About The Bank and Baron Pub
We welcome you to The Bank & Baron, reclaimed within The Bank of Nova Scotia building, which is recognized among one of Alberta's most historical. This grand space has been unlocked and a new downtown landmark awaits you.
The Bank and Baron is located in the heart of Calgary's infamous Stephen Avenue, the pulse of downtown. This avenue was named after George Stephen, 1st Baron Mount Stephen. He was the financial genius behind the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the President of the Bank of Montreal and is remembered as one of the greatest philanthropists of his time. In honor of the significant history Baron Mount Stephen imparted into the fostering of Calgary's culture , we have brewed The Bank & Baron P.U.B.
The Bank & Baron is a place where a Traditional Public Urban Bar taps into a historical avenue destination. Crafting any event from a momentous occasion to an exquisite celebration can be effortlessly drafted.

The Bank and Baron Pub Ratings and Reviews
Service was great (smile and quick, right order every time). Drinks were good- standard as well as hand crafted.
Food was so so...though chef entertained our special requests for garnishing. Dry ribs were pathetic, wings too dry, nacho were no better than just chips!!
Wouldn’t be my top pick!
A colleague and I hosted a client for lunch. When the client said he was in a rush, the server proceeded to put a rush on his meal, and only his meal. As opposed to rushing all three meals, the client's showed up 20 minutes before ours did. He was finished and gone before ours showed up. It took over an hour for our meals to show up. Disappointing. Server and the manager were oblivious to the delays. We watched other people get up and walk out as they were tired of waiting for their lunch.
We had great service and food, we got there early enough to get a table on a Sunday dinner night, although didn't get too noisy or loud when it did get busy, however, the potential is there as it's all open area of course. It is a bit pricier then your normal fare but worth it once a while!
The service was very slow, especially considering how busy it was. The drink selection was fantastic and the staff were friendly once they finally stopped by. The curry bowl was average but the atmosphere was outstanding. Overall alright, but definitely too slow for a business lunch.
I really enjoyed The Bank and Baron. I was there on a Saturday and found it a little too dark and loud. I was with some girlfriends for my birthday and would have preferred the environment be more tailored to socializing. The food was great and so were the drink options. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Went with a group of 15 people, had to call the waitress, who was rude, several times to remind her to come take our orders. Food was below mediocre, no one finished theirs nor bothered to take it home with them. Half the table didn’t get water or drinks after asking for them several times, we were forced to share cups of water with one another. All this happened despite the fact that the restaurant was basically empty. Was forced to pay 18% gratuity despite the fact that we barely had a waitress for the night. Had to wait for about an hour to get our bills and it took another 40 minutes for the waitress to get change for those who needed it. Terrible experience, wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Only upside was that it was a nice ambience and looked decent.
spectacular room with lots of intimate spots to sit and chat. attentive staff. great for parties and business functions with a private space upstairs for 150, smaller function spaces on the main level and downstairs by the old vault. overall a very impressive transformation.
Very interesting interior as a converted restaurant from an old bank. Huge bar situated in the middle of the venue and 2nd floor balcony seating that wraps 360 degrees around the main floor. We had an energetic server who was practically the only server there for the evening so it made things a little slow but overall a place I would go again.
Went for Mother's Day. Food was both creative and tasted very good, reasonably priced. Loved the historic Bank of Nova Scotia conversion to restaurant. Despite not being very busy in the afternoon, server barely paid attention to my family. At the end came the surprise 18% tip because my family size (wife, me and six kids) is 8.
This was my first dining experience at this pub, I quite enjoyed it. It was super easy to make a reservation online and the website was super easy to navigate. I really enjoyed the ceasar drink, the tooth pick with sausage, olive, cheese and pepercini was delicious and added great flavour and decor to the drink. I would definitely dine here again.
