Set on the bank of the beautiful river Cam in the historic city of Cambridge, The Anchor pub, dining room & river terrace is a stone’s throw away from the world famous Queens college & its stunning Mathematical Bridge.

We serve fresh seasonal food using locally sourced ingredients, cask conditioned real ales, craft beers, wines from a carefully chosen innovative wine list. We provide friendly knowledgeable & relaxed service in picturesque surroundings.

    We didn't have the best experience, however the team addressed our issues which were ultimately resolved. The way this was dealt with means I'd definitely give them a second chance. Other restaurants locally see you as a tourist number, dine and never come back attitude. I think the Anchor wants repeat business.

    Good food and location. Service attendant was brusque and at times unhelpful and never at any point smiled despite our efforts to be helpful. Main course plates were removed before all diners had finished but sauces etc left on the table then no offer of sweets for about another 30 minutes by which time we had to go!

    Good was very average and a lot of money. I guess with the location being as it is they don’t need to try too hard. Disappointing not to have a few non alcoholic beers too, thought most places have that. Best part about the meal was the table and view. Wouldn’t go back.

    The food was average, the desert in particular was overpriced for what is was, basically panna cotta garnished with apricots straight out of a tin. The service was unfortunately quite bad. Two helpful waiters kept coming by to take our orders, asking if we wanted more drinks, etc, interrupting conversation way too often. One would come to take our order, and 2 minutes later the other would come asking if they could they our order, and so on. This happened multiple times throughout the meal. No idea why they had two people dealing with us who didn’t seem to be talking to each other.

    We were a party of seven from teenagers to I’d rather not say how old with a very well behaved dog. The staff were welcoming, the service was timely and the food exceeded expectations. Very happy to have eaten at the Anchor.

    Roast dinner very tasty with very high quality beef served. My partner had a ver well presented sea bass. The two girls that served us were just charming and lovely! Would recommend.
