The Banyan Tree
Nice place, friendly service, but slow service. Waiting got our food was a bit long. Foods was ok, nothing extraordinary, and certainly not worth the money. Chicken was covered in a thick batter, and the meat was dry.
Anthony made us feel so welcome, we came back the next night. A gem of a place at The Ritz!
This was, hands down, the best meal I have ever eaten! The explosion of different flavors, all complementing each
Exceptional experience! Celebrated our 18th anniversary and everything was perfect. Hostess/ host were friendly and efficient. Our server Lara was superb. Her recommendations were spot on and she really made the entire experience memorable. A member of our 4 person group has gluten issues and everyone went above and beyond to make her experience wonderful. Chef Isabelle Toland even came out to say hello. If you get the chance, don’t hesitate to try The Banyan Tree.
Food was great. Service was not very good. Seated on the covered lanai, started to rain, 2 other tables were moved, but our waiter was nowhere to be found. He had a great attitude, but was very absent. We finally got to dessert and after we ordered it, ice cream was brought, but that was not what we asked for. By then we were damp, cold and read to leave. Disappointing for a Ritz property.
Our server Robert was phenomenal. Food so good... from the Hawaiian sweetbread to scallop BLT
Miyako did a fantastic serving job, as did the back waiters. Maui mani was the best preparation I had in a month on Maui. Only downside was the loooong walk from valet parking to the restaurant. Tough for an octogenarian with a cane, especially returning after dark.
Innovative Island Fare with nice Filipino touches in a very luscious setting. If your looking for something exciting beyond the normal fare this is a great option. Highlights include the Lobster and Shrimp Lumpia and the chefs rendition of one of my favorite childhood noodle dishes - Palabok - here done in familiar yet elevated flavors. A must for any foodie !
This restaurant is now one of our favorites. We dined there for the first time this week and ended up going back again immediately. If you are there at 7:30 you can see the brief fire twirling (?) show. The setting is so beautiful with abundance of orchids, very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Service and food were excellent....on par with a few restaurants that are impossible to get reservations at unless you book weeks in advance. This makes it a nice option for last minute plans. Since we were staying in Kapalua, we could have walked to the restaurant ...a nice change from having to drive into Lahaina. We had the mahi mahi and filet mignon. Both were perfect. Interesting blend of flavors on their menu. Will definitely return.
Besides the good food and amazing views, Dustin, was a great server, made the experience even better through his calm and relax attitude. Thank you
Robert Mora was our server and truly made our evening special. If you are there, ask for him!!
Great service and good food on restaurant patio. Very loud 12 person group next to us with a woman cussing about her “.. f-Ing toe...” Left us a little disgusted. Restaurant staff didn’t ask the party to calm down which was unfortunate. Our easier was awesome.
We got there for happy hour. We ended up taking advantage of the great happy hour 50% off appetizers and ordered all of the instead of a meal but was great. All tasted fabulous!
One of the finest dining experiences on the planet. Rivals the Michelin rated restaurants of Europe. The chef has made every bite a wondrous taste of unique spices and base ingredients. We are going back soon.
We came her for our wedding dinner and the service was exceptional, Nic was the perfect host! The food, scenery and service could not have been better. Thank you for giving us a perfect ending to our day.
What a great dinner! It was our anniversary and they were great with a wonderful table, lei's and a glass of champagne to celebrate. The food was delicious. I would definitely go there again!
We loved the Tomato Salad and the Mahi mahi. The ambiance at 5:30 was great. Our waiter was very pleasant and accommodative. Just a lovely dinner.
We are never disappointed dining here as a couple or with friends. The food, service and atmosphere are top notch. It is overflowing right now, in February, with all colors of orchids. Beautiful.
Art, Robert’ and staff made our dining experience one of best we think we’ve ever had. Kudos to the chef also. Everything was 5 star-if staying at the Ritz Carlton, this is a much for dinner.
Fantastic view. My ahi salad was exceptional!!
Staying at the Ritz-Carlton anyway, we figured we would come here instead of driving an hour or so to Mama Fish House (we’d been there before) — so glad we tried this place. The view is INCREDIBLE — whales and all — our server Nick was fantastic
Had the Mahi and the steak — fresh local veggies, lobster rolls, rice, delicious Hawaiian sweet bread. Special meal enjoyed by us both.
It was a very memorable experience. We were celebrating our 40 th wedding anniversary and our server Katherine was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. Service was impeccable. The food was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
My wife and I have been annual visitors to our beloved Maui for many years after being being married in Hana eleven years ago. Personally I have spent more than 25 years visiting the island paradise with all of its precious treasures. We have added a new treasure to our world and highly recommend it to thoughtful and discerning visitors who seek the very best in Maui dining....The Banyon Tree at the Ritz in Kapalua. Chef Bella has created an environment that welcomes all with an inviting environment, an extraordinary staff and the most creative menu. Even more this special place delivers with the best of service from dedicated professionals like Savanna and Lara who clearly believe the “Bella dream”....we certainly believe that food in this place can become your Maui Dream! There are no words to describe it...you need to visit the Banyon Tree for the best dinner one could imagine....Bravo Chef Bella!
Food and service were excellent. View was incredible
Valentine’s Day. Wedding week in Maui
Usual Ritz pricing and food quality - but service and attentiveness lacking. Limited menu for Valentines Day, but later realized other dinners (somehow) ordered from everyday menu ... which was never offered to us.
Elopement wedding dinner. The staff made it an amazing, special experience. We felt like royalty. Highly recommended.
Great food and service. Wonderful patio.
The server, Lara, was absolutely fabulous. Best we have ever had in Maui. Go see her!
Food kind of weird. My lobster tail was the size of my finger which was ridiculous for $35. My husband enjoyed his ahi tuna. Also the special drinks were awful. Just get normal drinks. Or go elsewhere...
Our experience at the Banyan Tree was somewhat mixed, but overall good. The drinks and appetizers were so amazing that I would consider going back just for those the next time we are in Maui. Our greeting from the hostesses could only be described as cool; however, our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and there was a very proficient manager who helped sort out a better table for us. The snapper special with an orange puree was a total miss; the regular mahi mahi was delicious. All in all, I would recommend it for a nice dinner out in Maui with some unique tastes and dishes; however, this is room for a little improvement.
Robert, our server, really made my wife’s BD dinner really special. From the hostess to the water guy, lots of big smiles and helpful attitude. We have eaten there before, so we knew everything would be perfect. Food was great. Wife really enjoyed the hot, raspberry strudel. Will return and ask for Robert.
Enjoyed dinner with friends who happened to be visiting Maui at the same time as us and who live 100+ miles from us. We first enjoyed drinks and appetizers by a fire pit and were delightfully served by Robert. Then we moved to an outside table with excellent viewing of the fire show. Robert continued to serve us. The seafood bowl for two was delicious although I could have used a little more rice. The food was priced as we might expect. The cocktails were way expensive. The total bill for four including tip was over $320, a bit on the pricey side but enjoyed the evening.
Fun place to eat. Interesting dishes with nice atmosphere. Berry crumble was great dessert!
Elegant semi-outdoor hotel restaurant. Lovely food and drinks, knowledgable waiters. Surprise fire dancers! Charming way to end our Maui vacation.
Great dinner option at the Ritz Carlton. Seated with a fantastic view of the fire show. Food was delicious. Prices are what you would expect for a resort.
It was extremely loud and the food was not very good, especially for the price.
Superb, sublime. The Filipino influences were so thoughtfully and masterfully woven into the dishes. So fresh. The bibinka for dessert with the tumeric tea was perfect.
The smoothest and tastiest MaiTai on the Island.
An absolutely spectacular views both inside and on the patio of the recently renovated bar & dinning areas.
The outstanding long term waite staff of Robert & Laura provided outstanding knowledge of the menu including evening specials, as well as recommendations from the extensive the wine selections.
A wonderful evening was had by all.
