The restaurant wasn't very busy. Probably 7 other parties were in the restaurant. Took 20 mins to be seated after our reservation time. Spilt water on my brother and didn't wipe the entirety of the table. Had to go to the kitchen myself to get a cloth. Then took another 45 mins to even put our drink order in, AFTER I called the front desk saying we haven't been helped yet. The soup was warm, calamari was very lackluster, steaks were chewy, and judging by the night we were having the desserts were the best part of the night. Overall a terrible experience and after would never go to boathouse again. Should've went to Joe Fortes or The Keg.
I only gave if a fair rating because of the view and service, the steak was tough!
Love the location, right on the beach & can see North Shore city lights.
Food very good too, just a little pricey for the ambiance.
Server ignored us for the last hour we were there and all we wanted to do is pay and leave. Didn’t help that a staff member who was outside for a smoke (pretty sure they were wasted) threatened us while we were leaving.
the lobster bisque and salmon and creme brulee was excellent.
The Boathouse at Kits Beach were fantastic. We were watching a special family engagement on the beach and management and staff were able to help us celebrate safely. I am looking forward to returning for their delicious food.
Good service. Unreasonable pricing. Beautiful views
Poor inattentive service. Poor ambiance. Mediocre food. Expensive.... won’t be coming back.
Do not recommend!
Nothing can beat the view! Love going to the Boathouse (with a patio/window side table) and enjoy the view. The food was good, and service was great. Will definitely go back again for special occasions.
Although we booked a table almost a week ago, they initially gave us a table far from window. When we requested a table by windows they said they cannot switch the tables because they are fully booked as if we did not book a table. Upon requesting to see the manager, they eventually agreed to switch our table. In spite of my making a reservation for a table, we got treated as if we randomly stoped by. I felt being treated as a second class citizen. I really do not care whether I was seated by windows or not. The problem was their handling of our request and their unprofessional treatment of us. Will I go to any Boathouse restaurant? Absolutely not. The service was mediocre. Nothing exceptional. If you want to spend your money for a mediocre service and food, sure you should go!!
I took my friend for her birthday as we had such a great experience last year for her birthday. Considering it's entirely different circumstances this year, it was understandable that things were not the same. However, the restaurant was freezing—it was as if we were sitting outside. Perhaps because it was so cold in the restaurant that our appetizer (calamari) came out cold. We also found the Dine-Out menu lacking compared to last year, but this is understandable as COVID has changed a lot of the dining experience. And while the ambiance and food were lacking, our server was amazing and attentive, although not overly so. She was absolutely a delight and when we return it will be entirely because of her service.
Excited to try Kits location. Dine-out promo menu selection decent. Quality disappointing. Lamb shank overcooked. Lobster bisque watery and too much turmeric. Lobster ravioli okay but some pasta pieces were undercooked. Seafood chowder decent. Mocha ice cream pie tasted freezer burnt. Bread not fresh and even the whipped butter spread tasted old. We’ve eaten at Richmond and English Bay locations and always enjoyed the food. Very disappointing.
Nice environment and good food.
Excellent dinner in dine -out menu. The steak was cooked perfectly as was the lamb shank. All the food was tasty!
I gave a 4 star rating because my wife wanted her steak medium well and ended up with well done.
My husband and I had the dine out Sirloin and Grilled Prawns as the main course. The steak was perfectly cooked to our taste. Great value, wonderful service and what a beautiful setting.
Under the Covid circumstances the food and service was very good.
Outstanding as always. The Boathouse is out go-to favourite for both special occasions and casual nights out. Great spacing and safety protocols. Love the staff and the food.
The food wasn't great and it was too expensive for the value.
They definitely have excellent customer service. Food is ok could be better IMO. Had the Caesar salad and seafood chowder which was good. We also ordered 6 kiss hi and they were not the freshest. Not bad, but not the freshest.
Will go back.
Ladies restroom needed attention when I arrived, I did advise a server and it was attended too when I visited the second time.
Booked reservations a few weeks in advance for my birthday, wanted a window seat, there were a few window seats open but not available, lounge seating was suggested and we could get a window seat, it was very dark and not warm, couldn't read the menu without a flashlight. We ordered calamari and a soup and salad, beer to start then our meals. The wine prices were ridiculously priced for the selection offered. Dinner was tasty but a bit overpriced, my rice was stone cold, waiter brought me a hot bowl of rice, comped soup and salad and a dessert, that was nice and appreciated. Overall I doubt we'd come back.
Lobster tail was terrific! Wish there was a candle light under the butter to keep it warm like they do at the Westminister location. Also, wish there was more lighting outside the boathouse as the walk to the carpark was very dark and dingy.
1. Reservations for noon on a blustery 2 degree day. Doors were locked and not open until actually noon! Seriously?
2. The restaurant was FREEZING! Ate with my coat on (over a wool sweater and down vest). Most patrons had their coats on to eat. Maybe start the heat a bit before you open!
3. Menu is sad and tired and very few items really scaled for lunch. Struggled to find something - and I eat everything.
4. Service was lovely - no issues there.
5. Food was quite good but it got cold fast - see #2 above!
We always enjoy the Kits Boathouse. We’ll of course be back. Thanks.
Great views and great food. Coconut shrimp and sangria is my go to. It’s a large space so I miss the vibrant atmosphere pre-covid. Love coming here in the summer but the heated covered patio is also great in winter.
Always enjoy the view...
Quiet lunch with good foods and service..
Definitely will come back.
The food wasn’t great. The bathroom was dirty. Wasn’t too thrilled with our experience there.
Service was friendly
Great meal and great service! Can’t wait to go back again!
The table that we were sat at had a great view but the lighting made it very difficult to read the menu. We also were lured in by an email offering 15% off our food but apparently it only applied to police officers. The menu is pretty slim, albeit it is COVID time but the three course menu that was offered before Christmas was much more appealing.
Great dining experience!!
The waitress was friendly and always love the view of the beach from there.
New Years Eve fare was standard menu items at twice the cost. I would have expected that they upscale the selections a bit for the cost. Lobster bisque was barely warm, Seafood platter sparse and bland. Service was good though. Will not do NY eve dinner again but will continue to dine there for there regular menu items.
New year’s eve
Delicious food with reasonable pricing! Warm semi-outdoor seating was great in winter.
The winter rain didn't dampen the experience we had! We have been to other branches of Boathouse but this is the best one of all! 1st time to see that beautiful part of the Burrard Inlet, amazing view while enjoying the last day of the Holiday Feast 3 course meal.
I have a service dog so they seated us in the corner where it was cold and dark since they did not want a dog near the other 2 tables that had customers in a place of 50 tables. They treated me like a leper. It was disgusting and against Human Rights. The food was average and disappointing. Last time I will go to the Boathouse. I have a meetup group of 5000 members and they will hear from me. I might even make a complaint to Human Rights.
The food was okay. The decor is a bit tired. The service is not the best. The restrooms were very dirty. The toilet seat was not fully screwed on the toilet, paper towels were out. Restrooms were not cleaned or checked on. Ruined the whole dining out experience when I went to wash my hands prior to dinner.
my burger was excellent, with crisp bacon the way it should be, and though the restaurant does not serve blue cheese dressing, its substitute served well on the freshness of the salad.
Highly recommended with an outstanding view.
Perfect location on the beach to habe breakfast, the view on Kits beach and the mountains is stunning. The staff was very welcoming and caring. The food was tasty and plates weren't too big.
