Tavern on Rush Ratings and Reviews
We booked our reservation for Santa brunch a month in advance. When we arrived 5 minutes early for our 11:15 reservation the hostess told us she didn't have a reservation for us. I told her that's strange since I have an open table confirmation and that indeed the restaurant called me at 2pm the day before to confirm our reservation. It took me about ten minutes to log online and show them the confirmation to which then they immediately found our reservation and then they told us someone else was seated somehow for our reservation and that they couldn't give us a table because they were completely backed up. What a Joke... We brought our 3 year old daughter telling her she's coming to this event with Santa. So they offered us a hightop table at the bar... what a friggin joke. Seriously you called us the day before to confirm and gave our reservation away with no recourse for us. PATHETIC . Ive come to Tavern since they opened but Ill never go again.
I came to Tavern on rush Dec 9th to celebrate my b day with friends and can I say everything was soooo good... This was our first experience here and the food , hospitality, ambiance was star stud A1. I definitely will be returning to check out ladies night(Monday) as well all the wonderful food dishes and Drinks specials again
Jason Siegel was our waiter and he was amazing! I always specifically request him because he is always so attentive and remembers everything. He makes you feel like family. Benny is a top notch Maitre’D. He is always so welcoming. We always go here when we are in town. Oh and the food, as always, was fantastic!
I made a reservation in advance, wanted to visit this popular place, but right after my dinner (oysters, tuna and a glass of wine), I poisoned myself with oysters, tore and fainted, I am grateful to God that I'm alive. Never in my life I will return to your restaurant. Enjoy your Canadian oysters!
Excellent service and food quality. In good weather the outdoor dining space is the best in town. The location is perfect especially during the holiday season with the Christmas lights in the square. Our waiter was funny and very attentive. Excellent experience.
This was our second Thanksgiving at this establishment and unfortunately will be moving to another establishment next year. You know you off to a rough start when they seat you 45 minutes past your reservation, no explanation given and to add further insult by the time we were seated we ended up by a walk in group that was seated before us as we arrived at the same time. I don't know why some establishments seem to put their most inexperienced staff at the hostess stand as they are the first impression. The staff in the bar was attentive as we waited for our table. Once seated the beverage service was non-existent from our dining room server, in the course of an 1 1/2 - 2 hour dinner I was able to receive exactly one drink and this was after asking the server at least 5 times to check the status of the order. My wife ordered the traditional turkey dinner and the turkey served was poorly prepared and was as dry as the Sahara dessert, the rest of the meal seemed a lot like something from a school Thanksgiving lunch, thankfully I did not order this meal. We went to dinner fairly early and were surprised when the server indicated they were already out of some desserts. I found the whole experience very unprofessional and the server either covering too many tables or just not very good. A lot of places to eat in Chicago and will be moving on going forward.
My spouse and I met our son and his friend in Chicago and I picked Tavern on Rush in advance due to wonderful past experiences there. Great food, ambiance and service. Helpful when we had to change the reservation to an earlier time. Eric was a wonderful server . . . fun, energetic, helpful and practical.
