Cream of crab soup was not a hit. Shrimp and grits were tasty but portion was small.
Service was horrible. One entre was delivered 10 minutes before the second. There were no utensils to eat it with. I was told I could exchange a side salad for potatoes and was charged extra which was not mentioned previously. The live music by One Third Wish was the best thing about the evening.
Even though I made the reservation a week in advance, once we arrived the staff still had to "get our table ready." Thankfully it was a short wait.
Our waitress was outstanding, and the food was absolutely delicious. We were celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday with several of her friends, and she requested the Canton Boathouse because it's excellent dining along the Baltimore waterfront. My husband, her older sister, and I sat at a separate table while our birthday girl enjoyed her celebration (and crab cakes). The Restaurant Week menu was really wonderful too! Thank you for helping make a great memory for our daughter's special birthday.
Never got to taste the food because the service was so poor. Waited 45 minutes in spite of having a reservation. Was ignored by the hostesses while others who arrived after us were seated. Will never try this place again!
Made reservations and we were seated upon arrival. Waiter was pleasant but pretty busy due to restaurant week. Caesar salad was poorly arranged, calamari was seasoned well and was a nice portion size. Entrees took over an hour to come out and were so BLAND! Lobster mac had no flavor and neither did my trout. Smh. Best part of the evening was the view and conversations. Probably would only go back for drinks and appetizers but never if I’m looking for a good meal.
Extremely rude staff, especially the hostess. Also, very slow service.
Dinner was good
Service was crap. Messed up my order twice. A total waste of money, time, energy and gas. I will never eat here again!!!! Then the manager was so unbothered by me explaining what was wrong and did nothing to try and fix the situation.
The view is amazing, there's a great atmosphere, and the food was excellent! Will definitely be returning! Very fun and beautiful place.
Was unable to drive to the restaurant entrance to drop off a person with mobility issues Will probably not return for this reason.
Came for Baltimore City Restaurant Week. Delicious food and gorgeous view. Can't wait to return and sit at the Dock Bar!
The ambiance was great and the drinks were awesome! The service was alright, but our server was on his way out in the middle of our dinner so that was why. Steak wasn’t made as it was ordered but the food was pretty good over all.
Very good food, we came for restaurant week. Cocktails were great.
We went for Restaurant week only to find out when we sat down that the Mussels that were advertised were not being served during restaurant week. That's one of the reasons we picked the Boat House. Then I ordered the tenderloin which on the menu said it had peppercorn sauce on the steak. I asked if I could get the steak without the peppercorn sauce and was told no. Then I asked if it could just be put on the side and the waitress said she would ask. Guess what the steak was swimming in peppercorn sauce.
The apple pie with ice cream was good.
Don't think I will return since they seem to be set in their ways of take it or leave it but we are not changing to satisfy the customer.
Original plan was to come here with two friends from work for Restaurant Week, however once we got there, we all ordered off the regular menu. Disappointed that drink and happy hour specials were only available at the bar and we had already sat and didn't want to disrupt the flow of table assigning to the waitresses. There was a sign about the happy hour specials but it did not read only available at the bar. Our waitress was a bit "flighty" so that was a bit of a turn off. She didn't check on us as often as we thought she should. Overall, we enjoyed our evening out. The view was gorgeous. Watching the people walk dogs was relaxing. I'd definitely come again and try to specials at the bar.
I forget what the name of this place used to be but they used to offer 2 for 1 drinks....if the boat house adopted that, they'd be my go to spot every week because the food was great but paying full price for a second scotch, basically a shot, wasn't in the cards.
Food was awesome, but the hostess staff said there was an hour wait for outside seating. We declined and sat inside right away. Once sat, we could see numerous open tables of different sizes outside. When questioned, the hostess continued to say they were working off of a waitlist. The entire time we were at the restaurant (over an hour) only one party was sat outside. The hostess should tell the truth and not mislead or lie about having a waitlist but then not sit anyone off of it.
Service was poor and slow. We ordered drinks and they forgot one and took a while to bring it. Asked for some extra ice, they forgot. Forgot to provide silverware - eventually did. Meal finally arrived over an hour after we ordered and they forgot to ring in one meal. They apologized. Offered to make again, but did not have time to wait. Food was good, but it was a disaster with the service. For the prices they charge, they should have better service.
It was a great experience food was beyond amazing and the service was
The views are ENOUGH to come here. It's right on the water and its amazing. The food was mediocre and the service was very slow. It was my first time there and during restaurant week they didn't even have a lunch menu.
Superb! Make reservations and arrive a few minutes early. Hostesses were friendly and fast, Servers were upscale and knew the menu, Ambiance ... can’t get any better sitting waterfront, and Food was Delicious! 5-stars for our visit!
Service was terribly slow. It took 30 minutes to pay our check, we eventually asked another server to cash us out. We ordered bottomless mimosas as well and constantly had to ask for refills, which took an extended period of time to receive. If you know someone’s ordered a bottomless option, you shouldn’t have to be asked to refill the drink multiple times.
Although our waitress was very friendly, I was generally disappointed in the staff demeanor and service. Other staff members were, frankly, rude. The food was okay (eggs were slightly overdone), but it was very disappointing when my date and I ordered the same thing and his plate looked like it had much less food. My date also tried to order a specialty cocktail, but was told by our waitress that the menu was in transition and that virtually none of the drink menu was available. We felt that this should have been indicated by some sort of "transitional" or "supplementary" menu.
They have a nice dinner menu, and the view is just great. We had a chance to try their brunch today. It was satisfying.
We sat outside for brunch and it was really nice. The only complaint is that they don't allow people to bring strollers in. The stroller would have taken up the same amount of space as the rickety high chair they provided which was too big for my friend's baby and she ended up having to hold her the whole time anyway. Just a suggestion that a change in policy - maybe allowing strollers in the outside seating area? - would go a long way to happy customers!
Our server was absolutely wonderful however it took almost 2 hours for our food and the food was not cooked correctly. Terrible experience with the kitchen. Thankful for our wonderful waitress Allison who made the wait bearable and was very accommodating despite the kitchen and food being so poorly managed and prepared.
We had a great dinner with out of town guests. The Boathouse provided a fun dinner with Baltimore flavor on the waterfront in Canton. It was easy to get to and parking was no problem.
We went for Baltimore Restaurant Week. Appetizer of mussels and sausage was good. I ordered the Shrimp and Crab stuffed Trout, but they were out and didn't offer an exchange possibility. I had to pick the other two items on the menu which were not seafood. That was fine (although I really wanted seafood) so I picked the duck. When it came, it was room temperature, not hot. I was expecting it to be hot. Small portions too.. maybe it was because we were went for Restaurant week . But you would think for a business from a customer's point of view it's all about checking out new places and wanting to come back. After my experience here, there are better places to eat for the price. Great view though.. only reason I would go back.
My best friend and I went for Restaurant a Week... The food and service were great... I had a salad, crab and shrimp rainbow trout, and apple pie... Everything was delicious... We were seated outside and the view of the harbor was gorgeous... I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Predictable menu. Nachos (store bought chips), Mediterranean platter, (pita bread fresh out of the plastic bag) wings blah blah blah. Predictable lazy person’s bar food. Five years ago they were probably serving jalapeño poppers. Before that—stuffed Potato skins. From Sysco’s freezer to your microwave. Don’t forget the pre-mixed frozen drinks..not a blender in sight. Predictable fare for a view of the water and some Canton dwellers’ boats. No thanks. I would rather eat something homemade in a paddle boat.
I got the fish and chips. For the price, I was surprised it was only two small pieces of cod. They didn’t have much flavor. My husband got the burger with crab cake on top. The menu advertises beefsteak tomato, but it was cut so thin it was transparent. The appetizers were good. We got the wings and the calamari. We appreciated the paper straws, but they got soggy after sitting in our drinks for an hour. They were also too short for the glasses. The outdoor seating is a great plus for this place. Parking is also very difficult here now. They used to have a huge parking lot, now it’s closed off and only a few spots remain open for the restaurant.
Go for the outdoor experience. Skip the indoor dining. Average food at exorbitant prices. Get a better steak at Outback across the street.
Service was slow and food, although very good, was cold
The food was delicious and the view was excellent. I had talked to a very friendly staff outside of the building but everyone from the reception to the waiter were pretty serious and a bit unfriendly. I was very surprised. I am willing to give it a second chance to the place and come back with my family because of the good food and the nice view.
Disappointing for an anniversary dinner. No music just LOUD
Food was good however the service was very slow. The waiter forgot our appetizers and our meals came out 15 minutes apart.
We celebrated a friend's birthday at The Boathouse. Always an enjoyable evening, sitting by the water looking out into the harbor. Excellent service. Good food.
An overall wonderful experience. A great location, very attentive and competent staff, excellent beverage menu and a wide variety of delicious food. It was a good experience and an enjoyable evening.
Upon entering the restaurant the hostess was very polite. I originally didn't like the choice of seating that was offered and she was more than helpful with making a quick adjustment for my group and I. So as we were seated we were instructed to wait for our server. I never actually knew the names of our servers. Yes, we had more than one server. Not to mention our servers was either extremely overwhelmed with other tables or just careless with our table. The majority of the FOH service was extremely poor but the BOH was exceptional. The food runner or cooks that came to the table to drop off food were friendly, helpful, and super talented. The most memorable part about my visit had to be when two other servers that were waiting tables outside, came over to our table to sing "Happy Birthday" to me. It was definitely appreciated. I don't honestly recall either one of our servers offer anything special for "Birthday Celebrations" at all. Tuesday's are absolutely not lively, just a quick suggestion. When this establishment doesn't have live entertainment I believe something soft toned would be more welcoming.
