sauteed mushrooms & onions
totally vegan, with no bun and served with raw vegetables
Cheerful attentive service, and the food was excellent. I recommend the whitefish.
Had brunch outside on a chilly day but the heaters made it pleasant. Great service and brunch menu. Would definitely go back again!
Brunch with my mom. We love this place and the service is ALWAYS fantastic. For such a busy and popular place they really make you feel valued
We love Tavern on Rush! We had a lovely evening celebrating my husband’s birthday. The food and service were outstanding! We would definitely recommend this establishment.
The server was not very attentive. It was a long wait for basic items. He was very difficult to communicate with.
Ate “inside” near the open windows and it was quite chilly but things were well spaced and not crowded upstairs. Food and service were very good. The bees and birds inside were a bit of a nuisance but beyond their control.
Excellent choice for a great time out...very attentive service and trying very hard to please the diners and making them comfortable during these difficult times due to COVID-19.
This is Chicago at its best! Great restaurant and great location!
Great restaurant in beautiful part of city . Fresh and delicious dishes. Been there before and will be back again . Love that oudoor seating vibe.
Great service and great food. Having the heat lamps were a nice touch.
All was very well. The service was good and the outdoor seating properly COVID spaced and comfortable.
Can’t beat this upbeat stable spot for crowd watching and decent food and libations. Cheers!
I made a reservation online for a Sunday evening at 10. I was unaware that the restaurant closed before then. I’ve set lade reservations for restaurants in the same area, and if the restaurant was closing soon, or at a different time than listed online, the restaurant would call to inform me, or ensure I was still coming so I can be aware what time the bar and kitchen closes.
Tavern on Rush did not extend the same courtesy. I drove to the restaurant, parked, and when i arrived, the security guard was sitting there and did not acknowledge me or my partner (once we finally figured out the entrance since there’s mostly outside seating due to COVID). He was very rude by being short and snappy in speech and making little to not eye contact. Once i asked him why was I able to still set a reservation online, he barely gave me answer but said “I don’t know you have to figure that out.”
Overall, my experience was awful and I do not think I will be dining at this restaurant ever.
Out of town friendships celebration
Alisa was a great server!
We had reserved our table two weeks in advance. When we arrived we were told it would just be another 5-10 mins. We were then escorted upstairs where we had to wait another 10 mins for our table. Very confused at how this happened when there were other tables available in the dining room.... We asked for a specific table and another party was put in our spot. Also our waiter was taking my husbands order and right in the middle of my husband ordering the waiter left our table to greet two other diners at the restaurant, all of us at the table thought that was extremely rude. He said he was sorry but really not what we expected from a fine dining establishment. We paid over $580 for the four of us with cocktails and wine and our meals. That is a lot of money for one meal and we were definitely not made a priority but anyone we came in contact with that evening. There are too many other restaurants to choose from to feel slighted like we did.
Good laid back place esp upstairs
As always, our experience was a delight at Tavern on Rush! Our server, Mark, was very kind and attentive. Our filet was perfectly cooked, and again, as always the entire experience was delightful! The restaurant is not something inexpensive but it’s what you expect to spend for this type of experience. Carrot Cake rocks! We’ll of course be back!
What a great experience. We sat upstairs. We started with the Seared Tuna entree and split it to make an appetizer for two. I had the Papardelle Cipriani and it was fab. My flavor of the week had Bolognesse with angel hair pasta (choices are angle hair, penne or papardell) . He made the wrong choice of pasta but the sauce was very good. We also enjoyed very nice wine. And a very good Brownie which we shared. Really off the charts good.
The menu is interesting and varied.
I wish the temperatures were more consistent. The crab dip often comes out barely warm. Same with the potatoes au gratin. For the prices that shouldn’t be an issue. The people watching there is spectacular and the music in the bar was great.
Service was the worst ever experienced. Will not be returning
Great experience. The food and the service was outstanding.
We go to Tavern every time we are in Chicago and this visit was disappointing. Meals were not great, service was slow and dining room was barely full. Maybe it was typical for lunch but made us rethink for our next trip...
Excellent as always!
We had high hopes for this place as it was recommended by my sister who dined there last spring. The pace of the dinner was rushed to say the least. We had 6:30 reservations and were served our main course (even after “enjoying” a promptly served appetizer course) by 6:55. We felt we were rushed through the dining experience.
There was absolutely nothing special about the quality or flavor of the meal. My husband and I shared the special: rib caps served with two grilled shrimp. I found the rib cap didn’t have as much flavor as we have experienced at other restaurants. My husband’s was fatty, and mine had a portion of silver skin skill attached. The rolled preparation made it so that the central portions of the meat were rare and chewy. The shrimp was exceptionally salty and spicy
Our son ordered the shrimp cocktail as his main course, and that was truly delicious and of good quality/value.
I ordered an Aperol spritz which was delicious and also of good value at $13, but my husband’s Knob Creek and Sprite was $14 and an average pour.
I’ve had better Caesar salads, although the lobster bisque was solid. We finished off with a cheesecake that was delicious (I don’t remember what the flavor was).
Again, the pace was so rushed it hampered our experience, and wait staff were trying to clear our dishes before others at the table were done with their entrees.
I was annoyed by the loud clanging sounds from the kitchen, which was directly behind the wine display from our booth. It was so loud and disturbing that I actually jumped a few times from the abrupt noises.
There are certainly better steakhouses in Chicago. We’ll pass on this one.
As usual... Excellent food prepared perfectly and served correctly. Service is always excellent at Tavern.
I recommend this restaurant to everybody.
We were celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary. I did put that on the reservation but was very surprised that your restaurant didn’t acknowledge it. My wife was expecting a Tavern brownie to celebrate. A little disappointed
It was my first Valentines experience and it was fun, the long stem roses being given to the ladies was a nice little unexpected touch. My date joked, “why don’t I get one.”
Moody, small, intimate. Polite staff.
Great atmosphere and service! Took my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day and we had a good time. A little over priced for my tasting.
Great food, Great service. However, ambiance was only par at best.
The crab legs were awesome!
Best food ever and great service
I had a great experience, the steaks were cooked to perfection.
Service was top notch. I will be back.
I was excited to take a colleague from out of town for a meal Tavern on Rush. Previous experiences have been good, but we were both very disappointed. The steak special was expensive and over cooked and salty. I had a salad that had been good in past and it was not great. Bitter dressing and greens that weren't fresh. I understand middle of winter in Chicago is tough to get freshest produce but the price of this restaurants demands top quality, and we didn't get it. I will look elsewhere for a good meal in a part of Chicago that has many other options!
Food was excellent. Really enjoyed the flame roasted brussel sprout side dish along with a perfectly cooked steak. DJ, our server, was outstanding.
Food for the price was not worth it. Tuna came out looking like a pork loin, second time was raw as can be. Salad was ok.
Jerry was our waiter for the night at Tavern, and he was fantastic! Really made us feel welcomed and relaxed. In terms of the food, the steaks were incredible. Worth the trip!
Table late 30 mins
Food wasn’t up to past standards
Birthday - everything was great! We all had so much fun!
