Terrapin Creek Cafe & Restaurant
The warm calamari (salad) was surprisingly tender and deliciously dressing. The halibut was flaky and moist. It was accompanied by a colorful selection of complimentary vegetables. The panne cotta was refreshing and delightful. Wine by the glass selections were excellent, as usual. Warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Another spectacular Christmas Eve type dinner. Every dish was fabulous! Thanks Andrew and family!
Wonderful special birthday celebration....food was spectacular, some of the best halibut I’ve had, and waitperson was friendly, attentive, with a great sense of humor! Terrapin Creek has always been our go to for special occasions because it is a consistently sensational experience!
Great meal! Great service. Best meal so far on our vacation!
It is the best place to eat in bodega bay the halibut was just a touch over done but most would eat it that way. But a guarantee we will keep going back there when we are in town. Great work on the menu and love the direction he takes you through his style of food
The food was delicious. Everything was excellent. Best place in the Bodega Bay Area. Loved it!
What a gem! It's a nice small, quiet restaurant with fine quality food and service.
The food is amazing and the people are so friendly and wonderful!
A super friendly atmosphere. A bit like dining in someone's home. Walls are covered with fine art with an Asian influence. There was a nice warm fire to greet us on a cool winter evening. Service was attentive and personable.
We hadn't been there in a year, but the menu still had some of our old favorites like grilled octopus and cauliflower salad. I had the clam and kale pasta dish for the first time and it was delicious. The new squash/sage soup was rich and filling.
We went to Terrapin to celebrate my birthday on the way home from a week on the coast. Outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit.
My new favorite restaurant! Food and waitstaff were great! We were celebrating a special occasion and couldn't have been happier! I will enjoy returning there and will recommend it to all I know!
Terrapin never disappoints. The food is fabulous, you cannot go wrong with any of the entrees. The service is excellent, every server so friendly & professional.
Casual, consistently excellant, fun changing local wines.
Excellent as usual!
Great place to meet friends. Food is always good and consistent.
Truly fantastic food with exceptional professional service. Happy to drive a 100 miles just to eat here.
Almost hate to write about how good the food is here; it's hard enough getting a reservation. Could well be the best restaurant north of San Francisco. And would certainly vie with some of the best in the City. But the owners have decided a smaller, quieter restaurant in which they can control the quality of food and service suits them. Lucky us!
Holiday family gathering
We love this place. Food and service are terrific. Highly recommend.
Dinner at Terrapin Creek Cafe and Restaurant was wonderful. I recommend the charred octupus salad and the pasta with clams and chorizo, flavorful, spicy yet not heavy or overwhelming. And, the chocolate cake was light, airy, and moist, probably the best I've tasted.
Excellent restaurant. Everything they do is tops. Appetizers are fabulous and entrees are very good. Wine selection is also very good. We go to the restaurant 3-4 times a year and have for several years.
Wonderful duck, halibut. Attentive service, good wine list. Panna cotta is world class
This is the best restaurant experience we've had in a long time! Loved the way they people pick the seat they wanted when they came. For 2 people they would say, "Choose any 2 top that you would like". A nice fire was cozy and welcoming. The service was perfect as was the food. We shared a salad that had pears and shiitake mushrooms. It sounds different but was absolutely delicious! We also shared a pork chop entree that was cooked to perfection with a nice complimentary side dish of grains, cranberries and vegetables. We saved room for dessert and were we glad! There bread pudding was the best we've ever had. It was made with sourdough bread, candied walnuts and pears with a nice dollop of whipped cream. Can't wait to go back.
We drove 1 hour 10 minutes for dinner here.
It was so lovely, we’d have driven another hour.
Everything works here.
Menu, food, simple straightforward ambiance.
Nothing “fancy” instead everything is exceptional.
We returned to this lovely restaurant to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. We had been there last summer and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had seared scallops for an appetizer and they couldn't have been prepared any better. We both had poached halibut as our entrée and it was outstanding. I very much enjoy their French pressed coffee after the meal. Service was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone, for any occasion. Definitely a gem in Bodega Bay.
A treat in every sense of the word!
We came to Terrapin Creek to celebrate our anniversary at the recommendation of a friend. Located on the northern edge of the town of Bodega Bay, the ambience was wonderful, low key, and very homey. The wait staff were attentive and the whole place seemed to be in a smooth flow. The owners, Andrew and Liya, were also working, but very personable; they made sure to speak with everyone. Our dishes were delicious and the wine list was great. The prices were fair and well-worth it. We had a wonderful celebration, and will be visiting there again.
It was outstanding. I wish we would have gotten to go more than once on our trip. Excellent food and service.
Everything that they make is wonderful, and the service is just as good. I would recommend them to anyone.
A truly intimate and pleasant dining experience. The service was warm and attentive, the food was delicious and unique in terms of flavor and ingredient combinations, and the environment was calm and classy. We’ll definitely dine here again the next time we make it out to the coast.
Food was amazing. The Hamachi crudo and Hokkaido scallops were wonderful. Also the charred Octopus with cauliflower and the Kabocha squash soup. The wine list interesting and eclectic. The panne cotta dessert with passionfruit sauce was to die for. We are so sorry it has taken us so long to return after our first time 10 years ago. A return date is set within 3 months.
We recommended the cafe to a restaurant owner friend in Sonoma the next day and hope that he visits and is blown away...
Enjoyed another wonderful meal!
We come here every time we rent places at Bodega Harbour with college friends we’ve known for 45+ years. The food and service are always excellent and we feel welcomed (and recognized) even if we come just once a year. We do tend to raise the noise level some so I apologize to your other patrons.
The wait staff are professional, never obtrusive, but also not afraid to join in the fun. Kudos to you for keeping the same employees for so long!
We have been enjoying the Terrapin Café for 11 years . When we are on the north coast we always stop in. I let all my friends know of my great experience.
Octopus salad was exceptional. Nice mix of ingredients, not overwhelmed by too much octopus. Pork entree was cooked to my rare preference and was sliced for customer ease. Included the rib, nicely separated from the slices. Halibut was cooked perfectly. Mild in flavor. Both entrees were served on a bed of vegetables and a starch I was not familiar with. Most flavorful veg/carb combo I may have ever had! Nearly surpassed the entree’s flavor. Understated dessert menu which suits me. I like the starters and entrees to command the show. Fortunately we visit the Bodega Bay area frequently so we will be able to enjoy this restaurant again and again. It was our second visit.
It’s always amazing!!! Love the owner and his wife!!! As well as all of the staff. The food is amazing.... such wonderful experience!!!
Ad usual they outdid themselves with fresh warm calamari salad, yellowtail crudo and pork chops that were fantastic. A beautiful evening with super attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. All of this after being closed for 5 days from a PGE blackout. Kudos to all.
Our friends introduced us to this charming, cozy and delicious restaurant. Vegetables and fruits bursting with flavor, and the combinations of flavors in every dish we’re fantastic. The octopus salad and salmon starters were fabulous, as were the kabocha soup, prepared with a basil oil, and a beautiful salad with mushrooms. Our friends raved about the duck breast, my husband loved the pork, and I really enjoyed the poached halibut with greens and grains. Portions are generous but not overly filling. Wine list is excellent, with an eclectic mix of local varietals and European ones. Desserts were great too — a light creme fraiche cheesecake with strawberries, panecotta, and a pear bread pudding.
Definitely worth the drive to Bodega Bay right after the recent Sonoma fires!
Food was excellent as always, but because of fires and poor air quality outside, they kept the doors and windows closed and it was very hot inside restaurant.
