Staying at the Ritz Carlton and decided to go to Banyan Tree because of their Tiki Hour special and convenient location. Even with just buying the half off appetizers specials, it was insanely expensive for small portions of food. Also, the drink special is only for one type of champagne. Better places to eat for a better price.
Food is below average with good presentation. We had Octopus, Mahi Mahi, Ono. Octopus was tender, but that was it. Can not say anything else good. If you like to look at food, that's your place.
Fantastic food a wonderful last meal on the island! Server was great as well.
Very lovely setting for a picturesque evening dinner on the Ritz-Carlton property. We had The Ribeye dinner that was presented pre-sliced for wrapping the delicious (perfectly cooked) tender slices of beef with butter lettuce along with specialty salt, peppers, scallions and other spices. Perfect balance between salt, acid, and the fat of the ribeye. Excellent dish. We also had the Lobster Lumpia (good) and the Ceviche was amazing. Great food and Service, highly recommend.
This was our first visit since the remodel and the new Chef. The new layout and design is amazing and only exceeded by the incredible new menu. The presentation and flavors of everything we ordered was outstanding. It was truly a wonderful evening!
Nice atmosphere and good Asian Pacific food. Worth a visit to the Ritz to eat at the Banyan Tree.
The food and the amy
The restaurant was actually closed and moved to another one. There was no mention on Open Table. Very disappointing.
Banyan Tree was closed for renovation. Will not be open again before mid December. Thank you for a wo der birthday surprise. Not.
Food and service was amazing. Especially the Poke and Mahi.
We celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Banyan Tree, with an extraordinary meal! What a beautiful location, with a stunning view of the ocean and a glorious sunset. The staff was incredibly kind to us, from the server to the chef. This meal was truly the highlight of our trip, and it was a joy from start to finish. The ahi poke was divine, the risotto was delicious; Mahi mahi melted in your mouth; excellent chicken; lovely salad; amazing desserts. Although the menu is small, the offerings are inventive and so satisfying. This is a very elegant restaurant with the most attentive service we’ve ever experienced. Thank you, Banyan Tree- we will be back on our next trip to the islands. Mahalo!!
We ate at the Banyan Tree our last night at the Ritz Carlton. The food was excellent and huge portions, which we weren't expecting. In particular the chicken and the house-made Hawaiian sweet roll were knockouts. I had a fish dish, and I wish I ordered the chicken! Someone else at our table had the risotto, which was delicious but very heavy. The ambiance is lovely--it's right next to the pool with a very pretty view. It is definitely an expensive meal; it was our most expensive on Maui.
Awsome food and service, beautiful view outside.
Banyan Tree was a disappointment. The overall experience - food, service, ambience- was pretentious and overrated. There is zero view too. I’d skip Banyan Tree and do Merrimans again.
Amazing service & great food! The hostess knew we were celebrating our anniversary, so she took a couple polaroids of my boyfriend and me, then made us a special keepsake card, which she had the staff members sign. Our server was also welcoming and very knowledgeable. He gave great recommendations for din, drinks & dessert. The food was absolutely decadent and divine! I can see why the chef won chef of the year this year! Finally, the ambiance was absolutely breathtaking - out of a movie! Would highly recommend. :)
Phenomenal food and impeccable service from Nick! Coming back!
The Banyan Tree is a lovely restaurant with terrific food. Our entire party of 8 enjoyed their meal.
Amazing experience for my wife and I. We made it here for our honeymoon and the staff made the occasion extra special. The food was outstanding. We had the scallops and shared the steak. Highly recommended.
Excellent food, service & speculator view!
So yummy !!! Great service !!
Fantastic food and wonderful service. Very accommodating In modifying our dish to be gluten-free. The kids venue was very healthy and the mai tai was done perfectly
Robert was fantastic
Good food - beautiful setting - nice wine list - excellent service from Lara - extremely accommodating and knowledgeable with food allergies as well
Spectacular food, attentive service - ask for Robert.
My wife found gum in her soda. The staff comped our drinks but didn’t apologize. Service was slow; our waitress had too many tables. The food was below average compared to other restaurants in Kapalua in that price range. Great view, though.
Beautiful! Great food even for picky eaters ! Accommodated food allergies! Nice change from Lahaina ocean front !
Our server Robert made us feel welcome and special. We can’t wait to go back again.
Delicious food, excellent service from waiter Robert. Overall a memorable experience.
We arrived early but they were ready for us. Deanna sat us immediately at a gorgeous ocean view table. Josh and Robert were there within seconds to greet us and offer us sparkling or still water. Our friends arrived and we ordered drinks and pious. The sweet Hawaiian bread, he’e, and duck buns are just incredible. We shared some entrees and desserts. Chef Dylan and Tanya made sure we were well taken care of. Robert is just phenomenal and truly takes pride in his work. His passion and energy just make The Banyan Tree experience even more pleasant. Our friends from California said it was the best dinner experience they’ve ever had.
I was recommended to this restaurant at the Ritz Carlton. Menu was limited so my wife and daughter did not eat. My other daughter and son and I ordered their chicken dish. Chicken was dry and the Brussels sprouts were soggy. Horrible for the price. Save ur money for Merrimans and Lahaina Grill. Both are excellent
This was a return trip. Too many toddlers, it may help to try and put families in one room or the other. Last dinner there I had the filet with foie gras, it was EXCELLENT along with the rack of lamb special!! This time we were excited to try some other dishes; the huli huli chicken and hoisin lamb shank were both disappointing. The huli huli was cooked perfectly, however too dry, it needs much more sauce. The hoisin lamb shank had zero flavor of hoisin, it needs a hoisin drizzle or glaze. Service was not as good tonight, we were not offered any specials, a bit slow, and too many noisy young ones.
Also, the menu needs to be updated, the descriptions are not correct. One item states Pommes Frites, they were very tiny sautéed potatoes, etc. The menu should also specify how things are prepared as well, i.e. roasted, fried, pan sautéed. I feel that a restaurant of this caliber and price point should have a nice menu, not a laminated outdoor bar type menu. The specialty drink menu should specify if they are served on the rocks or neat. I was shocked to receive a gin/grapefruit/champagne cocktail on the rocks; champagne on the rocks, noooo.
Visiting from Oahu I was unimpressed with the overall experience. It was a rainy evening and I thought it was nice they had umbrellas at the restaurant for patrons who did not bring one. It would have been nice if the hotel staff had an umbrella when they pointed me in the direction of the bay an tree as I walked down wet stairs at 8pm.
The front hostess was wonderful, pleasant and accommodating. The waitress came and immediately took our drink orders and oriented us to the menu. My drink a grapefruit spritzer was good. My friend’s old fashion was ok. The appetizer of pork belly and scallops were cooked to perfection. I wish I would have stopped my meal there. The Kula corn risotto tasted undercooked and too salty. The lamb shank was good, we enjoyed the risotto and Brussel sprouts. Given the reviews and location of the restaurant I expected more but the overall experience was ok.
Octopus, risotto, brussel sprouts, ahi, and mahi....all excellent!
Awesome food. Service was excellent. My husband
Appetizers were fabulous. The main dish was fine. The cost was prohibitive for future meals.
We went for our anniversary and they did some very nice things like taking our picture and printing it but the food was terrible and both me and my husband fell ill after eating there.. do not recommend unless you eat seafood .. super expensive and not worth the price
Did a reservation for my girlfriend’s birthday. The staff were very friendly, the food was one of the best I’ve ever ate in the island. Chef Alvin came out to say hi, very humble, nice and cool local guy. The overall experience with this restaurant, from the friendly staff, really good food, beautiful food presentation and professional service puts this restaurant at the top of my list for restaurant here on Maui.
Excellent food, great service! Awesome to meet the chef! No rush. Would celebrate here again!
Chef Alvin has been voted best on Maui and we can see why. Creative and fabulous salads and entrees blew us away. Also great staff and view. We will return for sure.
Excellent meal and service from Robert. The only issue was that there was a table of 18, so the kitchen was backed up. The filet with foie gras & rack of lamb were perfection.
