We had 20+ people for a special occasion and it was perfect! The owner, chef, and servers were so accommodating and kind. They made sure we made it to our event on time. And the food was spectacular! We are so thankful and grateful we picked Taverna Di Bacco!

Chef Maurizio and his wife consistently provide an attentive and caring environment to eat. Whether you’re just by yourself, or with a group, you’ll be at home here.
The food is great, I often eat their specials. Even when the Chef is not in, the food is equally high quality, a great sign of him having built a quality operation.
Make sure you try the Black Widow dessert, a mildly spicy dark chocolate yumminess. And finish your meal with Maurizio’s favorite brandy from Italy, Vecchia Romagna!
Small, intimate venue. Very friendly owner. I think he may do a fair amount of the cooking too. He was behind the bar when we arrived. Came to our table and greeted us. Came back to talk about some specials and a few dishes. He said that the server would go through all the specials when the other two in our party arrived. We had an early dinner (5-ish), so there was only one other table of what appeared to have been friends of the owner and servers. Our server was very delayed in getting us menues, then in returning for any service. We asked about the specials, and it was probably another 10 minutes or so before she returned with those---mostly because she was visiting with her friends. We are fine with the socializing and joy of friendship, but it came at the price of service to other patrons. There were only 4 of us, and it took a very long time for the entrees to come out----maybe 30 minutes? And there was only one other table of patrons at the restaurant. So, I wonder how all that works when there is a full house. Finally, our server had a terrible body odor issue. I hate to bring it up, but it was something that interfered with enjoying our experience. Every time she came to the table, we had to brace ourselves and recover after she left.
Finally, the food was pretty good. I think it might be worth returning for another try.
If you can't decide, ask the chef to surprise you. It's not on the menu but should be!

We were pleasantly surprised by this last minute dinner reservation on a rainy night. The hostess was very welcoming and the pasta was perfection. It’s rare I find pasta as good as I find in Italy. The Cacio Pepe here was most memorable!
The garlic bread is a must have! Meatballs were delicious - Cacio e pepe was a hit in a Parmesan bowl - homemade desserts amazing! Italian wine list with good value
Wonderful meal, ambiance and service. My family and I are longtime fans of Maurizio’s cuisine and enjoy each opportunity to dine at Taverna di Bacco.
overpriced, food was bland. no red sauce for the eggplant parmesan or the chicken parmesan. the salad had almost nothing in it and it was 14 dollars.
Weird atmosphere—smelled a bit icky, not well decorated, had no ambiance. Guests seemed like tourists who had randomly wandered in, not people who had purposely chosen this place for its great food. That said, the food was totally fine (we only had pasta and a side vegetable), although nothing special whatsoever. There are too many great restaurants in NYC to ever go here again.

Fantastic, tender, flavorful lamb shank that falls off the bone! Black seafood fettuccine lacked a bit of flavor & could’ve been spicier. Good selection of wines. ‘Two Bills’ mezcal jalapeño cocktail so-so. Service spotty despite not being very busy.
This restaurant is what NYC and Italian food is all about. This is a special restaurant spot in the lower east side. The owner is super nice and is an incredible cook. The staff is friendly and very responsive. This is my go to restaurant when I come into NYC from Arizona.
Consistently delicious! Tonight I enjoyed the gnocchi with lamb/ pork ragu & hubby had cavatelli with scallops/ sea bass. Also had the Bacco cocktail which was tasty & potent! We shared Cioccolato ai Formaggio dessert... better than I remember it the first time we had it! And the amaro was definitely a great finish to the meal...we will be back of course!

Cannot recommend more. It’s the perfect Italian staple in the neighborhood. The service makes the experience memorable and fun. The food the comfort-Italian that you love been looking for. True quality all around. Great for date night since it’s not overwhelmingly loud, but also great if you want a friend or family get together as well.

We purchased a ceaser salad (good), meatballs (small and overpriced), and chicken parm dinners (small, chicken was tough, and over priced). The service was good but the food itself was very blahh. I wouldn't recommend my friend to this restaurant.
Have been following Maurizio since he opened Grano over 20 years ago. He just keeps getting better.
It wasn’t open
Food was delicious, it was smaller portions than normally given at an Italian restaurant but they did not leave me hungry. I am just normally used to giant plates but in reality it is normally too much! My one complaint was the waiter, he was a little over the top but definitely not enough to stop me from going back!!

Not the busiest place on the block, I think it’s more of a hidden gem. The lasagna was a bit salty, but still very good, and every other dish was fantastic. Service was excellent, ambiance couldn’t be beat. I would definitely eat here again.
I recommend this casual Italian pub to anyone looking for a quality, rustic meal. From the soup that was on special to the homemade gnocci and the fusilli pasta with wild boar, all was tasty. Mauritzio was a charming server all around. Great place for a couple who want to sit and eat and talk casually without being pressured.
Delicious pasta dishes and steak tartare. Great service from server Jean-Claude and owner Maurizio. They were very friendly to my friends and me, making it a very fun night! Wish it could be my regular neighborhood place.

The food was great. And loved the ambiance. We found out that the owner Mauricio was on Chopped and won! He told us the story, which was really fun and special. The meatballs were excellent as was the pillow like gnocchi. The dessert, something like Black Magic, was great, a mound of chocolate with peppercorns that popped in your mouth. Unusual and delicious. Now this place is a favorite!
