The Boathouse at Kits Beach
Amazing meal, excellent service, incredible restaurant.
Was a delicious brunch - particularly the smoked salmon egg dish, we had a sunny winter day with few venturing out due to the weather. Best service & atmosphere with roaring fire
Great job, we treated our friends & they had never been before & were very impressed
The seasoning on my steak was too salty. It tasted like I was getting intermittent chunks of rock salt with random bites. My dinner date is a big fan of salt and she, too, found her steak to be too salty.
The vegetables were not stellar... the carrots were barely cooked and the brussel sprouts were over-roasted. Hard carrots & brussel sprouts of any sort are NOT something I expected (nor ate more than a bite of) at a restaurant the calibre of the Boathouse.
It’s a nice place to get family and friends to be together. Plenty of space with beautiful beach view. Maybe because of the season, only a few people were there for dinner when we were there. The service was good and the waitress even gave us a special treat for my sister’s birthday; however, the food was not good as what we expected.
Overpriced for the quality of food you get. The presentation looked cheap.
The boat house has a lovely location but we waited for over 30 minutes for our food sadly and drinks took a good 10 minutes. Nice staff but I think the kitchen must get busy.
the cod was too hard and too oily, but the taste wasn't too bad. the green tea I had tasted like medicine, so I was a little bit disappointed. the pasta my boyfriend had also too oily and too much butter, so I think these could be improved
It was good. Could use a little more variety for brunch items as it has been the same for quite a while. Maybe even some basic eggs, bacon and toast.
We were seated on patio it was quite dark - poor lighting on the tables and in the surrounding area. As well the guests seated a couple of table over were very loud talkers. This all distracted and resulted in a less than ideal ambience.
Was a very nice New Years Eve Dinner. There was a set menu but there was some great choices that my whole family enjoyed.
It was my birthday!!
View is lovely, restaurant was quiet on Dec 28 which was a Saturday evening. Our server seemed uninterested in our party of 10. Just going through the motions and bare minimum service. No drink refills unless we tackled someone. Food was good but then empty plates sat for a while. Won't be rushing back.
Food is always good and we appreciate the “points” being Laundry members!
Christmas Day set menu, we booked a long way in advance but as soon as we sat down we were told they had sold out of the turkey Dinner. Our reservation was 7:30pm. That’s not late. Will never book here again for a set menu, $300 and none of us got what we wanted. Disappointing all round.
We have gone to the New West location for years for Christmas, Kits being the first, we will consider elsewhere in 2020.
The location and staff were great, but was very disappointed with the meal. My wife being a vegetarian was not impressed with only one option, and it was not even printed on the menu choices which she found offensive.
My Caesar was small, very basic...banquet hotel style and dry, barely any dressing...this was maybe a 2 star.
The entree I had was the 8oz Prime Rib...it was not an 8oz cut, was small for sure. the plate over all was a 3 as there was barley any jus as well.
Dessert was the best with either choice.
Then I ordered as a side the crab "STUFFED" prawn...so miss leading, was not stuffed at all, was a crab spread pretty much that was broiled pretty much and served.
I am sure the regular menu on any other day would be a great experience, New West knocked it out of the park 3 years in a row, and offered to order off the menu with a Christmas menu special. I am not sure if they went the same format with a set menu, if they did it would be interesting to see how it turned out for them this year.
I usually would not do a review like this, so please take this as a take away and hope you can improve. I know staffing can be an issue, but there is a reputation/standard that the Boathouse is known for, and for my guests it was their first time...they enjoyed but no "Wow", main comment was small portioning.
My husband, our moms, and I had a lovely dinner here. Our server was generally attentive - it seemed they might have been a bit understaffed. We sampled 3 of 4 of the first course. My mom said it was the vest seafood soup she’d ever had. My wild green salad was also excellent. The Caesar salad was so-so. My Mom and I had the Prime Rib as was the Turkey that my husband and his mom. One thing we could all have done without were the garlic mashed potatoes! The desserts, a Creme Brûlée and Mocha Mud Pie were also excellent. At times it got quite cold along the window but whenever that occurred, the server would turn the heaters on. Despite that, we’d definitely visit here again for a Holiday meal!
No vegan options on the Christmas Eve menu. On top of that, one of our guests ordered a steak that came to the table and was completely spoiled, to the point that stank the whole environment. The lobster ravioli was cold.... Our party couldn’t wait to finish dinner and leave the restaurant!!! The experience ruined our Christmas Eve.... Very disappointing!!!!!
This was my second and last meal at this restaurant. Dissapointing on all counts. Substandard everything. I'll never go back and recommend others to stay away
Half of the lighted sign was out hence if read “House”...poor.
Although making this reservation in October I was told that it was a busy night and they would have to clear a table for me in a section that was reserved for a retirement home bus tour reservation. This was not the ambiance that I had hoped for to take my family for a Christmas Yves dinner. The service was very very slow. It was very cold and draughty where we wereSitting but they turned on the overhead heat lamps which then made it very hot. We poured our own wine. The prices were very high for what we received. Not happy.
The service and food were exceptional. The server was particularly good. Attentive while still allowing our table to enjoy our meal. Bravo !1
Food was good, server was excellent, didn’t rush us , was always available. 👍
We had a great time here, great food and great staff, it really made our gathering a wonderful time.
The very low noise level enhanced our experience by allowing our party to converse and relax.
Very nice location, pleasant lunch, more variety in the menu would be desirable.
Steak and lobster special. The lobster tail was small and dry. We had this dish earlier in the month and it was better. The steak was very good. Service was great!
The food was good but the margaritas we ordered were not. Also our server disappeared for a long time and we could not order additional food for our grandson until just before we were ready to leave.
Love the Nov. steak and lobster special!
Hostess should be enthusiastic and welcoming - not just seating guests , and maybe provide water.
heating should be monitored close to the single pane windows. Parking needs to be addressed. parking fees to 2 am and yet the restaurant will only reimburse $2.00
Super steak and lobster deal for Landry club members. Best meal I’ve had at the Boathouse in years - my first time at the Kits location. Our server was fantastic!!!
Great atmosphere. Our server was very patient and helpful. Good and drinks were very good.
Very happy overall.
Perfect for our occasion, quiet with attentive service, good food.
Lovely view of Kits Beach and English Bay from our table. The menu had dishes suitable for brunch, lunch, and share plates. A great place to take friends for some seafood and people watching. We did note that a large party near us was celebrating, so the noise level was quite high. Next time we'll ask if there are more quiet sections of the restaurant.
Bonus! This was a birthday celebration, and although our meals were quite substantial, there was an option to get a smaller portion dessert for the birthday girl which was a lovely way to end the brunch.
Ordered a steak done medium, but we were given a steak that was very well done. It was like chewing leather. I ate mine but my wife could not finish it off after having two bites. She was given a free desert
Wild maple salmon on a plank was very tasty.
our server was great. she was friendly and very attentive.
The welcoming was not as good, as the host seemed upset when we asked for a different table than the one she had ready. the restaurant was quite and there were a lot of empty tables at that time. the one we asked for just needed to get cleaned which it seemed she was annoyed to clean.
The food was generally good, jyst the Taco shells that were deep fried therefore too greased.
Ideal para un Lunch con vista al mar y la montaña.
Great service, beautiful sunset views of kits beach, and good range of options on the menu. will come here again and again .
Mentioned it's for birthday in reservation but it didn't seem to matter.
Greatly enjoyed dinner at the Boathouse at Kits Beach. Beautiful sunset view across the water. Decor is hard so noise escalates and echoes. Food and drinks were excellent but on the pricey side as to be expected or a prime location. Overall, very enjoyable and a must go place for visitors to Vancouver looking for that ocean view and seafood dinner.
