Enjoy Father's Day Brunch at Terra Plata, Roof Top garden open weather depending!
Sunday, June 17, 2018
It doesn’t get much better than having a Spanish brunch on Terra Plata’s rooftop garden in Capitol Hill. We like it for Monday night paella too.
Terra Plata is always a superb experience. Dining on the rooftop is a complete treat. We keep coming back.
Overall, the terrible service ruined what was an otherwise decent restaurant/kitchen. I spend a lot of time in restaurants for business and pleasure and have never had such a poor experience. I do not write reviews often, but I am doing so here in the hopes that the management reads this and does something to improve the poor service.
I took my client to the restaurant with a colleague for a 730 tues reservation on a recommendation of a friend who lives in capital hill. I was in town for a conference. We were seated at the last table in the corner, essentially in the bathrooms. This was not a good start. I understand there are limited tables, but it was 730 and there were clearly a number of open 4 tops that were not in the bathroom. The service was down hill from there. We ordered an app, and they asked to take it away when we were half way finished. The waiter repeatedly forgot to bring drink orders and it was not busy. My entree was brought 15 minutes before my two table mates and I ordered the steak. I know they do a tapas style, but that was really something. Then, they took all my colleagues silverware and did not replace right before they dropped her order. Next, they brought my client's dish. They did a really good job preparing it, she is a vegan, and the food in general was really good.
Unbelievably, the bus boy came and took the dish from my client while she had her spoon in her hand above the half full dish and asked her if he could pack it to go. WTF? I have never seen anything like this and we were absolutely in shock. To top it off, the waiter came back a few minutes later and dropped the check without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert and despite the fact that we did not ask for the check. It was 900. We asked him why he gave us the check, and we stated we would like to order coffee and dessert. He said we looked like we were not interested in coffee and dessert so he just brought the check. WTF.
the food and service was excellent, My friend and I shared three dishes because everything sounded so delicious we couldn't decide.
Loved the rooftop patio but would never return due to 1) forgetful, flippant service and 2)overpriced food.
The food was amazing good. But service is not the best. We had a total of 5 server by the end of our meal. Our leftover was suppose to be box, but not brought to us before we wrapped up our check.
Such a beautiful rooftop and delicious food. Staff was friendly and fun and keep our wine glasses full :)
We greatly enjoyed a Mother's Day brunch. Excellent atmosphere and food. We plan to return there for a date night in the near future.
They were very accommodating to our group and food was delicious, it was a busy day and some drinks and food took time to arrive but by no means be deterred by it, if you can try to seat in the rooftop on those summer afternoons and enjoy the athmosphere and food.
Our server was great! But the kitchen took forever. We were there for 3.5 hours and had to leave before we received all of our food.
Service was great. Food delicious
As a longtime fan of this establishment, I am sad to see the. Decline in service level of late. Not only was our server curt (a kind word), and a put off by our minimal requests for round of drinks and water, I observed the others around us getting similar, diffident treatment. Used to be one of my go-tos for friends dinners and client dinners. Sadly, I will consider elsewhere for my next outings with friends and clients.
My girlfriend and I saw the restaurant recommended on a brunch list for the rooftop patio and decided to check it out. Drove down there and approached the host stand where a gentleman was standing waiting to be spoken with as well. He mentioned he had been waiting for about 5 minutes already. Host finally comes up and helps the gentleman a few minutes later without acknowledging us. Comes back several minutes later and asks if we have a reservation, we state we didn't and she says that they are too busy and aren't taking any more walk ins today.... half the bottom floor tables were empty... So we leave and my girlfriend's mother checks open table for the hell of it and we can get a reservation for literally 5 minutes in the future. So we booked it and go back in and inform them we now have a reservation. No apology or excuse, just told that they were prepping our table. Pair of men come in while we are waiting and state that they DO NOT have a reservation and got seated right away. Never got an explanation for why were going to be denied service but they were invited in less than 5 minutes later.
Got seated. Waitress was fine. Warned us the kitchen was running a little slow. Manager came up a minute later to apologise for the wait for food when we'd been sitting for only a few minutes. She was looking for the table next to us where they'd been waiting 45 minutes for no food. Apparently their ticket had been lost.
Food was ok. Expensive for what it was.
Tl;Dr: hosting service was unacceptable, they will turn away business for no given explanation and food was just ok. Will not be returning and will actively discourage anyone from trying them out.
Amazing food and service as always! Can't beat the roof for Sunday brunch in the sun!
Great food and great setting. Service is a bit inattentive but very typical for Seattle. The food is always delicious and the drinks some of the best in the city. When the weather is nice the rooftop dining is such a treat.
I loved coming to Terra Plata! It was my girlfriends birthday so I called ahead of time to make a reservation. They hold me that it was mondays were a different menu but made an exception because my grirlfriend requested the ribeye. When we got there, we didnt have to wait, they took us right to the table. We were handed out menus and they said "Happy birthday Callahan" on them which was so cute and special and definitely made her feel seen. Our server was great and the view was beautiful. I would recommend Terra Plata to anyone.
Our first time here-- recommended by a friend. We had a lovely meal before going to an event at Benneroya Hall. So yummy!
The menu is a bit pretentious. Also, watch out when booking that you’re actually getting a table vs just space at their bar. Trying to hold conversation with bar seating for 4 is difficult
This place is awesome. Great food.
A group of five of us went to Terra Plata for a pre-theater dinner. We planned it also to coincide with the restaurant's commitment to Lifelong's Dine Out For Life. They donated 30% of their evening's profits to the organization! I've been to Terra Plata many times and this time was no exception. Their food and staff were excellent.
Of particular note, their risotto was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and the flavor was exceptional. I had the lamb, from the small plate menu...and again, cooked perfectly and had a great taste.
The serving staff were great and very accommodating. During our cocktail and wine phase, a friend walked up and joined our table for dinner and the meal. The staff didn't even flinch! At the end of our meal, they easily broke up our table's bill to individual parties. We were very honest about our timeline, but the restaurant was very busy with a couple of large tables, so the meal took a little longer than we had hoped. So we didn't have time for dessert. That always makes me sad...but it was a great dining experience.
Lovely rooftop patio! Even in the chilly evenings, the heaters work wonders.
For the money we paid the food was mediocre and the service was really really bad.
Very good food and a lovely sunny evening on the upper deck. Service was slow. We weren’t sure we still wanted the pork dish by the time it came. It took 15 minutes for me to catch the eye of my waiter to get another glass of wine. We finally gave up paying by card fortunately we had enough cash.
The food took forever (~1 hour) and we left hungry but without enough time to order more as we were headed to an event nearby. While the server was nice, he seemed overwhelmed and came to our table infrequently and did not realize how long it had taken for us to get our food (so never communicated with us).
Terra Plata never disappoints. When slammed at their busiest times, service may be a little slow, but the food is always beautifully presented, by well-trained, personable staff. Its super well located in the Melrose Market block. Walk, Uber or use the parking lot under the building across the street.
Great Paella Dinner- As always food and service wonderful.
This is my go to spot. I come here every week and I’m never disappointed!
Everything was great as always. Classy and comfortable restaurant with great food and service.
Such a wonderful spot in Seattle! The flavors are incredible, service is amazing, they have a fantastic wine list - everything was excellent! When we arrived I was super hungry and the server overheard me say so and brought a "gift from the kitchen". AMAZING! Sweetest thing and it was a delicious plate of peppers.
We went for seattle food week special menu. It was fantastic! Every dish was delicious and wine was affordable and tasty.
If you have a chance to hit Terra Plata on a day where the weather cooperated, the rooftop deck is a must. Otherwise, the bar is cozy and long and the interior tables are cozy. Make a rese, though, this place books out.
We enjoyed our meal but dishes came far to quickly. Received dessert in the middle of our mains and still had half a bottle of wine left when cheque came. Felt like they were trying to push us through, yet the restaurant was only half full by the time we left.
We hosted a party for my daughter. We had an amazing table and the staff was perfect. The food was remarkable and very health-conscious. They printed menus specially for us that had her name and her birthday at the top, which she is saving as a momento. As delicious as the dinner was, the dessert was a miracle. The chocolate peanut butter caramel treat was the best ever, and I typically don’t enjoy dessert.
The very attentive staff was the best. I plan to return for every trip to Seattle!!!
Lovely spot for a weekly date night.
Enjoyed a nice dinner during Restaurant Week - a very good value. The food was delicious, and the service very professional and pleasant. We like the "land to table" ethic they convey. We sat at the counter, which was okay - but the counter faces onto the bar, and not directly onto the kitchen, which is further back.
Terra Plata was recommended to us by a friend who had lived in Seattle, and the recommendation was spot on. Its location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood was perfect, and the setting was both comfortable and elegant. The food choices were well rounded for all tastes, and uniquely prepared. Staff were all friendly and efficient. Would definitely go again.
Excellent service and food quality. My guest was not a local and he loved it. Thank you
Attentive service, delicious/fresh/interesting menu. Would definitely recommend.
Best meal ever. The churros are the truth
We really appreciated the gracious accommodation of one of our guest’s special requests. Victoria, our server, was both professional and warm. The bartender personally came to the table to check if we liked our drinks (we did!).
We went for Easter Brunch. It was noted on OpenTable that they would be serving in addition to their regular brunch menu Easter specials. We walked in and were seated quick enough and had a rather grumpy waiter ask us what we wanted to drink. We ordered coffees. The waiter returned set the coffees down and asked what we wanted. We had not even looked at the menu yet, asked about the Easter Specials to which the reply was THERE ARE NO SPECIALS. and walked away as we were not ready. WE never saw him again, we had a new waitress come to the table to take our order. By then we were ready. She came back with coffee and started to pour into the cups. One was decaf coffee and we stated wait wait wait,,, thats decaf. To which she exclaimed, Well I dont know that!!! Very awkward. To make a long story short, food was
mediocre and the service just fell flat. Very disappointing as it was Easter and we had many places to choose from to eat at.
