TEN approaches traditional Japanese dishes as if they were works of modern art. The superior ingredients are the building blocks of inspiration and the plates are crafted to please both the palate and the eye. Superior products are used and the seafood arrives daily from fishing auctions in Japan and Hawaii. Beyond the incredibly fresh sushi, the menu features a variety of hot and cold ala carte items and offers choices for vegetarians as well as non-seafood eaters.
Ten also features an extensive wine list, and specialty cocktails using unique ingredients such as the "Ten" which is comprised of sake, vodka and aloe juice.

So delicious will definitely be returning! Such a great experience
Food speaks for itself. Your own fault if you pass this one up.
Loved the food!! Definitely try the lobster tempura if you visit. My only complaint is that I wasn't a huge fan of the cocktails my boyfriend and I got. Definitely intend to visit again!
Melissa provided excellent service and was so pleasant in working with us. The food was exceptional in taste and presentation. We will come back to Charlottesville just to eat here again!
Lobster tempura was amazing. Sushi delicious and fresh! Music was loud and hard to hear servers with masks.
Keep up the good fresh sushi!!
Love everything about Ten EXCEPT the lighting. Our booth was too dark to see the food, let alone the menu. Which is a shame, because the sushi rolls are works of art that deserve to be appreciated.
I’ve been coming here for the past few years, and it is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Charlottesville.
Great food great atmosphere - enough space to be far enough from all other tables - the table settings is tricky for the staff to set and clean so your participation is required but the quality of the food and the elegant setting make up for it. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience (family of 5 from 9 to 47yo)
We dined here for the first time yesterday and had a very wonderful experience. Our server Landon was on top of everything, super helpful with suggestions, and very personable.
Jack is the best bartender in Charlottesville! Always so helpful and knowledgeable. Did a great job with his sake recommendations! Landon did a great job with our service. The food is terrific!
Everything was great, sushi was amazing.
Ten is consistently excellent and their sushi is beautiful as well as delicious!
Great food and service
My complaint was the speed at which our food came out to our table. It was ready at the same time as our first cocktail which was too rapid a pace So we were basically finished eating within about 35 minutes total… I know they want to turn the tables but they could slow that down quite a bit.
Fantastic food, excellent service and very patient server with our dietary questions. Can’t wait to go back!
Great Romantic dinner spot. Great suggestions by our server, just the right amount of attention paid without unduly interrupting our evening. Great heads up on getting the dessert order in early to make sure we got what we wanted.
Ten is the place to go if you want everything to be just so. It's not cheap. But it's perfect.
If you don't have interesting friends to go with, go by yourself. You will be glad you did.
Fantastic level of service, the waitress visited us with the perfect amount of frequency. Their drink selection was outstanding, and the quality of the fish was so fresh and so beautifully varied it was the most refreshing experience of sushi I’ve had in a very long time.
This is the best sushi we ever had! Everything we ate was amazing, which also included the lobster tempura. As visitors to Charlottesville, if we ever come back, we would eat here again!
Bad table service
This is our favorite restaurant in Charlottesville - the staff is knowledgeable and can make educated recommendations about what to order and they make every experience special.
Beautiful place, great service, and decent food. The sea bass starter and the rainbow roll were amazing. We ordered a couple of other sushi rolls that weren't great. For instance, the spicy honey tuna roll had absolutely no sweetness and, along with the hotate roll, was absolutely drenched in sriracha. The server was even surprised. What's the point in having excellent, fresh fish if the flavors and use of spice isn't balanced? I would certainly return to dine, but I would focus more on traditional sushi and sashimi.
What a great find while visiting Charlottesville! We were looking for a sushi place and found this on Open Table and decided to go there. What we found was a cool, modern looking place downtown. And they were playing pop music in French! The food and service were wonderful. If we lived here, this would have to be our regular weekly date night spot.
Great atmosphere and fantastic cuisine, very modern aesthetic.
Always super fresh and delicious. We always enjoy our meals at Ten.
There is Ten and all the others which are not in the same league.
Food was excellent and our waiter was great!
The noise level was the thing that detracted from an otherwise delightful evening. We asked if they would turn the volume down and we told yes. They never did. I used sound print throughout the meal. It was consistently 85 dBA. Too loud to understand anyone.
Great food and wonderful wait staff!
This is authentic Japanese cuisine. But, the tempura was a little soggy.
The selection and quality of sashimi was outstanding, with fairly-priced portions. The horseradish.wasabi was a little coarse, so didn't stay on the fish well. I make horseradish and a grower sent me a Wasabi stem, fresh not long ago; there's a big difference. But, the flavor of Ten's condiment was much better than the usual wasabi substitute. At over $100-150.00/pound for real, fresh wasabi (Wasabia japonica), I don't expect most places to serve it.
The Unagi Sansho roll was delicious. The ten-piece Omakase ("chef's choice") exceeded expectations in cut and freshness.
The drinks Sparkling Ten and Ten Martini, which others let me taste, were outstanding. Alas, I was the driver in the group. All were impressed; we had a great time!
Great lychee martinis and the tempura lobster was delicious!
I’m never not in the mood for Ten sushi. The Ten Hamachi is my all time favorite dish!! Service was really slow from the sushi bar that particular night, not sure what was going on, but when it finally arrived it was wonderful!
Everything was absolutely delicious and a really cool vibes. Great drinks.
BEST SUSHI WE"VE HAD: My wife and I visited Charlottesville to get married and went here the night before our wedding. It was intimate, low lighting, soft music and had a great ambiance. They even brought us a glass of champagne on the house to celebrate our marriage!
We ordered the
1.)Aka Dashi Miso (Red miso, tofu, nameko mushroom, and scallion) this was very good but a little salty for our taste
2.)Maguro Karai Honey Roll(tuna, scallion, spicy honey sauce) delicious!
3.)Spicy Toro Roll(chu toro, avo, pickled jalapeno, crunch, spicy sauces, tobiko.) This wasn't too spicy but had a good bite to it.
4.)Dragon Roll (fresh water eel, tamago, avocado, shisho) had avocado on top and had a drizzle of sauce over it which was sweet and made it all come together.
5.)Shitake Roll- This was very flavorful
All rolls came with Wasabi that was packed full of flavor and spice. Best Wasabi I've ever tasted!
We have never tried Sake before but tried the
Sake Flight: House Flight. “Living Jewel” “Water Flower” “Soaring Clouds”. This was delicious and would recommend anyone try this!
-Bee’s Knees (Chamomile infused gin, honey, lemon) This was light but had the punch of the gin and bitterness from the lemon. SO good. This was our favorite
-Ten Martini (tito’s sake, aloe) This was very light but so refreshing!
Ten was one of our favorites. Our reservation was for 6:45 and we got there early at 6:20. We were seated at a table in the room where some of the sushi is prepared. Our server came over and was very nice and we ordered drinks: a jalapeño margarita and a Stella Artois beer. One drink arrived after 20 minutes and we had already ordered food. Ten minutes later we asked about the beer and were told the bar was backed up. It took 30 minutes to get a bottle of beer. We still had no food. The server came by and again asked for our order and we told him we had already ordered. Another server came by a few minutes later and wanted to know what we had ordered. So for the third time we repeated our order. Rock shrimp, one order of sashimi sake and one order of sashimi tuna (the highest grade) - we also ordered a spicy toro roll and the wagu beef roll. It was 7pm at that time so we had been there for 40 minutes and only had a beer and margarita. It took another 15 minutes to receive the rock shrimp. Then we sat….. and sat and sat…in about 20 more minute we received 2 orders of sashimi sake and no sashimi tuna. Once again the server/s had screwed up. The tuna did finally arrive but only after we showed 3 people what we had received and what we had ordered. At 7:30 we did not have either of the rolls. Again we had to proactively get a server and ask. When the rolls arrived we had a spicy toro and a wasabi roll not the wagu beef. We finally gave up and asked our server 3 times for a to go box. All in all we tipped 20% for the worst service we have ever received from any restaurant anywhere. And we never received what we ordered. There was no apology only the excuse that he is training a server and so busy. We were even charged for the wasabi roll which we DID not order. Miserable evening.
Wonderful! The sushi was fresh and tasteful, the people were lovely, and the ambiance was incredible. My only complaint really is that the music is too loud!
We love Ten. It is our favorite restaurant in Charlottesville. Just note they stop serving sushi at 9:15 even though the restaurant is still opened.
Food was great and service was awesome. Noise level was a bit loud and random with music
