Heritage Pork Chop
Food (artic char and catfish) were excellent as usual. Service was prompt. Cocktails a little pricey.
Great food and service.
We had a lovely meal. This time we sat in their cozy bar area. Everything was delectable. And that ice cream! What a treat!!!
Nice decor and location. The food is fine but not outstanding. I ordered the hazelnut finished pork chop. Which you would think included hazelnut, but no. When I asked the server where the hazelnuts were, she said the "pork was finished on a diet of hazelnuts" - translation - the pig's last meal was hazelnuts. No other menu item referred to the animal's last meal. Ridiculous, could be a Portlandia episode.
Hello Shannon, It is a little Portlandia, but we include information about our farms and how the meat is raised so that people can feel good about the meat they are eating. Those piggies are treated very well and so, so tasty! I never want to eat a grocery store pork chop again! We think it's cool. It's kind of like putting "grass-fed" or "grain finished" on the steaks. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Take care.
Had the blackened catfish with rice. Fish was good. Rice was undercooked. My wife had the scallops with oca and roe. Scallops were a little soft and the oca was undercooked.
The whiskey selection is awesome. The salads were great. The service was excellent.
Service seemed a little confused and someone kept opening the door to the outside....brrrrr
Not a great menu, no lobster, filet mignon. What they had was good but somewhat overpriced considering the other excellent options in downtown McMinnville
Hello Tom, I am so sorry that your experience was anything less then amazing. This makes me sad to hear because our crew felt so great at the end of the night. We served an extraordinary number of happy couples on Valentine's. I'm so glad you enjoyed what you did get, but we have never served lobster, unfortunately. Our menu is posted online. We did have filet on the menu and did not sell out of it on Valentine's day, as we expected that to be very popular. Thank you for your sincere feedback.
Great restaurant and great food! Our waiter was excellent and so accomodating!
Very disappointing. Terrible seating for a couple with reservations (bar table by a 10 top party and another very large, noisy gathering with young children running around) instead of the restaurant side (not for lack of availability but according to management the hostess didn't understand the concept of a reservation). Food was so undercooked we returned it and very over seasoned with pepper. Other than pepper most of the food was flavorless and bland. Dessert was also undercooked. Pathetic alcohol list available. The only good thing was the mushroom risotto and our waitress had great service skills. It has the "potential" for a romantic spot but I wouldn't return.
Hi Kate, Again, I am so disappointed this was your experience. I do hope you and your husband take me up on my offer to have you back as our guests and give you the experience you were looking for and should have had. I appreciate you taking the time to talk with me. Warmest regards, Michelle Blade
We enjoyed the experience and the food. My wife ordered a special drink and they came up with exactly what she wanted. The only knock was that the Appetizer and the soup came at the same time. That is not a real big thing. We will be back.
The food was cold nearly everyone at the table had to send it back to be reheated.
We always enjoy eating here it has such a nice atmosphere and the food is always amazing. I have a lot of dietary restrictions and they never make me feel like I’m a burden. Ian Was our server and mentioned he was new we would’ve never known though he was professional and friendly throughout our visit. Can
Wonderful Christmas Eve Dinner, food was very good.
Good food and service. Slightly overpriced.
A family tradition for Christmas Eve dinner.
We will be back.
Sarah is the best !! We so appreciate her service and her warm smile.
We have been coming to this place for years for both special occasions or a quick getaway. The service and food as always are impeccable. We will be back again!
The steaks were excellent and the steak fries were lovely. One of my dinner partners did not receive the right side dishes and one of them (creamed spinach) was cold but.. it was still great!
This place is great for steaks and for bourbon. Excellent bourbon selection and some are priced well while others are well, over priced. Good cocktails and wait staff is always friendly and good, but the speed of getting food out from the kitchen lags at times. Steaks are always good and cooked perfectly. Nice place to visit while visiting Mac!
Our server was very attentive and helpful. My lamb loin was just excellent! Done just right and very tender. We would go again!
Met up with friends for a wonderful dinner in McMinnville. The Barberry offers a great set of entry choices that can accommodate different palates. Last time in we went for the beef; this time it was the fish: black cod and halibut. Both came out of the kitchen perfectly.
A pretty impressive list of whiskies to choose from, too.
Fun place to grab brunch before wine tasting on a Sunday. I enjoyed the menu and everything was delicious. It was particularly quiet and we basically had the place to ourselves.
We reserved a tabke but then was greeted and told they were doing a harvest dinner we decided to stay with 12 of our newest friends. Food was ok served family style with some complimentary wine poured but otherwise had to order drinks from bar that were separate. If it was known going in what it was would have probably been ok since we didnt we were vastly disappointed
Food was terrible!! The chef they were using the night we were there was "new" according to the manager. The pasta had no taste/sauce. Our friends ordered salmon. Both got a cold/raw dish...which was not intended. They sent it back only to get another piece of salmon that was just slightly less undercooked but still unable to eat. We were very disappointed as everywhere else we ate near and around Portland had been amazing. This place was WAY overpriced. Fast food would have been our better option. We expected finer dining when picking this restaurant (from out of town). They were nice enough to comp the salmon dishes for us but will still never return.
We enjoyed our dinner which was very good. The waitress was top notch and helpful. The meats were prepared just right. We did pay $45 for a retail $12 dollar bottle of wine, but that is how it is in restaurants. Otherwise very satisfied and will come again as we have before.
We heard that the brunch at the Barberry was excellent & the menu online looked interesting. We arrived right when they opened & had the place to ourselves for a while. The menu was pedestrian & didn’t have the 2 items we wanted, the monte Christo & the avocado toast, so we got the basic breakfast & I asked for my eggs sunny side up, which apparently the waiter had never heard of, because he asked me if that was like over easy, whites cooked & yellow runny, to which I said yes. He brought me over easy. After we ordered a man came in carrying a screaming toddler & the waiter sat him right next to us! The whole place was empty! The food was just ok, except for the potatoes, which were excellent.
First time eating here and it was delightful. The recommendations for wine we great. Our dinner was amazing. Would go back definitely and recommend it as a must
In May, 2018, my family and I had a good experience at the Barberry. So, when my friends from California who frequent 5 star restaurants decided to visit us, I recommended The Barberry. We made reservations for 5 for dinner yesterday evening. The restaurant was nearly empty with plenty of staff.
When our entrees arrived, we played musical plates because our server didn't remember who ordered what.
The lamb and New York steaks were cooked to order and hot, but the side dishes were barely warm or cold.
Apparently, the waiter completely forgot my order because he placed in front of me a side of mashed potatoes (which I did not order) that were warm with an exciting cold center. I reordered my food and waited for it to arrive while everyone else ate.
I was embarrassed by the service and poorly cooked food. I regret recommending The Barberry. I doubt I will return.
The food was very uneven. One of us had the halibut which was delicious (but a bit over cooked). The other party ordered the duck which was cooked very well but lacked any taste. Wine selection was great, deserts were delicious. The cheese cake was a star. But overall disappointing and too pricey. Despite the fact that the restaurant was almost empty, the service left a lot to be desired. There are several restaurants in town which have better food, better atmosphere, and are less pretentious.
I went with the chef's recommendation to try the pork chop. Not my favorite cut, USUALLY - but this one was absolutely delicious. So moist and flavorful. Others had the bavette steak and the halibut - raves about each!
Fantastic dinner. Highly recommend
Menu looked good and our food was actually pretty good. The creamed spinach was mostly cream, the creme brûlée was served cold, everything just seemed very small except for the 15oz steak that my husband ordered. Our server was nice and did a good job by we had dirty plates on our table for some time, had to ask for wine glasses and felt rushed. It wasn’t a dining experience- just another table for them. The floor manager was there and he had a presence on the floor, maybe more table touching would be helpful to the servers.
Great food, exciting atmosphere, and excellent service.
As always, the food was excellent. Service on the other hand was inconsistent. For one we had four different servers come to our table, yet it was difficult to get any of their attentions.
Good food, good service, nice wine list, great location. Second visit here this week...so a good dinner restaurant
Great food & service with good wine and a spectacular evening to sit outside.
The food we ordered and received from the kitchen did not match the menu description - key components were missing.... no bread or croutons in the peach panzanella, it was only a bowl of fresh nectarines with some vinegar sprinkled on it; only a few corn kernels in the fresh pasta when succotash was listed. We probably should have sent it back but we didn’t. It all tasted good, but was not what we had expected.
Great and attentive service by Sarah who wanted to make sure everything delighted us. We were really pleased with their inventive dishes like the savoury peach starter. Overall a great meal!
Great food and service. Good value.
