Terrapin Creek Cafe & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food delicious. Servers friendly and helpful. Received food in timely manner. Clam and chorizo pasta dish rich, tasty comfort food. Super yummy light cheese cake w/ fresh raspberry sauce. Good decaf coffee. Food expensive. They charge for bread and olive oil 2 bucks an order which had 4 half slices of awesome bread.
All 3 of us had the sea bass and it was wonderful! We shared the prosciutto salad and the charred octopus with cauliflower appetizers and both were excellent. We also shared chocolate mousse and the lemon chiffon deserts - both were great! The service was very nice and we will definitely return.
My husband and I celebrated an early Valentine's Day dinner here. Our last visit was a few years ago. The restaurant is still cozy and low key, offering delicious food and attentive service. Food was even tastier than before – pears and prosciutto salad, pasta with clams and chorizo, and sea bass with cabbage and mushrooms. And our server split our dishes to share. It's a gem of a restaurant that we'll look forward to visiting again after an afternoon exploring Bodega Bay. The couple who are chef-owners have turned their vision into a lovely reality.
Andrew and Lia are so consistent. Every dish, every night, is always beautifully crafted and plated. As someone who dines there often, I am constantly surprised at how they maintain such high standards. New dishes may not be offered as often as at some other restaurants. But that is because they want to perfect a receipe before putting it on the menu.
Always a joy to be cordially welcomed, graciously, served and have incredibly good food. Staff are most knowledgeable and helpful without any stuffiness or formality.
You would not think the restaurant would be an excellent place to eat from the outside, but yummy food selection, great service and good wine list. The scallops were excellent, as were the small plates. Glad I saw the reviews, because I would drive right by it, kind of in a "beach town strip mall"
An outstanding bistro style (open kitchen) restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. Terrapin Creek is without a doubt, the best restaurant in Bodega Bay. Fresh seasonal cuisine, expertly prepared and served in a very comfortable setting. This is a "not to miss" gem.
Spur of the moment we decided to drive to Bodega Bay on a Saturday afternoon and decided to make a reservation at Terrapin. It was our first time going to the restaurant. It is definitely a Michelin-star restaurant (is it? Must admit I don't know?). I checked that it is good for birthdays and good for anniversaries only because it is an occasion-restaurant, I feel, due to the prices. But every bite is worth the price. My husband at a kolbacha squash soup that was outstanding, and a first time "soup experience" --I've made hundreds of new soup recipes over the years and never a kolbacha squash soup. I had the prosciutto -pear-greens-nuts salad and it was heaped with the prosciutto and a very generous salad indeed, and DEEEEEElicious. Noways so many restaurants are charging $12-$15 for a salad and they're 90% "greens from a Costco bag" Not so at Terrapin! For the main I had the scallops--large, tender, flavorful, perfectly prepared. My husband ordered the seabass and there were two generous portions along with wild mushrooms, etc. The seabass was beautifully prepared and we would both order it next time. I have already told many friends in Sonoma and Santa Rosa that they need to visit Terrapin sooner than later.
As always, dining at Terrapin Creek is an occasion to remember. The exceptional quality of the food, the attentiveness of the staff and the wonderful anbience create a wonderful memory. We especially enjoyed owner Andrew Tong stopping by our table for a chat.
My husband and I enjoyed the food, the setting and the service at Terrapin Creek Restaurant. We shared a salad and thought it was delicious. Then we each had a serving of the Squash Soup....and it really hit the spot...great flavor and texture! And we then each had the "small plate" of Scallops. That dish was fantastic!!! The scallops were so fresh and cooked perfectly! For dessert, we shared a chocolate-mousse-cake...YUM! My husband was upset that at a Michelin-star restaurant, that the only tea, on the menu, was in tea-bags. He likes to drink tea made from tea leaves... Perhaps this wonderful restaurant might consider "up-grading" to tea leaves. We plan to return!
More casual atmosphere than expected. Beautiful starters and salads. I was less impressed with my main course than the others at the table. Food was less flavorful and less seasoned than I would have expected from this restaurant. Friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Enjoyed our experience.
Fantastic restaurant. We would definitely go back. The highlight was the food which was delicious -- every bite! Husband had duck and I had sea bass. Both were spectacular. Salad, sauces, everything. We had the sardines for an appetizer and they were delicious -- unexpectedly so.
One of the best parts was the service. We were in the side room and we happened to have been seated by a table of 6 who were all loud talkers and laughers. Our server realized right away there was a problem, checked in with us and pretty quickly moved us -- very discreetly to another table. She was completely on top of things, never made us feel fussy and was also respectful of them.
Would absolutely refer this restaurant and look for an occasion to go back. Thank you!
Superb food. Between the two of us we had the scallops, pear/goat cheese salad, gnocchi, and pasta with clams and chorizo. All were excellent. Service was perfect—attentive and friendly but without hovering. Price matched quality. Will return and dine here whenever in Bodega Bay. In fact we will probably make sure we end up in Bodega Bay occasionally so we can eat here.
Consistently great food and outstanding service. Has been one of our go to places for visiting relatives and friends for many years, have not had a single person who does not want to come back. Well deserved Michelin star at reasonable prices and an excellent wine list. Definitely worth the drive to Bodega Bay.
The appetizers were great: the crudo, the scallops and the raw oysters. But the main course was 1 out of 3. Duck breast great, pork chop was tender but rather tasteless and the ribeye steak was bland (that's crazy, all you have to do is buy a good grade of meat). Won't return.
