtime favorite in my family, but we've all noticed that its gone downhill the past few months.
Our experience here has been inconsistent. This past Sunday we made a reservation for brunch because it was Father’s Day. Upon arriving, we were still asked to wait 15 minutes before being seated. We ordered an appetizer and coffee immediately. After 40 minutes we told the waiter to forgo the appetizer, anticipating our food should be out soon. Another 30 minutes later we spoke with the manager who offered us soup. We wanted our appetizer and food. All through the wait we kept having to prompt the waiter to refill our coffee and water. Despite two complaints in person, we were never we offered a discount on our meal. The patrons around us, being served by a different waiter, expressed similar concerns. We will not be going back.
We were the first party to be seated for father’s Day as we had a 10am reservation. We ordered fairly quickly as we had young kids in our group. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive. This is not the first time the food takes way too long. It’s unfortunate.
Great atmosphere, great food. Couldn’t ask for more.

I have been here before for happy hour and drinks. Small bites and appetizers are good. Service is lacking - slow and very little attention to detail. I will not go back for dinner. There are better seafood meals to be had in the Baltimore area.
We go to the boathouse because it's on the water/has great ambiance. But they keep disappointing on service. In a previous visit we were sat at our table and then it took an extremely long time before someone came for our drink order. Long enough that we were considering leaving - but eventually the waiter showed up - claimed he hadn't been informed we had been sat, and everything was fine from there. Probably not his fault, but certainly a breakdown in the process.
In the most recent visit, we were told our reservation would require an extra 20 minutes to get a table outside. So we went and sat at the bar. Realizing that no one had said anything to us about coming to find us at the bar, I returned to the front desk where four employees were troubleshooting some issue with the reservation/seating computer. I was the only guest there. I stood there for almost two minutes before finally just asserting myself - probably I could have done so earlier, but I was trying to be polite - but also I have this belief that somehow the restaurant is supposed to focus on the guest first in such situations.
Returning to the bar one of our drinks was accidentally knocked over - breaking the glass and getting shards into another drink. It took a long time to get someone to clean the glass and liquid off the bar in front of us. Even in a busy restaurant, I would expect broken glass to become the top priority. Then it took then at least 10 minutes to replace the drinks while we waited.
At 30 minutes past our reservation time, I went back to the desk to enquire as to whether our table was going to be available. Although in a busy environment, a 10 minute delay over the 20 minute prediction is not so bad. At this point, it was just one more thing.
In general, it feels as if we're always waiting for the staff at the boat house. Management should improve their training and processes.
Also - they charge $10 for parking on Fri/Sat nights now. Boo.
The food was fine. Well priced considering the waterfront. But nothing amazing. The service was the issue. Had a 630 reservation for 2. Checked in and told by a hostess that was a complete jerk and clearly thought we weren’t good enough to even look at, that there was a 20-30 minute wait for outside but no wait inside. We chose the wait and go to pick he outside bar, which is on us, but then came back to the hostess after about 15 min and said, due to our other event that night that we need to get to we would choose inside. She said it was another 20 min wait. We were confused but she had no other response. We decide to wait at tHe inside bar and realize there are a ton of empty tables inside and outside. Which was annoying but I know sometimes you can’t serve the table so you don’t seat the tables. Well then we had to ask for everything 3 times. Refills. Drinks. To order. To get the check. We didn’t sit until 715 and then weren’t even served well even though the place was empty. The waitress was smiley but incompetent and the hostesss was not the person at the front you want greeting customers. She was so rude.
We went for a business lunch for the delicious and famous shrimp salad. When we arrived, they didn't have our reservation, but it was lunch time so they were able to accommodate us. They were out of lemonade so three in our party could not have Arnold Palmers. A party of four, all ordered shrimp salad. It took well over a half hour to get our meal. I had been there before and recommended the shrimp salad. It was terrible. It was bland and watery like it had been made hastily to fill our order. It was a disappointing meal to say the least.
Great restaurant with a wonderful view, very complete menu from sandwiches to entrees and very reasonably priced. Wonderful seafood.
Overall a nice place. Can't beat the view. I was not impressed with the wait staff. They seemed uninterested, maybe it was just a bad night.The waitresses got the order wrong, but for us being from out of town, you'd think they would try harder to impress. It wasn't even crowded. We're not likely to return.
We came for Saturday brunch. The server (Brittany) was prompt and attentive. The food was great; it was fresh and we had absolutely no complaints about any of it. The only item of concern was parking. The adjacent lot is small but we found parking on the street within walking distance of the restaurant. I will certainly return!
The service was absolutely horrible and the food made me sick to my stomach. I would never go back. We went in early and they wouldn’t seat us until our reservation despite the many open tables. Then the server was terrible. He didn’t bring us silverware until I had to yell for him after we got out food. My glass of wine also sat empty for the majority of the meal. Huge disappointment.
For a downtown restaurant, free parking was not an issue and available next to the Tindeco Apartment at 4:00pm on a Saturday. Enjoyed the garden table; the water front atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. The service was very good and enjoyed their oysters on the half shell. The cocktails were also very good but served in plastic cups probably due to safety reasons. Afterwards, we went to the dining room for dinner; the cocktails and food were good, the waiter was nice and attentive but seemed distracted. After this experience, I would preferred the garden atmosphere for dinner on a cool summer evening assuming you can order dinner from the garden (they presented a bar menu). Overall, it was a good experience.
We spent the day in Baltimore and made reservations at this restaurant mainly for the views and seafood! All the parking spots were full in the lot in front of the restaurant but we were able to park for free at the waterfront park a few blocks down the street which was an easy, nice walk. Unfortunately they were out of the beer we wanted and steamed shrimp by 2:00 PM on a Saturday. We ended up ordering calamari w/ the sauce on the side (delicious!), a side of jalapeno cheese grits (yum!) and the brunch burger (not really flavorful but the bacon helped). They were quick with service and very welcoming the entire time. I will definitely come back another time when in town.
So it’s really hard to give a bad review because I don’t like to but here we go. To start off when we arrived we had saw a sign that said guest parking $10 dollars, well baltimore city/canton ok that’s understandable but never mentioned anywhere on open table. I made a reservation weeks ago had a few people tell me it was really great place, boy it not a great first impression. In the reservation it has a request box I put table out side with a good view by the water it’s right on the water don’t think it would be that hard right. Wrong when we were seated at our table we counted 6 to 8 tables that were open outside I asked our waiter for the manager. In quotations ( it’s a longer wait for outside seating and it’s simply a request on a reservation if we can accommodate it good if we can’t then we can’t.) REALLY when does reservations not come first it’s the principle of things me and my wife only get a few opportunities to get out with out the kids and she was not happy, and you know the saying happy wife happy life. I will say that they did accommodate us with a free app but it didn’t really help the tables were still there an hour in to us being seated then they finally were filled with people. I ordered a beer and waited 15 mins for them to tell me they had to switch cages and then they didn’t have it and when I ordered my food it was wrong and they had to fix it. I hate giving this review cause the food was amazing and very good but the fact that there was another couple who came in as we were leaving and I could tell that there was an issue. I walked up and asked if he had a reservation and he said yes then asked if he requested to sit outside and he replied yes again, and he threw a fit and got to sit outside cause he said it was bs and he never heard of that and he has eaten here before a few times. JUST A BAD TASTE OF CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE LEFT IN MY MOUTH. Don’t know if I will come back again knowing that this is how they treat reservations and customers.

The place was nice and had a nice drink selection but we waited close to two hours for our food and it was only fair. I got a Benedict with a semi-burnt English muffin and it was supposed to have lump crab on it but there were only about two small pieces of crab on each.
This Sunday, I decided to celebrate my daughters birthday and I made reservations at the Boathouse Canton. We arrived 20minutes prior to our reservation time and checked in. We still had to wait an additional 20 minutes past our reservation time. After being seated, and placing our order- we did NOT receive our food until 1 hour and 4 minutes later... I’ve always recommended this restaurant but our last two visits have been pretty undesirable.
Everytime I come here, the service gets worse. I don't think I would ever go back if they didn't have such a nice outside area. I came here for my birthday and my friend's graduation. The waiter never aknowledged that we were celebrating. We waited over an hour for luke warm, mediocre food. When the food did come, only 3 out of 4 plates arrived. 10 minutes later the 4th dish came out. The server never apologized or explained the delay. We did continuously get refills on our drinks, but the server wasn't personable or friendly. When it came time for dessert, the server just threw the check on the table, cleared our plates and walked away. We had not requested the check and hoped to sing happy birthday. We had to go somewhere else for dessert. I get that they are busy for brunch, but then they need to have more servers working. They clearly can't handle the volume of guests, and the service and food quality is suffering. A very disappointing brunch. We all agreed, "Boathouse kind of sucks."
The food is great and the view is amazing however the services was a little less than stellar. It seemed that the table behind us got lots of attention because they had a complaint or two and because we did not the waitress was not very attentive.
Food is good generally but eating outside can be an inconvenience if you want fries. They don't serve fries on the dock as they only serve tater tots, which is silly. Who eats tater tots besides kids?
The crew was very energetic and polite, our food was cold but the problem was fixed immediately so no complaints.
I absolutely love this restaurant. Our waiter was great. Everyone was super kind. Food is great. Definitely will recommend to other people!

This restaurant continues to go downhill for me. This was my third visit... It is very loud inside, you can barely hear the person at the table.
I’m a vegetarian and asking to not put chicken on the nachos seamed to be unheard of....lol. I got the weird look. Then ordered a salad (again, no chicken) and it came out with chicken. They took it back and I guess plucked the chicken off because as I’m eating it, they missed a piece.
For the price, the ambiance, food and service is more of a mediocre restaurant rather than an upscale.
I will come back to sit outside at the outside bar but I’ll never bring someone to eat dinner here again. 3 strikes and I’m out.

My daughter and I were in Baltimore for Mother's Day weekend. We sat outside with one and enjoyed the happy hour festivities before going inside for a great dinner and a super view! Best crab cake of the weekend!
Came here one night with friends after work and had sat right by the water. Food was excellent, but the service was not great, as our waitress forgot our oysters and the guy taking care of the table behind us messed up a number of times. Great experience overall though!

Horrible service. Ordered appetizers which came out cold with our meal. The table had no napkins and utensils we asked and our waiter never came back we had to steal from another table. Waiter never came to bring condiments or ask if we needed another drink. It wasn’t just our table everyone around us was experiencing awful service and it wasn’t even that busy.
First time dining here since it was the Bay Cafe. Figured we would check out the new place. Unfortunately, from our arrival to the service during the meal to the complete indifference of the wait staff and the host, I will not be going back to the BoatHouse. The food was good, but the service was atrocious. Examples: I asked for some napkins to steady a severely rocking table. They were never delivered. I asked for my water glass to be refilled. Had to ask another server before it was filled. My Open Table reservation was canceled after I arrived and checked in. This occurred while I was dining at the restaurant! I went to the host to ask him why he canceled my reservation and he shrugged, casually looked at the computer for a minute or 2 while I stood there, said nothing to me, then proceeded to answer the phone and ignore me! What the actual F? The BoatHouse has a long way to go with providing their customers with an acceptable level of service. It's really too bad because the food is decent and the view of the boats is incredible.
Was seated next to a door and asked HOst if it would be cold there. He advised no because it was heated outside. Very windy every time someone opened the door which was a lot. Asked to be seated elsewhere because of the door. Was seated next to the back door with the same issues. No horseradish available until asking for the 3rd time. Bar was out of Grand Marnier!!!
I was pleased with the food and service however my party and I were very disappointed when the server informed us only beer and wine was available during dinner due to lack of inventory. I've been a frequent patron of this restaurant and have enjoyed the selection of specialty drinks and was very disappointed not having the option to enjoy them with dinner.
